Who will be the next big name in Supercross?

I don't see any rider being dominant right now except for Jason Anderson and we are only 6 races in....if he keeps the rubber side down and wins the championship for the next couple years that would be an amazing feat for him. Until then, Dungey holds the crown and he'll be patiently waiting to pass the torch to the next dominant Champ, but it could be years before we see that rider rise to the top.

Maybe Justin Hill comes up to the 450 class and starts taking names on the yellow bike next year, it's long overdue for JGR.

Reed was faster than RV in 09 too. I just watched the whole season yesterday. There was a couple of races that he fell and had to get up and repass RV and he did pretty easily.
I think the future is Sexton, Hill, Mcelrath and Forkner. Anyone of those could go on a run in the 450 class.
Sexton reminds me so much of Windham.
I think AC and AP could be in there to if they fix their starts.

I'm hoping Savatgy can fix his weak areas and get a Kawasaki 450 ride. He has shown he can consistently be near the front outdoors and indoors on the 250. His smooth style could translate to the 450s.
Hope Justin Hill gets a 450 tryout during the east coast rounds!

Chase Sexton and Hunter Lawrence...

I think we will see them two dual over the next few years to come,,
Both young and same age and both have so much natural talent AND be riding on the same team.

I just want to see many riders do well when granted the opportunity. Not just one. May the best man win.

Chase Sexton 100%. Rookie year and has 2 or 3 podiums already and has led some laps. He’s gonna kill it outdoors. Geico must be pumped to have him

I don’t see JA dominating outdoors. He’s definitely been consistent this year so far but he’s been super inconsistent the past few years so he’s a mistake or two away from making this title a close one

Anderson has impressed me this year. He has clearly stepped up his game to the next level. I think he is 24 yrs old, about to turn 25, so he could go on a run for a few years before he ages out.

I don't even bother considering any of the 250 riders. There have been too many successful 250 riders fail to do anything on a 450.

All I know about Lawrence is what I saw at the USGP and MXdN last year. What's his Supercross experience? I can imagine with his talent and age, he'll pick it up as fast (or faster) than Ferrandis.

Yeah thats gonna be a big no.

Adam would have had to have a MUCH better last three years to be considered the next big thing.

Yeah, I like plessinger but I don't see him being the next big thing. I think he will be a guy who is typically around top 10 and may sneak a handful of 450 wins throughout his career.

From what I've seen out of Chase Sexton I think he could be the next big thing. I think he will get a win or 2 in outdoors this year. He could be a title favorite in SX and MX next year.

We haven't seen the best of Forkner yet. This kid has all the skills and speed plus a great team. When he gets it all together WATCH OUT

Didn't we all just think Webb was the next big thing?

It's really hard to predict the trajectory of guys out of the 250 class. I mean, I think we all knew Kenny and Eli would be good but after 4 years they have won a combined 3 outdoor titles and zero SX. And Barcia, after 2013 everyone was on board that train and it derailed. So 3 of the biggest name graduates from 250 SX have won zero titles on the big bike in the past 4-5 seasons.

I could see Anderson go on a mini-run in SX, take maybe 3 titles in the next 4 years. As I've said elsewhere, he's on a different level this year. If his consistency is for real he has a package that is going to be hard for anyone to defeat.

i´m in for Hunter Lawrence, the first race in italy was awesome, he held the composture and was super fast!
plessinger and sexton are two of my favourite, i dislike sexton´s personality tho, he´s boring hahaha

Does anyone know how Osborne is on a 450? He's pretty dominant on a 250 right now.

he won't have a lot of time to become a big name on a 450. He will turn 31 during supercross next season. He's good but I don't see him winning much in his first year, if at all.
So he will turn 32 in his second season on a 450. Chances aren't very high that he will ever win a 450 title.
IMO

I'm not knocking you guys but just out of curiosity, what makes you think this? He's never been consistent. He's never been even remotely dominant other than maybe a race or two. So why do people think he's gonna be so great on a 450? Just because he's tall?

Great question, I would tend to agree. The be the next big thing now, you have to podium every week. Plessinger just doesn't seem to be able to do that. Maybe his size will help on a 450, but so far he isn't the dominate rider in the 250 class. The east/west shootout in Indy will be a good test to see if he is faster than Osbourne.

I had seen him do a few amature style arenacross races here in Aus as a junior. kid can turn a bike quicker then any one ive ever seen and his skill with jumping and timing through rhythms is beyond what any person should with minimal supercross experience.
Geico are aware of this and have locked him in for 3 years of supercross.. i think he will pick it up as quick as sexton has and them pair will be the future of the sport.
