We picked up this 07 TTR50 for $450 last night. He will be 2 in July. HA He has recently become almost obsessed with dirtbikes he watches the races with me and says braaap every time someone goes off a jump. It cracks me up. So because of his recent obsession I thought I might as well get him a bike. And now here we are. It needs some BNG's and few little cheap things but other than that it is very clean.

Looks good man! Some of my favorite memories are riding with my father on my little PW80 in the woods. I'm sure your son will feel the same. Have fun, and enjoy the bonding time!

My kid just turned 4, been riding a pw50 for awhile. Got him a Oset 12.5 yesterday. Check those out, cause unless your kid is huge he won't be able to hold the bike up without training wheels for a couple years. Seen videos of kids riding the oset's at 2

Awesome I'll check them out. I've got training wheels for it already. I think hell love moto ,seems like it doesn't bother him to kamikaze himself off the couch or coffee table to scare the shit out of his mom so falling over shouldn't bother him when it comes time haha. Thanks for the idea.

awesome man! I bought my daughter a ttr50 for Christmas in 2015(she was 2). Bought brand new because it will be around for a while since my son is only 1. Only thing we have done is run the carb dry after riding it since it sits for a while in between uses. Getting training wheels for it soon. They are awesome bikes. My daughter loves it because she says its a small version of my bike, 2014 YZ450F. Enjoy the times you two will have together riding!

Yeah I can't wait to ride with him. I'm actually going to rebuild this 70's era Yamaha GT80 that's in my dads barn to ride along side him so it should be a blast seeing him grow with it and hopefully have the same passion for it as I do.

Your going to love it. My son started on a jr 50 at 4 yrs old. Never needed training wheels on the jr 50 because he rode his strider bike none stop. Ended up racing bmx more than moto because there is a track near the house. There is nothing better then hitting the road with your son and riding. He is 7 now and scares the shit out of his parents on a kx 65.

Basically gave this 2012 away that I bought new for my nephew. Even added some bling to it for him. It had maybe five hours on it, total. $850 was book value, and that's what I took for it. Have a 2006 PW 50 , less than 10 hours on it as well. Couple of high end mini bmx bikes.

The Ipad kept the hours low on things.Shocked

You're gonna need a long tie down rigged to the rear fender/seat and maybe a new pair of running shoes. Trust me its a great workout.

What does work is to throw rocks at them while they're practicing. A well placed rock to the back of the helmet makes anyone go faster. J/K

You're not kidding I have heard these things to. I actually watched a moto mom run along side the track screaming at her kid the whole race and when he finally tipped over she pushed him back down and walked off with his bike. It was the only time I ever wanted to punch a woman in the face. haha
Honestly If my boy rides and loves it great, if he don't OK. My wife is a hardcore barrel racer with horses so he pretty much has two insanely expensive hobbies at his disposal. Although she says he has no choice with horses, if he wants to play a ball sport then I'm ok with that to I didn't start racing until my senior year of high school so I got to do the ball sports as well.

My only advice to you is never EVER sell it. My only regret is not keeping the PW my kids started out on....I would love to still have that bike. The $900 I sold it for probably seemed like a lot to spend on dirtbikes at the time.....little did I know Blush

If you have half as much fun riding with your son as I have with my son and daughter, you are going to have a ball!
You two will build a life time of memories together because of riding.
My son started when he was 3 on a KTM Jr Adventure 50 and that scared the crap out of me.
I tied a rope to it and tried chasing him like someone mentioned above and that didn't work too well.
Kept him off of it for a few months until he turned 4 and then just let him go.
We have pretty much ridden together every weekend (at tracks) and still do to this day!
He is 19 now. That is him in my avatar on a YZ125. He rides a 250F now.
My daughter doesn't ride on tracks but still rides occasionally at the track in the desert.
She started when she was 8 and is 22 now. Great times!
Enjoy your time with your son and congratulations on the bike!

My son was born yesterday. He is 30 hrs old and I am looking online, in the hospital at bikes and sprinter vans. Lol

He would make all the noises and climb up with me on my bike to ride in the yard all I'd need to say was grab your skid lid and he'd be off to ride this... excuse the red plates I don't race anymore and friends with a printing business did them for me as advertising Smile

He loved bikes so much we went out and bought this...


It was a non runner had leaky forks but we bleed yellow so it was a good base to build this ....

It now has stuterbump traing wheels on it and the young fella is 2 and a half and loves it Smile
Love seeing the dads get kids on bikes and not the playstation hope you and your son have loads of good times like we do.

Some of my best memories are riding around with my son on his crf50, disappointingly he is 10 now and moved away from bikes. Luckily I kept it for my princess, added some pink grips, plastics and seat and she tears it up. The smile it brings to her face and the frown it puts on her mothers is priceless.

I played stick & ball sports as a kid and all through school until about my junior year in highschool. My son has pretty much done the same. Bought him an XR75 as his first bike. Was actually pretty good with a manual clutch right away. Never did take to MX like I did. He loved his football and baseball more. No problem, as long as he was happy and active.

Sometimes I feel as if there is so much negative on here that we need random positive threads like this one. I love hearing about everyone's riding stories with there kids. Like Davey Coombs said in the PulpMx interview, We need to get these kids off of the x boxes and I pads and get them on dirtbikes.

This is my youngest son. He has little interest in riding but I convinced him to try it one day after years of asking.
He did 1 small circle around the car and said, nope don't like it. I said, give it 10 mins at least.
2 hrs later he was brake sliding into this corner every lap. Rode that bike twice more (after I fully knitted him out) after that day and hasn't ridden since. Bought him 2 bigger bikes as he's grown but I'm convinced he won't ride ever again.
He does like going to watch the races locally.

Make sure you have the battery charged on the TTR at all times or a backup with kickstart it sucks when your kid wants to ride and the battery is dead and no kickstarterSad Hold on son it will be ready in 25 minutes !!!!!!!

JR50 looks AWESOME where did you get the graphics and seat cover?

We added a stock pro taper bar pad repainted the engine red grips and gold foot brake tips as the original was so bent we could not straighten it I'll take some new picks soon it's a sweet looking jr now such a shame they don't make them anymore. And thanks for liking it Smile
