You have no idea how difficult it is for anyone to pass a professional such as Reed. If Reed wants to be in the way, he's going to be in the way. Ask Tomac how hard it was to pass Grant on that track. Some of you act like he was trying to pass a C class weekend warrior on a wide open Unadilla track or something.
I know it's not easy to pass a guy like Reed, but in a situation like that where he absolutely had to make it happen, he never really tried to put a move on him. My point is, if he couldn't pass someone who was lapping 1.5-2 seconds slower than him without the guy eventually moving out of the way, how was he going to find a way past Tomac even he'd have caught him?

I don't think Dungey's inability to pass Cathy had anything to do with ability actually. I think it was more about what BS would Cathy pull if he did? Total crap shoot as to whether it was worth the risk of Cathy making contact and either damaging equipment or taking RD down. In this case, inability = choosing 22 points instead of a whole lot less.

Regarding catching Tomac... We'll never know. I do know that both riders were making mistakes and RD was definitely chipping away at the lead. Since Tomac has turned around his arm pump issues, no one has been able to chip away at any lead he had. Dungey was doing that and I would have loved to see how Eli reacted to this new pressure. But Cathy ruined the chance to see that.

I liked the move by reed!! Fuck dungey!! Everyone doesn't want to piss him off or rub the golden child the wrong way!! Loved it reed!! Dungey should have parked reed, honestly, that's what reed would have done, roles reveresed. Bring back the old school days of racing and not being politically correct all the time.

Always super witty, but not even witty or anything. Don't think many got the reference. On the 1-10 scale of "never saw it coming and wapahhhh", I give it nine Barcias. So pitted.

So Reed had already left the stadium within 20 minutes of the race ending?

Did he think a mob was coming after him? We know he isn't scared of Gallagher or Dungey.

Maybe he knew Goose didn't like getting left behind to make that hike up the tunnel two weeks in a row.

Figured he would stand his ground and speak his mind.

That was a really good article. I liked the insight from Bradshaw and MC.
yup I think the bit about his run in with Canard in the infamous blackgate was interesting, so he slammed Canard for crossing jumping (and knocked him off his bike for his troubles) yet he is quite happy to do cross jumping in front of Dungey?

Didn't Reed get knocked out by some dude from France at an after party?

IMO you saw exactly how the race would have played out if Dungey had caught Tomac, but just with Reed in the place of Tomac. If he wasn't going to force his way around a rider in 16th place I don't see how he expected to make the pass on Tomac. Eli wouldn't have moved out the way and would probably be going faster and trying harder to not let him by than Reed was. I know the whole thing is that Reed jacked up the whole possibility of seeing a good race, and there is no excuse for that but I just feel the result would have been no different and there probably wouldn't have been a good race. It was evident that if a rider didn't want you to go around, you were gonna have a hard time getting around them.

Not trying to defend Reed or hate on Dungey or whatever, I want to see a nice battle as much as the next person but realistically I don't think it was going to happen on that track.

An Aussie KOed by a Frenchman while drinking? Shocked Laughing

Never read or heard anything about that. Probably going to have to call BS on that one without further proof.

...nice read.

Damon Bradshaw won 19 Supercross main events in his career and was watching the St. Louis race from home. His reaction was that Reed should have moved out of the way.

“Dungey definitely handled this better than I would have,” Bradshaw said. “I would have definitely ran it in harder if I had the opportunity and I also would have been yelling at the top of my lungs. And I definitely would have caught him outside.”

Dungey is a great rider but he's not exactly known as "the beast"

Matthes with his blame pie is silly. I don't get how the blame is anything other than 100% on Reed. Dungey didn't break any rules. Chad did, and was penalized for it.

He's never had to be. He's simply had to beat everybody else...
