2006 Yamaha YZ 125 - mine is very trick
Worse:
2004 Honda CR 125 - Takes A LOT of work to make fast (and it still gets smoked)
Unique:
1984 Honda CR 60R - trick mini bike when I was 8 years old. Had more travel and quicker than the 1984 KX 60. Honda quit selling it in the US at the end of 1984 and Kawaski introduced a liquid cooled KX 60 in 1985. That little bike was a rocket.
Owned: 1980 JR 50, 1984 CR 60, 1989 KX 80, 1989 CR 250, 2003, RM 250, 2004 CR 125, 2006 YZ 125, 2006 YZ 250. Next bike will be a 2018 CRF 250 or KX 250F.
2009 Honda CRF450 was the worst.
Worst: 06 CR250F - felt like it had less balls than a CR80. Turned well though.

Worst: 1997 Honda CR250R - Immediately regretted selling the 93.
I never liked my 1981 yz 465 although I wish I had it now.
My favorite 4 stroke is my 2005 yz 450.
Best: 1987 CR125...close second my 2000 KX250
Worst: XR650R I am convince your last name needs to be Campell to ride that thing well.
Worst: 92 KTM600 LC4 XC - left foot kick, stall machine. arrgghh
Scariest: tie between my clapped out but fast 94 KX250 & 07 CRF450 - ex national pro's bike. I either won on it or went to hospital.
Worst: '02 TM 250 I actually quit riding because of that bike, sometimes it would hit in the middle of a corner, sometimes it wouldn't. No lap was ever the same lol
best: '00 CR250
Worst - 1981 Maico Mega 2 250 - Too fragile for the way I rode. Good bike but broke too often.
If I could find a clean '86 I'd replace my '08 CR500AF engine. They don't make em like they used to.
Worst: '84 KTM 250. Loved the handling and power but broke crankshafts frames and chronic blown headfaskets.
Worst: '01 CR125 - God, what a fucking turd.
Worst bike I have owned was my 1999 RM250, got terrible headshake, was twitchy and completely unreliable. POS.
best/ favorite 09yz450 they where sweet!!
Worst: 2002 CR 125 It's incredible how slow that thing was......
Odd to hear that, I know, but I got one new and raced it quite a bit for over 2 years without ever having a single problem with it. I was racing and doing decently well in the then 125 B/Intermediate and Schoolboy class so it isn't like the bike was being babied on the track.
We always got told how horrible the motor was because the valves would stretch and grenade the top end so we checked them a lot but they never got out of spec. I even once ran a practice at Lake Whitney in the morning with no oil in the motor! That's a long story but the bottom line is once we thought I had seized it, we added oil and it came back to life! Mine must've been a lemon which for a bike with such a bad reputation is a good thing.
Pit Row
Instant power band in any gear. So balanced that it would easily allow you to pull 5th gear wheelies at full throttle for as far as you want. Having only ridden 125's prior to it my initial impression was respect the throttle or die like a fool.
All my other bikes were good to me. I guess if I had to pick the worst bike it would be the mini bike with the 3 1/2 hp Briggs &Stratton from 1967..... does that even count? All my 125s were Yamaha YZ's except for the 74 MX. Loved em all.
Worst 1990 YZ125
Worst bike Ive owned : 1998 WR125 Husqvarna.
The Yamaha was just one of "those" bikes....I raced it at a PJ1 arenacross series races one weekend , the following weekend would be a hare scramble or enduro with evening motocross on Tuesdays or Thursdays. It would eat pistons and clutch plates on a monthly basis. It also had a tendency to crack frames X4 but it will always be my all time fave.
The husky was an expensive nightmare. Cranks. Cranks. Cranks and more Cranks...powervalve governors x3, stators x2 , frame x2, broken front fork leg 1 upper 1 lower. The motor was so far off pace that the handing seemed ok. Soon as the motor woke up with porting, head mods and a good pipe then the handling started to suffer. I pushed that thing out of the bush more times than I'd like to remember......junk.
As a motorcycle mechanic for 22yrs Ive had my hands on a lot of machines....very few things I see now surprise me.
People can make a mess outta the best of anything and people can improve the worst things ever produced.
Honorable mention to 87 & 93 CR250r's raced back in the day.
Worst - 1997 & 2001 CR250r's. The 1st & 2nd gen AF's from Honda were stiff as a board !
Worst bike? Never actually owned one. Loved all my bikes. But I rode with guys that worshipped early 1990's KTM's and they always seemed to have weird issues that were crazy, unheard of to me, owning Honda CR's from 83-2000.
Best bikes, my 04 and up RM250's I had and also 2012 rmz 450 best handling bikes hands down even if your suspension sucked they still cornered lol
Worst - 14 crf450
Worst-2012 Beta 450RR.
Worst: 92 RM125, 99 KX250
