Motoconcepts would be a great fit for him.
Really good machinery.
Supercross only.
Great publicity for the team...

Reed is an asset to any team, HRC would do good to hire him and help work with Craig and Roczen. Reed can teach them both a ton of things, add a ton of people to the HRC pits, the dude is tough as nails and rides through injuries, a healthy Reed can podium even in a stacked field and you have a guy who can stay on and help develop next years bike. I am sure Honda Japan can loosen up the purse strings and kick a few hundred grand his way for the season.
“Craig” and Roczen ? Unsure

Reed would be a good brand ambassador/test rider for HRC. That way he stays involved in the sport, but doesn't have the pressure of having to perform any longer.

Honda need all the riders they can get, and to get one of the most popular pros would be an excellent decision. I dont think I have seen any more the 5 different Hondas at all the mx events I've been too this year. This coming from me, a Honda man at heart it sad.

And give MCR the longest autograph line in the pits, and the biggest cheering section in the stands.

It’s true Reed will always get a mention on TV but if you are a manufacturer or a sponsor do you want the tv broadcast pointing out your rider in 12th?

Better than not pointing them out at all though right?

How much coverage did Weimer get in his races? Or Tickle before his suspension? Who knows where he was finishing because he didn’t rate a mention on the broadcast

Only reason he gets mentioned that far back is Shaheen has an unhealthy obsession with him.

I believe he has one more win in him. If the stars align and I happens it will be legendary. Chad Reed embodies grit and determination to me. Don’t count him out!

It’s all about marketing, these guys are racing to sell products. I remember reading an interview with Fox and they said they sold more Chad Reed merchandise than any other rider ever. Bottom line is the companies want return on their investment, Chad is someone who can do that.

I'm shocked by all the posts from people who think Chad is going to ride around in 12th.

Chad joining Motoconcepts makes a lot of sense. I hope it happens. If I was Chad, I would practice starts against Friese every day for a month leading up to A1, and a couple days a week the whole season.

I’m sure the MCR deal will hinge on him getting stick with Fox. I hope he can get it worked out. I’d love to see him ripping around on a Honda again. Reed is almost a brand in himself. The younger riders haven’t established that yet. Teams that rely on sponsor exposure need guys who are constantly getting mentioned. Not guys that crash out every year and are never heard from.

As cool as it would be, i don’t see HRC hiring him. They have all there eggs in Roczen’s basket. Reed would probably take the focus off of there top guy.

HRC wont hire him, but maybe they should. When was the last time HRC made it through a SX season with their riders hitting all the rounds? Reality is that if any team should have a 3rd/backup rider it should be HRC.

Hell, Mike Alessi finished 19th in points on that team in 2017. Don’t tell me Reed isn’t good enough for that team.

I can't see anyone wanting to take someone who will most likely talk the brand and/or team down the following season...hell, maybe sooner.

Yes, you are correct. Don’t be surprised if they come to an agreement, it’s NOT out of the question. If it’s not Chad, it’ll be another rider. Chad being a SX only guy makes it an easier decision, then he can help with outdoor testing. Wink

If that is What a team wants, then they can have that. I am sure a winner would thrill the team as well, maybe more than an autograph line, but guess I don't know how modern MX/SX should work.

Agreed

But from what I understand, there IS talk of it and apparently a budget to support it.

Bogle WON A FUCKING NATIONAL!!!

Reed may help sell hot tubs, but if I were MC I'd want someone with a chance of winning, and Reed doesn't have that anymore. Maybe they hire Reed to be the new Jake Weimer? I guess there is always room for someone who barely makes mains and finishes 11-15th most weekends.

I'd take a chance on a guy who's won something recently and actually has SPEED, like Bogle.
Did anyone see that Bogle had nerve damage in his arm? Bogle is fast and has the talent but has a rough couple of years. Oh and MCR doesn’t race nationals so...

Chad seems like a good fit here.

Where do you clowns come up with this shit? I really think you have such little thought process you just regurgitate the same rhetoric someone said 8 years ago. Did Reed trash Kawi? No, Honda when he left them? Nope, how about Yamaha? Yeah nah still didn't do that. Oh wait, maybe your thinking about Husky? Hmmmmm

The truth of the matter is, MCR would be very wise to have Brayton, Reed, and Friese on the team. Reed fits the mold that team runs, SX only with off season races. Honda is giving support and kicking factory parts to them this year, and Tony is doing an excellent job managing.

He did give the 2013 Honda a lot of shit, including once when he was in the booth comentating. He basically congratulated Barcia for "only" struggling on the honda and said point blank how much he disliked that bike.

That being said I agree, this idea that he shits on each and every brand/team and throws them under the bus is bizarre and not backed up by reality. I think people confuse making a few comments on difficulty with setup with saying a bike is complete garbage.

Also as outspoken as he was about the 2013 Honda he was equally outspoken about the 2012 and how it was easily his favourite 450 ever. Theres even a post recently on his Instagram saying as much. He gives credit when its due and doesnt when it isn't. Simple as that.

I agree, I think he said some words when he was on Kawasaki (before TwoTwo) too...but you can take it that he was slamming them or just take it as an honest view.

Is there any merit to the idea that Reed might be on Motoconcepts or HRC next season? I hope he is racing but I'm just curious if I missed some news or a Matthes podcast or something where it was discussed...or is it just fan speculation based on pics of Chad riding a Honda?
