New swing arm adjuster like the big bikes.

Shock angle is less straight

wave disc brakes.

looks like it got a power valve.

Aluminum sub frame?

Integrated brake filler reservoar. External on the 2017 85.

Looks like there is no linkage on that shock too.

Not so much so for a 65. They could have just used the crate for one of their bigger bikes.

Especially if its just a small quantity shipping for promotional purposes.

I saw the same thing. Also, Yamaha usually ships small bore mx bikes (85, 125) in pairs. They don't use ratchet style tie-downs either.

Maybe this is some kind of demo or something.

If the YZ 65 sells well and they start taking a good share of the market I think you'll see a YZ 50 sooner rather than later. It would only make sense. I don't think it's going to take them as long to release a 50cc as it did for the YZ 65.
Pah! Yamaha don't need to!

Kids will start on a PW50 which will never miss a beat.
Then progress to a 50SX which will cause the old man to lose his hair!
Then when it comes to 65cc time the old man will be so sick of KTM shite that he's buying a Yamaha and will never touch a pumpkin again!

Great thinking by Yamaha!

Yeah they defintely don't come in crates like that. 85s come two to a crate. Saw this in a vid. Looks pretty small to be an 85. Sorry for the crappy picture had to use my phone to take a picture of it at work

Paper ad. It looks that way because the kid is/was closer to the camera. He was then edited/photoshopped in to create the ad.

That’s probably a preproduction delivery...may explain the fully assembled bike. Or, maybe Yamaha is delivering them fully assembled?

This is exactly what happened to me!
Jr. started out on a crf50 and progressed to a KTM Sr. Pro 50 (2 of them actually). By the time he was done with the KTM 50’s i had disassembled and assembled the (3 shoe) clutch somewhere near 1000 times. I completely hated both of them and was never so happy to get ride of a bike in my life!
Next bike in the line up was a KX 65. I’ve never been partial to Kawasaki’s, but couldn’t have bought one any faster... The KX 65 was a breath of fresh air for me, ole Dad could finally enjoy riding dirt bikes again.

And this type of thing is why I think Yamaha might eat up more of Kawi's market share than it will break-into KTM's mini dominance.

But it is good to see at least one manufacturer putting in the effort.

I don't know, i'm confused when i look at that bike haha.

I agree something is fishy. The bike in the Instagram photo does not match the current YZ85. The engine is way different.

Though this may or may not be it, I'm surprised nobody picked up on Jim Holley spilling the beans on the Houston Race Day Live broadcast. Right after the Dunlop kids segment "and Yamaha is coming out with their new 65 bike soon..."

I'm really liking what looks to be a power valve governor between the clutch and the pipe.

Why would it match the current (2003) YZ85? Yamaha is "supposed" to be coming out with a new 65 & 85. I would hope they wouldn't be the same as the current offering. It's more than a little dated..............IG photo shows PV governor while current 85 has no PV...........

Honda CRF250L's are crated fully assembled. All you have to do is charge the battery, add fuel, start and ride.

If you cant tell this is the real deal after seeing that photo for 1 second, you are oblivious.

I especially like the "too big for a crate" argument.

Yep and that more than likely means Yamaha is OK with it? If they're OK with it that pretty much confirms it's real. No?

Either way glad there's now going to be some blue in the 65 classes.

Question now is who will Yamaha poach from the KTM group of mini's?

Idk, I didn't ask Yamaha, I don't typically ask OEMs before I post things...actually, I can't think of a time when I did...like say the 17 CRF450R spy shots I took... Whistling Whistling Laughing

Hint; I was merely pointing out it’s a new bike not the current 85.

Maybe so but I've seen things being posted ahead of time on the site before and being taken down. Seeing as this is still up we know Yamaha has seen it by now and if it had been an issue with them this thread and the pic would of gone "Poof".

You know it, I know it and the rest of the members know it.

If they hit me up right now, I wouldn't pull it, not my problem.
