When Germany won in Lommel, 4 people got up on the podium. The 3 riders and the team manager.
So what they've all paid or had there way paid by somebody that has nothing to do with the AMA...my point had nothing to do with how many people show up but that the budget for the USA is not as large as people seem to think it is...Also as far as family/GF it still cost way more money to come from the states to England than from say Belgium, not to mention the cost of shipping the bikes...Obviously the amount of Americans that come to help/be part of team bothers you...I could care less.

It is a bit a pity that the sponsors don't support financially the AMA riders to participate, as a win or podium also bring more exposure to the AMA championships and so more worldwide sales for their brands.

It's a cool event. I hope as many countries can attend as possible, with as many friends and family.
It's the biggest race of the year and everyone on both sides of the Atlantic should go as many times as they can. I'll be making my 14th event in a row, and if there are 100 team USA people on the podium after their probable victory, they deserve to be there and it really won't affect my life too much.

I probably will make fun of that situation though, when people whine about cost Wink

Look at the size of Denmark compared to USA and you think USA have a small fund to go MXON, how big do you think there fund is compared to yours?

Also there is a difference between a rider choosing not to go and a country choosing not to go, but hey thats too logical for Vital...Sideways

Team Finland is not coming either due to budget reasons. Also the fact is that we don't have three guys that are fast enough to qualify for the main event at the moment.

the big fund raiser is a club of nations at Taupo every year, where each club sends 3 seniors, and 3 juniors to race against each other,

Youthstream should be helping with travel costs - for all countries. But, as they offer bugger all travel costs for the fly away GPs, you know they won't offer up anything / anymore than they do.

Countries Federations not being in a position (hopefully through no internal shenanigans / mispending) to be able to adequately finance a Team? Or, simply just knowing they haven't got a hope in hell to qualify, through not having enough riders of a standard that could do such a thing. Fair enough.

I'd like to see a Team of Independents, made up of those high quality riders that have no Team going. Just think, for an example - Tim G - Jonas and TKO on the one team. I know it doesn't fit in with the 'Nations' part of the event, but hell, the PR Team really doesn't meet that standard, in my view. I sometimes wish some of the Countries with a Lot of good riders would pull the same stunt - as there's a Lot of said countries that have a few 'protectorates' , or 'other' set ups where they share Passports. But, they don't, thank goodness.

As for the Podium - only the Riders and Manager should ever get up there. You want a picture of the Riders and Manager with all the Mechanics, Officials, Family and 'Hangers on', you do it bloody elsewhere. Not the effing Podium. It's not just the USA Team that does this - Australia indulged in (a far smaller) version of that, in France when they got third - and I wasn't impressed with my fellow countrymen doing it.

Jonass didn't go for the last couple of years for different reasons. Main one was because he didn't feel like going, although he never said it that way.

You obviously have zero clue how good TKO and Mikkel Haarup are. Those two alone could do really well and throw in Nikolai Larsen or Stefan Olsen again and they actually have a decent team capable of being 5-10 (as long as TKO or Mikkel do not crash every moto).

We're still selling T-shirts. It's not cheap to go overseas. This year won't cost as much since it's in our backward but I believe the year we went to Latvia it cost something like 50k.
