well yes, sooner or later if they race enough times.

webb is the new barcia and needs to 'fall on hard times" to, as Gasijer has just said "get the hunger back".
with all the injuries and pressure, many fall into the "8th isnt to bad" mo..

I don't think you could write him off just yet, sure its been a pretty lack lustre start to his 450 career.

We all know how quickly things can change in this sport, who would have honestly put there money on Barcia performing how he is this time last year?

Biggest thing for him is staying injury free and getting a decent run together.

Webb has never looked comfortable on the Yamaha and needs to try to stay injury free. Then he's got a chance to get back to where he was at the end of his 250 career.

There are lots of 250 SX or MX winners who fall into the tier 2 or 3 level of riders in the 450 class. It’s tough to reach the top tier.

1) He makes too much money right now without having to perform. Needs a performance based contract. Hopefully he has been smart with his money and he realizes he's made enough he could actually retire on if he had to because I suspect his next contract won't be nearly as lucrative until he starts performing.
2) He needs to bulk up some and get stronger. That YZ will rip the arms out of the socket if you can't figure out how to tame the beast.

Webb has been impressive so far. He is two wks back from a busted tib and fib (not an easy injury to come back from). It is unreal that he has beaten some solid guy's and been top ten both races.
He might not catch Tomac, Marv or Barcia this year but I'd bet that he'll hit a top 5 overall before this mx season is done.

I certainly never imagined his 2016 campaign while watching him as the number 175 or 37. I always knew he had a some moto wins in them but sometimes the right person is given the right opportunity and we get great racing. I think He will win motos and SX races, I'm not sure about another championship though.

In response to your second statement.. If you’re implying that Cooper might not be able to handle the power of a 450 that’s pretty bold, and mostly comical. He may not be winning races but he’s possibly top 25 in the world on a 250. You’re advice would be better suited for a 17 year old 450 C class rider.

I am the guy and clearly not right on that. But if you are a Webb showed an, then I am happy for you. Predictions based on historical performance and fan bias are often mixed. No big deal. We'll see how he goes. I am on the performance type contract point of view if you want to see him win, ever.

I don't know, but its crazy to think he fought with Febvre on his first few big bike races when Febvre was on fire.

Hopefully he can stay injury free and get back to his normal self...

I think his riding style is holding him back big time. Rides that 450 with his upper body, doesn't use his legs. He is never on the balls of his feet. Can't ride a 450 like that, he got away with it on the 250 I think.

You said he wasn't comfortable on a Yamaha, not on a 450. He has had many good performances on the 450 after the MXDN. Things seem to have gone bad when he went full time in the 450 class.

My point was, if he can do good on the bike, then the bike isn't the issue. It could be team related though, I wouldn't know. It's a fact he has been injured a lot too, plus there were rumors of other distractions. I may be wrong on that, but I wouldn't blame the bike just yet.

As things are now, I just don't see Webb being anything more than a solid "second guy" on a team. And given how the actual top tier guys are not exactly Webb fans...Tomac, Musquin, Roczen and even current teammate Barcia have all had issues with him...it might be hard to convince a team manager to take on a guy who doesn't "work well with others," so to speak.

I guess to answer the original question: not as he is now, nope.

I get the point you're trying to make referencing Barcia but Barcia has a handful of 450 races. Outright being the fastest premier rider on the track. Webb's never been that BUUUUT again I get your point. Riders get written off and turn things around
