We have been hanging on to this bike for way too long, it the bike my son was injured on in 2005. I was originally built for Ryan Morias who raced it in the Glen Helen national.

2004 CRF 250 with a full Tom Morgan engine build. Trying to figure out whats its worth?

Not nearly what you want for it, or feel it's worth no doubt. I just sold a full race 06 CRF450 for 3K and feel I came out way ahead, even though it was priceless to me. I had offers as low as 2K with people thinking i was crazy to ask more.

While it does represent a tragic turning point in his life, I think I would probably just keep it forever. I can't speak to how you 2 feel about the bike that you've held onto this long, but someday he may look back and wish he still had his last race bike.

Agreed, it's not worth much. People will assume that it's a ticking time bomb. I'd either keep it or if you really want to get rid of it, I think you'd do much better parting it out than selling it whole.

I love it when folks post something like tholis up and never, and I mean ever, read the fine print or notes. See bottom of page. I always get people calling and quoting NADA values when they don't read the full appraisal. *Vehicles in exceptional value can be worth a significantly higher value than the average retail price shown.

We still have an 04 in the garage as well. Not worth much of anything so we just keep it. As a bit of a Honda nut though, the fact that it is a first year small bore, it has a little bit of appeal to me. Kind of like my first year 74 CR125, except it's not a 74 CR125.Laughing Those first year CRF's would shit the bed in grand fashion, ours didn't fail to disappoint in that area.Sad


Some people just don't have an attachment to things, but after all these years I would hang on to it.

The 2004's are only good as garage-space-taker-upers as riding them requires frequent valve replacement...

Sorry guys, it's a $1300 motorcycle. However, it's really only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If you can get more than $1300 for it, awesome! But don't expect it. I've been in the industry for quite a while and have bought/sold a TON of motorcycles. Regardless of what aftermarket parts/work has been done to the bike it's still a $1300 bike. Everyone thinks their bike is worth more than gold until reality strikes. This bike obviously has more sentimental value than it does monetary value. And that disclaimer means absolutely nothing pertaining to aftermarket accessories btw. It claims that the bike would be worth more in exceptional condition. Nobody can tell that it's in exceptional condition by the one photo.

Thanks for the appraisal guys, I knew it wasn't worth much. I had around $2500 to $3,000 in my head. I have an 04 Honda 90 quad that's going to get sold for $1,100.00 I guess it heldnit value more than the CRF.
There is some sentimental value but we are moving and I really don't think I want to have it keep taking up space....I'll have to think on it some more. I keep telling my wife how cool it will look in the game room but she's not buyin it

$1300 gets you a ragged out 2004 cr85, kbb or whatever values are bullshit. I would keep it because you won't get what it's worth, but no way would I take less than 2k.

Exactly what I was thinking. There is a bad stigma with 04 CRF 250s, no matter what it has on it. I bet if you part it out, you'll get at least $3000 for it. $1000 for the motor, $300 for Suspension, $400 for wheels/tires, Frame (with title) $200, Exhaust $200, Race Triple clamps $200....that's $2300 there and you still have a bunch of parts to offload. You will get ~$3K if you part it out.

Had an 04 back in the day. Super fun bike to ride. Could haul the mail on it. Didn't keep it long after I heard all the rumors about the engine and stuff. That's a super nice bike. I wouldn't take anything less than 2k for it. Hell the rims and tires on it could bring $500 easy I bet like the guy mentioned above. He a nice bike for someone that was meticulous with the maintenance and stuff.

While NADA is usually pretty spot on for cars it is absolute garbage for motorcycles. Outside of a 2016 or 2015 you can pretty much disregard it completely
