In career mode you're better off doing single races for awhile to earn PR points or whatever they are called, modify your bike of choice with all the upgrades and then start your career especially if you plan on doing it against the higher level AI. Stock bikes aren't powerful enough. Stock 250, forget it. That won't clear some of the bigger jumps. The fully mod one's are really fun to ride.
Once your bike is fully upgraded you'll have the same equipment as the in game riders/factory bikes. Not all bikes are the same though. They all have different stats once fully upgraded. Guess where Suszuki is on that list lol.

But I have never been able to mod my 250. It doesn't give me an option. I can only mod 450's.
For some reason in the lobby it shows the 450 but once you go to add parts you'll see the bike will have black plates but once you back out it'll show the 450 again. Once you're in the career or back into it you'll have the modified 250.
I was confused by this at first because I kept on seeing the 450 after modifying the 250 and thought I had just wasted a bunch of credits. I know that's not the case because all my 450's and 250's are upgraded to the maximum.
Concerning the customization I find it odd that once you purchase the tires, bars, grips, brake discs and wheels that you don't have to purchase them again for the 250/450 but if you buy a set of graphics for the 450 you'll have to buy it again if you want to put it on the 250 or vise versa. They bikes have the same plastic so we shouldn't have to buy them twice. The exhaust I understand buying twice but that should be the only thing and maybe the suspension. So currently graphics and suspension you have to buy twice. Once for the 250 and once again for the 450.
Just another observation I noticed. In the 250 class when you run the red plates you have white numbers on all 3 plates. In the 450 class when you have the red plate you only have white numbers on the front plate. For some weird reason the side plates have black numbers. Minor detail but that should be fixed. Love that it automatically goes on or off your bike if your leading or lost the points lead.
That said I received an error code today no less than 4 times. I fortunately didn't lose anything but had to restart the game.
Try it again later today/night whenever you have time. It's weird.
My game freezes every other time I get to this screen....
I haven't tried any of them on the 250 but with the 450 if I was to compare the official tracks of the game versus the one's people create the 450 almost needs a pair of ice skates. Not even close to being the same type of dirt/traction.
i picked up STEEP this weekend and played it non-stop. awesome game.
That's definitely an issue they need to fix. Having to restart the game in order to go from race to race is bullshit. Restarting it is not a fix but it seems like after you're past a certain point/race that stops happening.
I completed all the 250 East and 250 West career and 450 career. Went back to it and looks like it's fixed. I don't get it.
Pit Row
MES definitively needs a patch or series of patches in order for it to be playable without interruptions.
On PC (Steam), I am to the point now where I cannot enter a single race (single event, championship, career...no go)...when I hit the loading screen to take me to the event the game crashes with a fatal error every time. EVERY TIME. I was able to do 2-3 races last week when the game first released while working around several crashes, but now it fails every time. Pretty big bummer cause I thought it was fun as hell when I was actually able to load out.
I've tried re-installing the game, re-launching after fails, etc. and nothing works.
Are people still experiencing this even after the patch on PC, or am I the only one now?
On second thought does it do it as soon as you enter the career mode screen or after a race like mine did?
As far as your created character, you're stuck being a privateer. There's no disadvantage being one either. Modified bikes are the same speed as those riders. That said still would of been cool to sign with a team.
I know in the MXGP games you can and once you're on a certain team you have to achieve certai reasults. In MES you still have to achieve certain results during the career mode but it's done for "A" sponsor. One single sponsor and you're stuck running their hideous graphics that covers the entire bike. No matter what color bike you choose those graphics take over. Ride a Suzuki, choose GoPro as a sponsor and the bike turns blue. Choose Oakley abd the bike turns black. Milestone definitely missed the mark with that one. And the graphics you can run in single races or championship mode aren't great looking either.
But seriously it's too much.
Unfortunately there's nothing you can do about it. Only Milestone has the capabilities to upgrade the difficulty via patch but I don't think that's going to happen. Your only option is to go battle online.
