If they fine Zach for this pass, there are going to be a lot of privateers using websites like "Go Fund Me" to help pay for their last lap passes in the LCQ.

To me, this is ridiculous.

Something has to be done to make penalties in SX/MX less subjective and more by the letter of the law.

While I don't agree with Osborne's fine, I do want to point out that there is one big difference in these situations. Ride365 did not file a protest for Mookie in the Grant deal.

I talked to the owner of Ride365 on Monday and he told me they did not file a protest. To me, that says a lot of good things about Ride365.

This is all because of Pro Circuit. That's it. Lost a bit of respect for those guys. They know better than anyone that Savatgy screwed the pooch and were trying to back door the Championship through protest.

I'm usually a bit calm of the idiotic decisions made by Gallagher.. but damn.. this takes the cake. No fine for Grant when he intentionally torpedoed Mookie? That's right.. no fine because there was no protest.

I'm only stating a small part of how I feel about this situation. There are already numerous other posts that call out how bullshit the fine is. One example being the numerous take outs from repeat offenders going unpenalized.

This makes absolutely no sense. I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt in all the other questionable calls but this sets a terrible precedent. The AMA is saying Zach won the championship with an illegal pass? The pass was a textbook block pass and I haven't seen any pro have an issue with it other than Procircuit. How does the AMA explain how the pass is illegal in their book but the championship is legit?

Governing body means just that. Not some flagger who the "buck ends with". Someone needs to wake up, and kick Gallagher to the curb. Make it a panel of retired racers for things like this. The decision doesn't have to be rushed. Zero penalty should have been given. If anything, Zach should have one from the famous "retaliation" Gallagher talks as a big no no in practice with AC. what a joke

I'll tell you what is bullshit, this last corner championship on the line anything goes.

I'm happy for osbourne and the pass looked worse than what it was with the whisky throttle.

But this mentality of anything goes is stupid, its okay to go in a corner wipe a dude out and break both his legs to win a championship? I agree with a fair aggressive block pass but not a pass with intent to clean the rider out.

If you did that can you add Savatgys pass on Mellross a couple of corners earlier? Exact same pass except Melloross checked up.

Yeah... Zach is actually AHEAD of him in the corner when contact happens. This is a case of Joey sleeping at the switch and leaving the barn door WFO. The fine was a bad call. That pass however,.. was frikkin' awesome!

You and I are probably in the minority, but I agree. Savatgy got cleaned the fuck out... Like a limp noodle. Don't grab your pitch forks yet, I agree the sanctioning body is pathetically inconsistent, but where do you draw the line on acceptable aggressiveness?

Zach has been a completely different rider this year in terms of aggressiveness and his speed was very apparent at the Vegas race coming from last, and making up an insane amount of time the last two laps, he was on fire. His passes this year look like he is training with Barcia and Gretzky though, unable to pass without a slam which I think bitters my enthusiasm for his progress. You knew he would come in hot for the Savatgy pass, but I think he crossed the threshold to dumb and dangerous, Savatgy is lucky his leg didn't get hurt.

When did a Text-Book Block Pass start incurring penalties?
