I'm holding off for now. I think it's useless that husky is willing to replace the failed frame but I have to pay 850-$1k in labor to have it done by the dealer bc of liability. No different than any other part someone buys or replaces on their own. Plus it doesn't sit right that there are multiple accounts of KTM just sending out the new frame to a person, letting the rider do the work on their own but husky is not willing to do it .

KTM doesn't send the frames to the customer they send it to the dealer then the dealer gives it to them, the deal are you you're dealing with is just being a dick ,trying to make money off your misfortune. If I was you I would take the bike apart take the frame to a different dealer and file a new claim. Just tell him you took the bike apart cuz you're going to powder coat the frame and you found the crack.
Can't file a new claim...already in the system by Vin number. If the OEM is gonna replace the frame they should pay the labor too. That labor charge looks sketchy to me

The dealer isn’t doing you any favors on that labor price either.

Saying they have to bill by the book for 10hrs of labor , so $850. Once you factor a steering stem bearing and the labor they charge for that I'm at $1k. Sucks...

Ive been doing a little research and it appears that there are two versions of this frame, with different gusset plates at the headstay. Below are two examples, both 2018 frames:

Standard gusset at steering head:

Larger gusset:

You can see how the larger gusset runs further out onto the head and has a much longer weld. This is similar to what the 19 frame looks like in this area. 19 might go even further. On the 19, the gussets that connect the frame downtube to the cross member are larger as well.

Anyway,I would make sure youre new frame looks like the bottom pic and not like the top, which is just like yours.

My 2018 250XC I just picked up has the second version in the photo.

I would be happy they are giving me a frame. Labor does seem a little high though. I could do it in much less than 10 hours.

Just got my new frame also. Did the bearings and radiator hose come installed on the frame or were the parts separate? I didn't get either one thats why I'm asking.

That is absolutely highway robbery by the dealer. They are absolutely capitalizing of your misfortune. Total BS in my opinion.

Look at how car dealers have to handle recalls. You don't pay shit to have something that was recalled fixed. No parts. No labor.

This is basically the same thing but worse in some respects.

There was a box within the box that the frame was in. It contained the bearings, the y hose, the copper motor mount nuts and cotter pins for the foot pegs.

It's up to me to do all the labor.

When I picked up the frame they had the box open, I took only the frame.
They called me 2 hours later and said that there was another box inside.

O p you should contact Husqvarna customer service and explain to them that you feel the dealer is trying to extort money out of you, that you seen many of KTM owners on the internet receive frames without having the dealership do the work. I'm willing to bet you will get your frame.

You're gonna need this too, or you can use a 14mm allen wrench to tighten the stem that goes into the Y/T fitting, I didn't like the way the allen fitted into the tube, so I got the correct tool. $30
You'll see what I'm talking about when you see it, unless you're already familiar with it.

Yep, that's what he told me at least and the 18 only came with orange frames. Maybe he picked up a leftover 17 bike since the changes where minimal on the 18.

Sucks and should not effing happen, 7 people I know have had their frames either crack or break. 9 bikes in total since last year, guessing you know of as many or even more than that.

He landed of a small uphill ski jump and it just gave way. He jumped at max 5 meters long (that's pushing the limit) and 1-2 meters up in the air. Most likely shorter and lower than that tho but that is what you can do at that part of the track.

The jump is small af so it must have been cracked pretty good already, lucky it didn't happen anywhere else. The track has a few "booters".
