I caught up with Stefan Everts in Italy to talk about the progress with his Suzuki MXGP team and got his thoughts on the the battle between Cairoli and Herlings:

Cairoli King for sure, but Everts has just been a wanker when it comes to Herlings.

Winner as a racer, total loser as a person.

Everts has been getting trolled by the kid for years and has maintained his composure. Now he shares some critique and suddenly he is sore?

You must be a fanboy from Geldrop.

Knew it before I even clicked the link. Who in their right mind would think that Everts would ever say anything positive about Herlings?

I guess maintaining his composure is what got him booted. Hah. Clueless.

I thought that was a given. Tixier & Coldenhoff must be nervous out their rides too.

He went 2-2 and stayed out there when it seemed like he barely knew where he was. Herlings is tough

Yeah, not a lot of room with some young guns moving up, Searle without a ride also, at the moment.

Pff...all bullshit...cairoli is complaining for years now that the 450 is not 100% his machine. But now he's on top you don't hear anything...but when gajser and febvre got championships i read a lot of complaining about little injurys and switches to 450, back to 350 again 450. The only reason why Cairoli has the red plate is because the injury's of Herlings and Gajser...now he's the king? The last gp's Herlings was many times in front of Cairoli. If JH and TG were fit the whole season i'm sure the championship goes between them...

I remember when Everts called Herlings an animal in the sand. How things have changed.

Always the injury argument... If they get injured it's not Cairoli's fault. It just means that they went over their limits and fucked up. Cairoli won by 30 seconds. That's a long ass time man, just count to 30. There's no excuse. And he even said he was riding carefully... But whatever, you'll pull out some other excuse next week too I bet.

Herlings pile up of gp wins in mx2 and talking about getting Everts total gp record is part of the rub.
Funny here in the states event wins are not counted as meaning as much as the gp win total and why group mx2 and gp wins as equal in this history accomplishment check list? In the us we typically discuss premier class completely separate from the lites/mx2/250/125.

Not sure what he said that wasn't true. Its a fact that JH faded because he wasnt fit enough to stay with AC till the end. If he wants the title he's going to have to work for it. If JH doesnt like it, then do something to prove him wrong. Theres a lot of team managers who don't like cockiness, that JH has shown in the past., RD being one of them. JH has had his share of "Bagget" interviews in the past as well. I think I would be a little resentful, if I had to leave a team over a rider like Herlings. He got pushed out, can you really blame him. I'm sure he felt disrespected over it.

Yeah but he can run the pace unlike Webb so he has that going for him

"The last gp's Herlings was many times in front of Cairoli". No, Cairoli has beaten Herlings 62.5% of the time in the last eight motos. Get your blinkers off, if's buts candy and nuts to the injurys of JH and TG, sure it would've been a closer championship fight, but you'd be a fool to rule Cairoli out in this form whatever the circumstances! He's a wiley old dog who broke the Bullet at the weekend in the twilight of his career, was unbelievable at Trentino, has the red plate and is looking at a ninth world title - King!

WOW... complaining for "years"? He was the champ in 2014 and was hurt in 2015 and 2016. He complained about himself as being hurt and not able to compete and searching for a way to get back he experimented with the 350/450. He's healthy now and riding well! Rolls are reversed and Herlings was hurt at the beginning of the season and Gasjer of course crashed and put himself out of the championship.

The only reason TC has the red plate is he's fucking FAST and is putting in the results!

Herlings is my favorite rider, but he has yet reach the maturity of a Everts or Cairoli. He'll get there, and the naysayers should remember there is always another day.

Especially since Herlings coninstantly talked about wanting to break Everts GP win record......while racking up over 60 wins in the tiddler class.
