They just made supercross look like the WWE. Good job guys, NASCAR now has more credibility than us. The overall impact his will have on our sport will be huge. So lame and pathetic.

Its not like it hasn't happened before

People saying it was wrong must have never owned or operated a business. Marvin rides for KTM, if he can't win the championship it is his job to help his teammate. If he can't win at least his EMPLOYER does. I would understand all the bitching if MM took ET3 out but ET3 did that himself, MM just added a small cushion....

NASCAR probably had more credibility anyway, but there was nothing lame and pathetic about it at all

Do people even know how TEAMS work? Why would they hire multiple riders if they already have the biggest title favourite? To help secure what they want, which is the championship.

It will be so incredibly stupid to pump all your money and resources into your championship contender and then have your 2nd rider steal away the points. Is it that hard to understand?

"Our" sport, promoted by the circus, officiated by Boss Hog and, contested at the highest level by children working for peanuts essentially, has very little credibility to start with gnarwhip. If Team KTM cost "us" even a handful of fans by blatantly doing their job, then I wish they hadn't been so blatant about it. But if you sir, are among that handful, then it was well worth it.

Anyone here old enough to remember back in '84 when Honda put everyone that had in the 250 class to help Lechien try and win the '84 250 MX title. Or how about the Russians going after Falta (I think that's his name, right?)
Sure are a lot of crybabies these days. I, unfortunately, had to watch a youtube recording of the race on my ipad since the damn DVR didn't record, again, and after reading how Marvin pulled over, I wanted to see the actual incident. It looked to me like there were two ruts in the sweeper turn, and to me it looked like he started to high side just a little on the inside rut. I couldn't see it very well on my tiny screen, but I'm not willing to hang anyone just yet. If Dungey finishes 3rd in Vegas, this whole whiny situation becomes a non issue as the three extra points won't have made a difference anyway. Play ball, let's get this last SX out of the way so we can move on to MX.

Downard254 gets it. Lot of crybabies. It likely won't matter in the end, but ET's bad finishes will.

Unfortunately this is an individual sport...or so we thought...this isn't bicycle racing.

Marvin should have stayed in second. End of story. Passing him only to pass him back created this.

Man Dungey looked like he got a massive migraine at 14:05, kinda weird. Maybe just massively irritated by these press conferences.

This. I am okay with teammates (as weird as it is in a supposed individual sport) that help each other, but straight up finding ways to give up a race win is hard to swallow. Marvin I assume had to swallow a huge pill to make himself do that and then lie about it saying it was a mistake.

And that's all it is, I hate the lying to everyone part of it. Of course it makes business sense to pull team tactics, but why can't people be upset about it? I want to see the best man win every time regardless if they're in the hunt or not. But now we got a couple guys who might give up a potential race win to Ryan for the sake of a contract/money while Kawasaki only has Grant to help Eli. It's unbalanced in terms of a team sport.

Oh well, lets see what happens in Vegas.

Actually I thought the questions were very tame and the reporters were skirting around the issue. You know in other sports the reporters would ask Marvin straight up why did you give the win to Dungey. The PR reporters, Ralph and Emig all calling it a "mistake" not to upset the riders they cover.

Yeah. But if you're an individual employed by a factory TEAM, you do your job. Marv's job is to win titles for KTM and by extension, not cause them to lose titles. To most people that work for a living, this isn't a hard concept to grasp.

Didn't Webb have the lead in a 250 race and let Martin by in the end a couple years ago?

What percentage of race attendees do you think are serious fans? 5%? 10%? The other 90-95% probably didn't notice and don't care if they did. That's who Feld is after. The casual fan that doesn't ride but will turn on the circus on Saturday nights. The possibility of team tactics doesn't hurt the sport any more than 4 strokes and flat bill hats.

It's hilarious how a portion of vital is calling ethics violations and trying to justify how this is tarnishing the sport FOREVER.

Agree

The fact that jg33 stayed afloat ahead of tomac is more shocking than mm25 playing easy..

If you look back through the years there are MANY times when teammates have made it easy on a points leader...long before the championship was in question.

bicycle racing - especially road racing - is a big team sport. So is supercross/motocross which is why riders are always praising their team and phrasing things in "We".

Team orders or not...who gives a sh*t? If I was leading my friend at the races with no chance at the title, I'd pull over for my buddy who did. BFD!

The level of intellect on display in these Dunge/Marv threads is laughable.... Some of you guys make me wonder how you navigate daily life given the posts I'm reading.

Good god people, there are millions of dollars at stake, they race for titles, and you do whatever you need to do in order to win - just like every other form of motorsport. Get over yourselves.
