I think he will settle for a 5th so he can take the title next week at Assen, at Herlings' home GP...

Cairoli has the chance to wrap it up this weekend. So we might see him go balls out to make it happen, or then he will just cruise around and play it safe. I'll guess he'll do the latter, but who knows. We'll see it on sunday.

Yeah guyb, Im aware of what he has achieved and the championship context but i think he might just see this as a big cheery on top of the cake....every US appearance he has made previously has not gone that well. The whole GP vs AMA thing has been around longer than some of the members on this forum have been alive. I don't think it can be underplayed in terms of its importance (even if no trophies or pay checks are given out). To me this is the one thing left where he may feel he has something to prove. Im speculating of course...

Pfffft, you are kidding right?
He's at 50% of his normal speed! LOL
Yup, just circulating at his 'cruise' speed.

There's still 150 points available in the GPs. He's 101(?) points in front. We've seen a certain rider lose whilst having a seemingly insurmountable lead, a few times in the recent past. Why would such an experienced man like Cairoli, risk so much for 'bleating' rights? Leave that to the kiddies, I reckon.

Heck, Tomac might just think about jeopardizing his potential Million Dollar / $100,000 earnings at MEC, and back things down.

But, you never know, Cairoli may go balls to the wall.

Those 2 straights in front of the Road Race main straight stands at Assen are a risky proposition - just go back and see what happened to Gajser last year. He was lucky to just get a 'mechanical' from it, and not to get hurt with only about a foot or two before you go into a chain link fence. That shit scares the crap out of me.

Herlings, Tomac and Gajser are the 3 riders that will battle of the win.
Febvre as well.

I don't think we see Cairoli at 100% until that title is wrapped up.

Herlings will be the one, along with Gasjer and Febvre who looked good at the last GP.

I think Max Anstie could be a wild card for at least one Moto, he seems to be getting better and better.

I would guess if he won he'd extend his points lead?
I was going to say he would score the most points, but close enough eh. Like minds think alike.Cool

Different track, different conditions, different weekend. The results at Ironman have no bearing on the results of the MXGP.

Not to be negative about Anstie but I really don't think he has any chance of beating an on form Tomac.

i want to see Cairoli do the same and go out to win. not lay over and take an ass whooping like ET

I think Cairoli will battle for the win. He rode very conservatively in Sweden, but he got two awful starts and it's a track that has bit him and many others in the past. The track this weekend will suit him, and if he gets the starts, he'll go for the win. If he matches Herlings' results this weekend then he will be Champion, so he definitely has some incentive to go for it. Tony enjoys racing in the US and I know he'll want to wrap up the title there if possible

A 1-2 or a 2-1 clinches the title. In front of the one country where he probably doesn't get the amount of respect he gets in the rest of the world. I think we may have an epic race, I only wish there were more US based riders(4,25.94) there.

It's kind of odd to me that all of the GP guys are waiting until today to travel over. That just tells me that it will be the Herlings and AMA show

Yeah, i'm surprised they haven't gone over early given the weekend break!

Gasjer is there though already, unsure when he arrived but he's been at Ricky's today.

I think he could be the thorn in the side story between Herlings and Tomac this weekend!

Many of them do it because of the jetlag. It's not as bad when you arrive shortly before the race.
Nagl always arrives on Friday to the overseas races

Was Belgian + British + German Championships at the weekend, so not a 'break'.

Alessi took him out in Moto 1 and he had a DNF if memory serves correct. BT won the second Moto.
