Why don't you ask that of the Dutch team....And FYI if Marv is a US citizen he's not another countries rider he would be a US citizen on the French team...

for your info , Vlaanderen ( had a dutch passport all his life ) was racing under dutch license from the age of 12 when he started racing 85cc in the netherlands .and raced the youth 125cc worldchampionships for the netherlands in 2013 before moving up to EMX ... so him racing for the netherlands isnt weird at all , but very logical looking at his history

But would have ridden for the SA team if they didn't treat him the way they did for sporting the SA flag without their permission...

If Marvin is a US Citizen, he's no different than any other "legal" immigrant that came after the orientals that were here before the Indians.

BUT...…..Barcia should be offered the position as he has went for the US in the past and as always stepped up.

BUT (#2)..… If I was Marvin I'd tell France to go screw themselves and put a Peurto Rico or Virgin Islands team together. If he was going to take any spot on the US team it should be...……..wait for it...……….Tomac's spot who has chose not to represent his country for the last couple years stating that Monster has put too many race demands on his time. Must be nice to race dirt bikes for a living and train when not on your job. Most people do both every day, workout and go to work. Then lets not mention the 3 month vacation that no other workers get.
So you’re saying after monster cup Eli is just sitting on a beach sipping fruity cocktails right up until Anaheim 1? If so I have to say this makes all his SX wins that much more impressive...

Not taking sides but for the sake of accuracy, unless he renounced his French citizenship he’d be a French born, dual US/French citizen, riding for France.

I don't think American fans could handle the backlash they would get from "needing a French rider to help the Americans win on home soil."
US citizen or not, Marvin is a French rider to most people. JB 51 is more than capable anyways

Which is no different than a South African born dual South African/Dutch citizen Calvin Vlaanderen racing on the Dutch team....which was my point.

i dont know about that , as he never said anything about MXON .. his problem with South African federation was about the flag ..he raced under dutch license but used the SA flag as he is part South african and dutch . They didnt like it as he didnt ask them for permission and Calvin said .. screw them and started racing under dutch flag .. but if he had not done that, he still could have been a member of dutch MXON team ...

Casually calling Orientals. I'm surprised you did go hard and call them celestials.

His wife wearing USA flag colors was nice. He is more 'American' than those stupid Americans that burn the flag! Otherwise, I have no dog in this fight. If HE wanted to ride for USA, then who are we to say no? If he is now American, how can us Americans deny that?

That's a good point, but Wardy has been in the USA since he was 2 years old. I'd imagine he has no memory of life anywhere else.

Great. So now we have narrowed this down to if a rider has no memory of life anywhere else.

Now we're getting technical....dual citizenship is duel citizenship...how long one has had it doesn't make them more or less of a citizen of either country....technically...Woohoo

There's always that one guy who wants to be a smart-ass over a simple comment. Jeff Ward spent his entire life other than as an infant in the USA. There is a difference.

Either way, Marv's not on team USA and there is no chance he will be. End of story.

Nope just raced under a Luxembourg license...an fyi Covington doesn't race under an AMA license.

The greatest Team USA racer of all time was born in Scotland, just saying. ;-)
