So your saying Eli should have raced mxon last year because he owes it to you?

I like Eli, he seems down to earth. Yes he's not into the whole social side of the sport, but it does exist. He's a bad dude who loves to ride his dirtbike. I think people don't warm to him as much because he's away from the typical SoCal/Florida Moto scene and preferres to stay at home in Colorado so we don't see much of him on YouTube etc in terms of interviews and stuff as that usually happens at the public tracks.

I can't think of a single reason to dislike Tomac. Reasons to prefer other riders...that's all personal opinion. I read that Hannah had to hate his competition to race his best. I read that Ricky said he just hated losing but didn't hate anyone. Go figure.

This last year i have been less of a fan to Tomac. When he rode 250 and the first years on 450 he was one of my favorite riders. I admit that he is the best rider right now but it's his way of being that sort of annoys me. I think it started with him saying no to MXoN and then gradually been worse and worse.

The reason i started this thread was because i just saw the Monster Energy rewind where they was behind the scene of Foxborough. Sure it wasn't clean of Musquin when i passed Tomac but still. Tomac was probably angry but he looks a little bit satisfied with the whole thing. Like he knows Marvin will get so much shit and he gets nothing but sympathies and so on.

Maybe I am wrong (Some of you definitely thinks so, and will comment so) or maybe because I am from Europa that makes me root for europeans but who knows.

Does anyone agree with me?
So wait Tomac somehow rubs you the wrong way after the way he reacted to getting cleaned the fuck out? And not the way he really reacted but from your armchair psychologist perspective. Ya I'm gonna disagree and most of his fans who aren't retarded probably disagree too

I don't know what it is and l fully admit that l can't name a legitimate reason but l am not a fan.

My son has embraced Eli over the last two years and is working on me to do the same.

So far he has been unsuccessful but l'm not blind with rage when he wins now.

Baby steps.

You guys think way too much into this shit. Put yourself in the shoes of these guys. All the pressure. The competitive edge they have. Shit, stuff ricky, Stanton, RJ, hannah, and emig did back in the day was a lot more gnarly. Before guys were robots and had to watch everything they did.

How so? I got the feeling musquin wanted to explain to Tomac and the kawi team his perspective but kawi team was pleased to have another reason for hating musquin.

And yes i am aware musquin did not handle the thing perfectly aswell
Do you want Tomac to hug and kiss Musquin after being cleaned out? GTFO of here.

Eli started the season with 6 overall wins in a row. Few people have done that. When a person hates on a winner, that means they're a loser.

I've seen you hating on Musquin so what does that say about you?

How many times has Musquin won straight up, without Tomac crashing on his own or having a mechanical? Maybe once or twice ever? Ok.

I am a complete Tomac fan now. I liked him and respected him before, but cooled a little after he didn't ride the MXdN. But, that one instance aside he has proven to me a million times over to be worthy.

Good person, incredible rider.

KTM riders dont want to see Eli beat Musquin. So they come up with reasons why they dont like Eli. Eli is a nice guy. We watched him grow up. Musquin is also a nice guy, but he thinks "win at all costs". Typical of ktm. When Alessi stood on Tedescos bike, i think ktm bosses thought it was great. Look at mike he really wants it!

I like Tomac as a rider. he is just the right kind of fast. He pushes every lap and goes balls out when he is trying to play catch up from a bad start and takes chances when he has to. I can respect that, The problem I have with the Musquin pass on Tomac is there are 5 or 6 other guys that would have put Tomac into the stands on that pass no problem. I still don't get why Tomac did not immediately go to the inside of that corner to cover his line preventing Musquin from even t attempting a pass. If that was Stewart. Reed, Barcia, Canard, Piek, Baggett, Cooper etc.. they would have all taken that open door opportunity on the last lap. Like it or not the opportunity was there and it was taken

I like Eli.

I Can’t stand his fan boys that hype Eli up beyond compare. So sometimes that disgust for fan boys gets tranfered to rooting against Eli just so they will shut up. But it doesn’t work, they keep fan boying.

Still not comparable to the Stew Fan Boys though.

Also I root for a race and for parody. Cause ultimately I don’t care who wins. I just want to be entertained.

I don't dislike Tomac I have just never been a fan. I don't like certain riders because of their weakness's. My bud has always been a fan of Tomac. I have always been rooting I guess the underdog who doesn't give up. I loved Emig over MC simply because of St Louis 1996. But yeah I was rooting for Bagget in the 250 days. Championship year Tomac had the momentuem he could of won that championship (Baggets). But he broke mid way through first moto last round. It was crazy. He just melted and than Bagget 2nd moto comes from last to almost winning.

After that we have seen melt down after meltdown. I liked Kenny until pretty much Millville Tomacs 250 year. The guy has the ability to not race one moto due to being too hurt than the next moto battle for a win. Or back too sore to get top 10 than next moto cured.

I was the same with Marv. His fitness wasn't there and only won when the cards line up. But I am a fan now. Sure he is a bitch in the whoops. But he is very close to the full package. I wish Baggett would return to the old Baggett.

But Marv>Tomac

Disclaimer: They are better than me, yes I knwo this. But as a fan I have an opinion.

There, I fixed it for you. Herlings will prove this to a lot of people at Red Bud. But most still won't admit it's true.
If he beats Tomac at Redbud, there is no more questions to be asked, Herlings gets the nod until next time. I really hope they start...

I really hope they start both moto's near each other.

Watching Herlings ride lately, I think he has a good chance to beat him even if he starts behind.

Still going to root for Tomac though.
Agreed

Remember when he was on geico Honda the year he got hurt, he had Carmichael Stewart speed, he was CRUSHING the competition. I hope he gets back to that place, my God is was like watching a pro take on the c class at chicken licks. Wasn't he killing everyone by like a 1:30?

I’m happy to see him backing it down a little. Going that fast doesn’t earn you more points but does increase your chances of a season-ender

I like Tomac and always have. I don't care that he skipped MXoN last year, because it's entirely up to him and only him. That, ironically, couldn't be much more American.

That said, this year I think he will race -- which may or may not group him in the same class with Herlings -- then this is what's gonna happen:

• Herlings will be fastest in practice
• Herlings will win his qualifying race on Saturday
• Herlings will win his two motos on Sunday
• There will be myriad excuses afterward

Get a grip. Herlings is on another planet. Team USA might win overall (and should), but the Netherlands are gonna win two races.

I don't know about another planet... but definitely another country. So far away in fact that we cant even compare the two until they race each other consistently. A race here and there against each other don't mean jack in my opinion. If Eli wins the MXoN here this year Herlings fans will say "well he was on home turf. Herlings came to him". If Herlings wins ET fans will say "Herlings got lucky" or "Eli wasn't on his game". Which both options for both riders could be true... And let's be honest this is racing so neither of them may end up winning. That's why we love the sport! Let's see a whole championship together and determine who is best then. And I think we also have to question if Herlings can hang in SX. Being the best at both would be IMO what would actually make you the best. But again, can't say till we see. Let's just say they are both the best where they are at and call it good. Just my two cents.

I actually hope ET wins one moto and Herlings wins one moto and they are both neck and neck in both of them just to see how this argument would play out Laughing

Personally i choose my favorite riders because of how they RIDE not because they share their favorite hobbies with me in press conferences but that’s just me. That said, if you check out the getting coffee with interviews with Eli on YouTube he’s quick to laugh at everything and shares a lot about what he does when he’s not riding. Admittedly as he’s gotten older he’s gotten more reserved but that’s natural for a lot of folks. No sense in trying to be something you’re not. The truth is when you’re at the level these guys are, there’s not a whole lot to share because these guys pretty much eat, sleep, and breathe moto.
To me it's an overall thing, I "like" Tomac because of his amazing abilities on a bike but to become one of my favorites there also needs to be more. It's not like I dislike him (or any other top rider for that matter), I love watching all of them ride but some riders you "connect" more with than others and Eli is not one of those riders for me Smile

Some guys only care about racing and some guys enjoy the TMZ side of the sport. Not that there's anything wrong with them...errr.... I mean...that.
