Or just cops trying to be dicks and ruin your day. But ya, those were the days. Rip outta the garage with a spare gas can straight to the sand pits. It amazes me how little area there is to ride these days. I was in a smaller town, but outside of MX tracks there was all sorts of areas. Now if it's not a prepped track, it's tough to find anywhere to go......and like you say, noise has contributed to a ton of that closure.
Where I grew up, all the cops rode with us on off days. Ask Johnny O, he lived a couple blocks from me back in the day. Yes, housing development happened everywhere, and the resulting crackdown on riding happened because all people could do was listen to the noise.

There are still a ton of places we could ride (even in LA County) because there would be zero noise, and ZERO potential for a fire risk.

I gotta admit that bike is stone cold hideous. I'm sorry.....the concept and what it could mean for the sport are all great things.....but somebody said it looks like a generic MX vs atv bike...agreed. Shrouds are awful. With all the R&D that went into the bike, the shrouds should have been the easiest this to design.
Who gives a fuck? Your just going to ride the damn thing!

I agree. And why did Vital make an electric bike section and then we get bombarded with electric bikes in the Moto Related section?Huh

Ya......I'm sure that's exactly what every bike manufactures designer says when a new bike comes out. Who gives a fuck, they're just gonna ride it. Maybe you rip a bunch of clapped out vehicles, I for one keep all my stuff pretty and sleek.

It takes on a different "electrical" Led lite look to it after it is turned on. Great for nite moto no doubt.

Great present from Fox! I expected a push from China, with more affordable bikes once the quality is sorted, but this electric one is pretty cool. Yeah a bit of finition (design/color) and a bit of weight, but in like a couple of years I think it will be one of the hottest thing to have. I can't wait to see some nice mods (maybe they should send one, for instance as many crazy people are here lol, to the crazy titanium expert that build the 500kx full ti. An insane build was a magnesium cr too). Basically I will not be surprised when they take 5-10% of the US mx market in about 3-5 years.

Don't blame the cops, man. The cops don't give a shit where you ride in the woods. It's the people in the neighborhood calling and complaining about it that's the problem. The cops have to do their job and follow up with it. Do you think anyone in the world became a cop to stop them damn dirt bikers? Use some common sense.

I like that pic of Hill's bike! Looks sharp! Marty Smith was my first hero in the sport. Great to see him still involved. As for the design, the three bars is not my favorite, but that would be the least of my thoughts if one showed up. They should make it all red with old school Fox logos for Marty. Fits the Redshift name too.

It's wonderful to see this level of innovation happening in this sport. This is just the beginning of what could be the biggest news ever with moto. These guys and their investors are no doubt taking significant financial risks, but they seem to be doing all the right things to give this idea legs. Major props.

Agree. There's another recap and video over in the Electric Bike section. http://www.vitalmx.com/forums/Electric-Bikes,48/Enduro-Racing-the-Alta-…

This bike is only going to get better. It's pretty damn awesome for an early version. Wait till 5-10 years from now and they make this even better and hopefully the prices come down. They will steal huge market share from the other makers. This is a company KTM or Honda needs to buy out before they get too big and can't afford them anymore. This is innovation!

This looks nicer then an Alta, but would ride the Alta of this.

Yes. I completely believe cops solely became cops to chase around dirt bikers. smh. I was chased by an over zealous cop while me and my brother were 5 and 7. Came screaming at us lights and sirens blazing through a damn field because he saw my brother turn around onto the sidewalk. That was my first run in with law enforcement on a dirtbike, and I've had it happen more times than I can count back when we used to rip straight from our house. Don't get so sensitive over a comment. I ain't attacking all law enforcement, I work with law enforcement every single weekend and have for the last 5 years, hell some of my best friends are cops. An TBH half my cop buddies hate a portion of their colleagues for being power wielding asshats. Do you really believe there aren't any cops that will gladly chase you down just cause you pulled your dirtbike on the street while going to ride somewhere? Use some common sense.

I get it. You must have some pretty shitty cops in your area though. My department, we aren't allowed to pursue dirt bikes or ATVs unless they committed another felony, obviously. Essentially If someone is riding down the highway or something we turn the lights on and follow them at a safe distance til they hop onto a trail. And the only reason we go that far is because if we didn't everyone else would complain that we're not doing our job. Every now and then we will get one that actually pulls over. We just tell them to call for a pick up truck to get them or push it to the woods. No one at my department would ever cite someone for it or charge them with fleeing. I guess all departments are different but with my own personal experience, my department is awesome when dealing with people on dirt bikes.

Anyways, back on topic, these things are definitely the future but they'll have to work on the design a little bit before they really take off. Performance is the most important aspect of a bike but we also want something that looks good. I'm sure within a few years they will design better looking bikes so it shouldn't be much of an issue in the future.

Woah there big guy. Cops choose to respond to calls and not to respond to calls. They could clearly ask "Were they driving erratically? Speeding? Okay, doesn't sound like a need for us to come out.". Its revenue generation, don't try to not call it what it is.

I wonder if the dudes that're CONSTANTLY bitch-bitch-bitching about shrouds, fenders...& looks in general...

Well, are they Interior Decorators or something? (Not that there's ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT!)

There are two types of people. Those who fear change because of their insecurity as to where they will fit in, and those who embrace the unfamiliar because they know progress is necessary for the sake of improvement.

The bike has an awesome design, very unique and modern, only the front fender needs to be redone to match the overall design better. Looks like an 09 Honda fender
