Just read the article and it was a rather dumb write up, to be honest. No shit, factory teams aren't going to give you a ride if you aren't getting wins, podiums and staying off the injury list. Did anyone really think that a factory ride should be rewarded to someone based on their "social media popularity" that an article had to be written about it? What Wilson is doing with the videos and whatnot (which are hilarious) looks to me that the guy knows he will be a privateer all season long and wants to have fun with it...

It’s an opinion piece. I don’t think a lot of people on here understand the type of journalism Racer X is putting out these days. I like most of the stuff JW and Matthes put out, but some of it is just for shock and awe in a slower part of the season. There’s a method to their madness, because if they just did rider interviews, Bike tests, and product reviews, they wouldn’t get the traffic they do by doing the shock and awe media. Well, I disagree with you and he started off saying “once again Dean Wilson s without a ride.” He also blames him for not having a ride over the last several seasons. Which we know that he had a bad break from Jeff Ward racing back in November 2012 at no fault of his own. What Weege is doing is talking in half-truths. This whole article was completely unnecessary and only brought harm to Dean Wilson. Probably because Weege is arrogant and didn’t like the grandpa video that Dean did.

Wow just read that piece weege did on wilson. Honestly just lost lot of respect for him. Thats his opinion to say what he did but there was no reason to put a pro racer on blast for having some fun and trying to garner some attention for sponsors. Do you blame him ? I don't. Its refreshing to see someone actually have a personality.

Can't put my finger on it but to me he is a dorky geek that is full of himself. I can't stand his voice or announcing style but that's just my opinion. I'm sure that job is not fun or easy. Imagine having to do commentary while watching the race on a TV monitor in a trailer. It would suck to attend the races but miss the actual live race that is going on outside.

What Weege was saying has some validity. I don’t think Dean is hurting his stock, but he isn’t helping it either. The people who do the hiring and firing for the major factory teams are a generation behind when it comes to social media. While I agree results should be the deciding factor, when choosing your 2nd rider popularity and marketability should carry more weight.

Jason Weigandt (sp?) is a Moran. I guess he doesn’t remember that Dean Wilson had a great deal to ride for Jeff Wards team initially, only the team folded out from underneath him at the last minute, at no fault of his own. It was too late to find a ride for the season. Dean has been forced to play catch up this whole time. Who’s fault was that? I guess Jason forgot about that little tidbit, and has forgotten lot about the challenges Dean has faced. Couldn’t Jason have taken a different slant to the article and used it...

Funny to see so many people rail on MXA and now you are railing on Racer X. Where else can you get this kind of info these days, Vital? The majority of the content on this site is made up by a bunch of stammering asshats in a forum that don't seem to be able to like or agree on anything...LOL I like Dean, seems personable, fun loving and a fan favorite. He also rides pretty damn good between injuries. Sucks that he always ends up on the injured list but that seems to be the nature of this beast...
