I wonder what lap times you guys run that find the AI so easy lol.

I don’t find them extremly hard but I do have a tough time with them if I mess up rythms etc.
Just off the top of my head Atlanta was around 57-58 seconds in the 250 class. I won easily by over 25 seconds. I also fell a couple times and at no point did second ever pass me.

Psh... Got to Seattle round and someone else was in my seat at Century Link stadium. Didn't even come close to looking like me. I'm going to get a refund.

I like it so far, won the 250 East already because I dont have PS+ at the moment to play online. I wish tge AI was more competitive with me, but I've been a monster at these Milestone games since the first one.

Is anyone else on PS4 having the game lock up for 5 seconds or so in the middle of races? Happened to me twice last night at Vegas.

I'm in the country but have enough neighbors they could bring us Internet but won't for some reason anyone on here use satellite Internet for dlc updates and I'm thinking to use the track editor, if I click on it it just says error connecting to Playstation network or something like that.
If you have enough neighbors to make it justifiable, have you talked to them to see about possibly splitting the cost to bring it out? Obviously if you only have a few neighbors it wouldn't be worth it, but if you have 10 or so and it's $7500, that's $750 each. I know it's a lot of money, but it will add value to your home that will easily be recouped if you ever decide to sell it.

on the left is the tv i started playing sx on. it was very glitchy and somethig just didn’t fee right. then i remembered playing mxgp3 on the tv on the right all the time and one day i played it on the tv on the left and i couldn’t figure out what the hell was wrong. it just didn’t feel right.

i just switched sx to the smaller tv on the right and it’s a completely different game. all a sudden i was ripping the tracks. same way i felt with mxgp3. it’s something about the bigger tvs. maybe someone else can explain it for me

if you’re playing on a huge tv and you have a smaller one....switch it and tell me i’m crazy

You would not catch any pro gamer playing on anything larger than a 27-35ish inch hd monitor or tv. Large Tvs are only for TV and Movies...

It took my little brother to show me that I was instantly way better playing grand theft auto, call of duty, forza and mx vs atv on his smaller gaming monitor. Shits flawless, never laggy at all, your thumb control and accuracy is a lot better, your peripherals are better etcetc. The gamers call it "awareness" .. lol..... My friends noticed it was almost night and day and themselves have converted to having a seperate 30 something inch gaming monitor.

Also sitting a max of 3 to 5 feet away from monitor with a gaming headset

No. It has everything to do with the tv’s internals and settings, not the size. Make sure you’re playing on a gaming mode on your tv at the very least. I game on a 65” Samsung 4K/HDR UHD TV. The panel, processors and adjustable settings are what make the difference.
65 inch is great tv.. for watching tv and movies... Not sayin its the end of the world or anything just letting people know that Holtergeist was right. Even if your big tv refreshes the same/settings are set for gaming the sheer size hinders your performance... period. Like I said, I said it was stupid until my little brother showed me. No serious console gamer uses anything smaller than a 27" nd larger than 38".

Do your best laptime on any track, then swap over to playing it on your computer monitor if you have one and repeat... im betting 2 to 3 seconds a lap and better control. When youre done that, try playing a first person shooter.

I though the AI was just super slow... then I realized it has been letting me race a 450 in the 250 regional career. NO WONDER, HOW BROKEN MILESTONE!

i don’t know about you guys but after i finished the 250 east series, the game kind of got boring. i think i had more fun with GP3, career-mode wise. they could have done a lot of things to make the career mode better; official teams would have gone a long way. i feel like they didn’t spend as much time on this game as they maybe should have to make it a really great game. gameplay is great, track editor is great, just wish there was more to it.

The gameplay itself has been pretty solid, minus the glitches in the first turn if you get a bad start. But there are so many bugs and problems in the career mode that leave a lot to be desired. Hopefully we see a patch within a week or so that helps straighten that all out. Also, have the loading screens been consistently long in all Milestone games? Or is it just this one? Was just curious since this is the first one I have purchased.

Bought the Switch version for portability. I haven’t tried docked mode yet but handheld mode is nearly unplayable. The graphics are severely downgraded and only 12 on the gate to boot so I’m not sure why it has such a poor frame rate. I’ll try to get some video tomorrow but I’m getting 10-15 FPS average at some points. Such a bummer.
No different on a PS4. 12 guys online and it lags bad.

ok spent some more time with it. like most of you i reached the SLC and Vegas rounds and the game froze up and quit. after restarting i was greeted with my rider being on a complete stock bike, stock gear, all the settings reset to default, and my level (63) intact. most of my credits are gone which sucks because now i have to start modding my bike and gear again.

as for the gameplay, i'm of the side that this may be the best moto game in terms of feel. i love the gameplay side of the game, it's spot on. cornering feels fluid and smooth, you can square them up, rail them, take the inside and get on the gas, tip-toe around the long circle-turns.

the clutch is gay.

i don't like having to reload my bike-setup-data before every session.

the loading is fucking horrible. once i load Oakland stadium, i shouldn't have to load again after qualifying, heat, and into the main. that's just poor design.

and again, the menu system is absolute shit.

i'm very hopeful the next patch will go after some of the bigger issues, but some of them are built into the game and i can't see them improving. the game should have been delayed at least 6 months to polish.

my internet is pretty slow so i don't have online activity yet.

the track creator is sweet, going to take a lot of trial and error to learn the jumps/bumps/corners. i did get on and race a couple tracks that other people made though and that's cool. the loading process to ride someone else's custom track was no longer than loading the next race in a series. i dig the shit out of that.

oh, and i raced the first 4 races in 3rd person and had somewhat of a hard time not re-setting my guy a couple times per lap. switched to 1st person, and while it took a good 10 laps to figure out cornering, it's fucking unreal. best first person experience in a moto game i've had.

really stoked with the game. wish they would have put more thought into some areas, but for the most part it's a really solid first attempt. can't wait to get more time in on it.

They have always been that long. Usually i finish a beer between races.

What consoles are y’all on that are having long load times? I’m on a PS4 Pro and the load times are shorter than MXGP 3.

That's interesting. Do you know anything about how resolution comes into play? I'm on a 27" QHD (2560 x 1440) screen. Is there a chance things would improve at a lower resolution? Performance is fine... 100+ FPS on ultra settings.

IMO MES is much longer than MXGP 2 or Ride 2 is to load.

First impressions:

I played for a couple of hours last night, finished a 250 season, played around with the track editor and did some minor bike tuning. Overall i'd say this is an improvement over the MXGP series, but still deeply flawed. Graphics look good, the track and bike models all look great, rider models look kinda bad but that doesn't detract much. Sound, menus and overall presentation are top notch once again. The fact that you can race heats, semis, lcqs and all those small details add a ton as well.

My biggest problem remain the controls. I played with all assists turned off from the get go and unfortunately it still handles like every other Milestone game. Some tweaks were made for sure, it feels a little looser and easier to control, especially in the air, but everything feels sluggish and on rails to me....and yes, the pre animated whips still look absolutely ridiculous.

Also, if you plan on playing this on the xbox one get ready for some LONG loading times and atrocious frame rate (i'm not kidding here, it gets REALLY bad).

So is it worth £40? Or is it worth waiting 3-6 months for them to bring out an update to fix the long list of bugs, and buy the game 25% off retail by then?

I am a gaming nerd. You’re incorrect. Simply the size does not matter. It is the hardware in the tv that matters. Go to rtings.com and look up your tv specs for info that matters.

I’m not trying to start an argument, I just don’t want misinformation spread.

Worth waiting. I've learned to play the game around the glitches because they're inevitable.

nah thats cool appreciate the comments, Im relatively new to this gaming thing.
Its only helping people on here maybe experiencing what each of us are.

But ya like i said its not simply the size...if u have a terrible screen vs a good screen size does not matter. But I figured if you had 2 options

a 32" screen vs a 65" screen with the exact same specs what would you choose?

Every video ive seen of MLG or Rooster Teeth people and nerds they are all playing on smaller tvs with high res/refresh.
Never seen someone play with a large 50+" 4k 240hz tv like I was used to

Spent a few hours yesterday playing MXGP2 before getting SX and was really surprised at how loose and fast the bikes feel in SX compared to MXGP2. In my opinion, that's not a great thing. Feels a little "arcadey" in comparison. I think getting a little more "weight" in the bikes would improve the feel of the game.

Aside from that, they got a lot of things right but missed a lot of little things. Just a few off the top of my head:

No flagger waving the white flag or checkered flag. Hell, nothing really at all jumping out to even let you know when it's the last lap.

The crowd is silent when there is passing for the lead but comes to life if you do a scrub in 14th place.

They’re trying to cut down on input delay as much as possible. They’re on computer monitors with very high refresh rates so they can run max frames per second and low input delay numbers so they can react and input commands as fast as possible. Typically computer monitors will have around 8 milliseconds of input delay where as TVs have a huge range going from 12 to 100+ milliseconds. The size of the TV doesn’t change the input delay, it’s the hardware and settings that does. You won’t notice a difference going from a 8m/s monitor to a 15m/s 55” TV or a 20m/s 65” TV. You will notice a difference going to a TV with 85 milliseconds of input delay, however and going to a TV with over 100 will be almost unplayable for many people.

I use to game very competitively when I was in college. For anyone reading this and having trouble with their TV, trying going under picture or input settings in their TV and look for something called Game Mode. Sometimes this is only found on certain HDMI inputs but most always will be available in HDMI or if you have a HDMI input labeled “PC”. This will put the tv into a mode that lowers the input delay as much as possible and disable post processing stuff meant to smooth out TV feeds. It isn’t uniform though, it still depends on your TV.

Played it last night for maybe an hour and immediately started a season. It starts you on the 250 as expected. Using the clutch in the corners doesn't seem to have as much of an impact as it does on MXGP3. In fact, I thought it was completely useless and the bike bogs coming out of the corner making it nearly impossible to clear some of the jumps.
Also a glitch where it will freeze for a fraction of a second in the last corner of the last lap on every race. It's as if the system lags a bit while loading the finish line animation.

That said, the tracks are really good for the most part. Some of the jumps seem retarded and impossible to clear on the 250. 450 may be better. Game play was extremely easy, but I also left it on the easiest setting while learning the game. I will change the physics and difficulty level today and try it to see if that makes things better. I do think it's an improvement over GP3. I got bored with that game really fast. The bike seems to respond better in SX to casing jumps and things of that sort.

My only real complaint at this point is the glitch I ran across as it's really annoying. Also after finishing a race, it seems like you have to click proceed 25 times to get though all the garbage.

Below is a decent review from a moto-gaming guy. He's pretty pumped on the game. Looks like you can create your own custom career by adding your own tracks, so that will give some extra life to the career mode. He seems to think the AI is somewhat difficult and it looks that way in the video. Are heat races harder than mains?

Not sure on how many MLG, professional gamers, streamers you have seen play competitively on a monitor larger than 27”. If it’s a game like Counterstrike or PUBG, at least, from my experience and knowing what lots of pros use, you don’t want anything larger than 24”. There’s a couple guys who use 26-27” but it’s rare. Typically the more you have to move your eyes to scan the screen for enemies/obstacles, the harder for you it will be.

I’m an avid Counterstrike player and play on a 24” 144hz HP Omen monitor. Used to play on a 17.5” laptop, that’s when it’s too small and you are slower to react to things at a distance or in dark corners. I believe 23”-25” would be the sweet spot.

Personally I prefer to play motocross games on my XBOX ONE that is hooked to a 50” 4K Samsung UHD TV. I like chilling on the couch when I play my moto games. Its a nice change from the stress/high pressure of Counterstrike lol. I’m sure I would race a little better if I hooked my Xbox to my monitor, but like I said, I like playing from the couch in the living room when it comes to MX games Cool

I see everyone has been putting up 2018 tracks too. There's a few bugs that could be worked out, but this game will keep you busy for a while. I even saw a 2014 Toronto remake while skimming through them. I can't wait to start making some of my own. I've been too busy trying out everyone elses

It’s a major improvement over mxgp3. I just wish during career mode you could ride for a real team like you could in mxgp.

At 3:31, he is talking about "Custom Bikes" in his career. Notice at the main menu his bike is and FC250, when he goes into the Custom Bike segment, his custom bikes are 450's. Had he clicked on that 450, he would then be racing a 450 in the 250 class. And it is completely legal. Can't race a 250 2T in the class, but I digress. Worse than that, once you select a 450 in the 250 class there is no way to get onto a 250 again for the class, you are stuck riding the 450 against the 250's from then on. The true definition of an * next to your title...

Incorrect. Go to the Main screen, go to customize, click on your 250. I usually go as far as going into the Components section. Hit the back button all the way to main screen, go back into your Career, and you should be on your 250. This is also how I make changes to my bike (add-ons) while in Career.

It's a hassle that shouldn't be, but it works for me.
