AKRON, Ohio — A Streetsboro man is accused of shooting another man to death over a stolen dirt bike allegedly being sold online.
According to police, William Knight, 63, faces a charge of involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault in the case.
According to police reports, an Akron man on Feb. 4 reported a dirt bike was stolen from his unlocked garage. He then noticed it for sale on a social media site.
The man made several attempts through social media to contact the person attempting to sell his dirt bike, police reports state. After several attempts, he was able to finally meet up with the alleged thief around 9 p.m. Monday night in the 700 block of Danmead Street.
The man took his 63-year-old father-in-law and his wife with him.
He then got into a verbal altercation with the 24-year-old man who was attempting to sell the dirt bike. The alleged thief tried to flee the area on the bike and started to drive toward the man.
That’s when Knight reportedly pulled out a handgun and shot the thief. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 24-year-old’s name is being withheld pending positive identification and family notification.

Shuld've called Dungey for advice. "It's just a dirt bike"
The 24 year old stole the bike and was trying to run down the real owner (the man). The man's father in law (63) shot the 24 year old. It never says how old the man (owner) is.
Pit Row
Its not on the seller if he bought it from someone. He didnt steal it, bikes get sold with a BoS all the time, not that I would ever buy on without a title, but it happens.
Its not worth dying or going to jail, especially for a YZ85. Maybe a CRF450R...
2, if you're not agile enough to get out of the way you shouldn't put yourself in that situation.
3, if you're not tough enough to keep the got off the motorcycle, you shouldn't be putting yourself in that situation.
4, if you have the buy set up from the guy that stole your motorcycle, you should call the cops for them to go with you so you don't end up in this situation.
Can't have it both ways.
Dumb move.
Yea, when you get into that situation you go ahead and give me a call and tell me how easy it was to pull a gun out on somebody that already has the draw on you.
I swear, some you think it's just so easy to pull a gun and pull the trigger, yeah wait till you're in that situation and see how you really Act.
EDIT . I'm 100% for gun rights.
