I wonder if they kicked him any extra money for all the instagram hype he created? Redbull made a fun commercial, but Ronnie made a 10 minute movie.

People complain about riders not being able to make a buck in the sport, and it seems like Ronnie's keeping himself in PBR and tater tots. More power to him.
He's like a modern day version of a Rodeo clown.

I'm personally not into it but , I do think it's kind of funny at times and some of the goon riding he does takes real talent.

There are a ton of not so die hard fans. You know, have a 4 -12 year old bike, maybe a four wheeler, a job , a wife, kids, family, and things to do that allow them to ride a dozen or two times a year. These guys watch a little supercross, but are a long way from being on Vital during the show to chat about the practice/racing. These guys are just now discovering Ronnie Mac, and are discussing how funny/cool/outrageous he is with friends of theirs who play golf and dont follow motocross. I know this because my physical therapist hit me up out of the blue about who is this Ronnie Mac character? He got kick out of it and it has his interest. If he is surfing the channels and comes across supercross he may stop and look for this Ronnie Mac character, instead of just keep on scrolling as he always has. His buddies who told him about it will definitely be tuning in. My point? Supercross needs Ronnie Mac, and maybe even other "characters". Having said that, I personally feel Ronnie Mac should cut the vulgar dick this and suck that talk down just a tad. His loveable clean cut cousin Jimmy Albertson would kick his butt for embarrassing the family with that vulgar talk over the airwaves.

I think Supercross could do a lot of fun things with RM. How cool would it before him to come out at opening ceremonies and narrate a lap of the track RM style?? RC used to do it for Monster Energy Cup and it was cool insight. Having RM send a boner air over the finish line or go through the whoops like a goon would be epic. I'm always cautious with the PBR stuff too. Maybe Muscle Milk or Monster Energy could do an "intervention" video where they get him off PBR and onto Monster, do a Rocky style montage, and voila! I would be out of my skin laughing if he gooned a whole lap of the track narrating it in Ronnie Mac style!

Jimmy as R Mac is painfully unfunny talking on camera. And for goon riding, he can't touch DV.

Pretty sure Jimmy said he's done with SX so don't think that's going to happen.

I don't even know if he plans on racing the outdoors or just do the commentating stuff like he did this summer.

I dont see how the AMA could keep the guy from running HiPoint or Budds.
He's got a Pro License. Or did.

They might make him wear some approved gear.
I don't recall, did they make a rule last year, after that guy qualified in jeans and a sweatshirt, that you had to wear approved gear?
The coveralls might not be a go, and no visor, the AMA might get on him for that.

But you watch, he starts talking crap about how he's gonna wipe the floor with everyone when he runs at Mt Morris,
and 65,000 people show up that Saturday, the AMA will all of a sudden be a bit more forgiving.

- "We now need to see Ronnie and Joey doing a hillbilly goon off"

Heck, get VroomVroomDana out there too!

It's harmless fun having a character like Ronnie in an off season niche race.

If we really wanna talk about things that de-legitimize the sport and make us look like idiots, how about dozens of barely-literate chicks with fake boobs and leather tube tops with giant green M's all over them for 17 races every Supercross season. Put them in front of the camera to attempt to read twitter posts a few times per show just to make sure everyone sees the goods.

I like a nice set of jugs as much as the next jackass, but that shit would be tacky at bumfuck county fair.

To the casual observer that knows little about MX and already leans towards the (earned) stereotype that MXers are rednecks, what looks like a spoof to you just looks like another Brian Deegan with spike shoulder pads to the general public.

Jimmy is a good kid who is liked by everyone so nobody is gonna stomp out the niche he's carved for himself.

But there is a reason you'd never see this in any other grown up sport. It's the equivalent of a NFL sanctioned personality that endorsed steroid use & donestic violence. ESPN tried that shit with a show called PLAYMAKERS years ago. The NFL shut that shit down as fast as they could.

Ricky Bobby has short term gains and long term damage to a sports image.

Considering that moto riding areas are endangered species, I would think positive PR would be paramount to everyone.

I simply cannot believe the powers that be, including RedBull, allowed Jimmy Albertson to "compete" in character against what are supposed to be perceived as real athletes. I was truly embarrassed for the sport. All these years trying to convince the general public that motocross is a real sport with real athletes who train and take their profession seriously is completely wiped out with that stupid Ronnie Mac character.

This "inside joke" everyone keeps referring to should not bleed into the outside impression of this sport, which is exactly what happened when those morons at RedBull Straight Rythm decided this was a good idea.

I'll stick to watching juvenile Ronnie Mac videos while I'm taking a shit in the morning. Otherwise, it's pretty fucking stupid and should not in any way represent this sport.

I don't know the guy is wearing overalls, open faced helmet and a 20 year old bike with cut fenders he was the only one sporting that stuff out there, I guess it's not obvious enough.

The guy is riding a beat up 20 year old bike dressed in overalls, Pabst Blue Ribbon gear and bucket helmet. The #69 on his bike, his swingarm says "I eat ass", and hes talking about his 98' CR250 is like a wild stallion and a fire breathing dragon. Not sure how anyone can think its real.

Without the 2 stroke show and the trash talking, the event would have been a dud. There was no other entertainment or drama. The Alta got whipped, and Marvin killed everyone. Without the 2 stroke class, it would have been kinda lame. The 2 stroke clas needs to be bigger. Hopefully Roczen will be in it next year. He seems like he might be down for it.

If you are a long time "legendary" journalist and think Ronnie Mac is real then maybe the "legendary" moniker should be removed because you are obviously a moron.
I think the whole Ronnie mac thing is way overrated and extremely unfunnny. Yet I'm not retarded and therefore able to understand it's just satire.

Whats this "we" shit you speak of. Who spent all these years trying to convince the general public that straight rhythm is a "real" sport with "real" athletes. Ronnie Mac ruined it? Is the sky falling? Everything will be okay. I don't think the general public AKA sport validation committee is that upset by it.

What peelout said is spot on. You would have to lack common sense to not know its a joke.

But that shows you the power of stereotypes don't it?

Playing into those stereotypes is bad business.

And yes, motocross carries it's own negative stereotypes it shouldn't be playing into. If you want the sport to have sponsors that is.
