In the 90s it was pretty much McGrath. In the early 2000's, it was RC and Reed as "the guys" to beat. Then it was James. Then Villopoto. You get the idea... Now it's Dungey with Tomac right there. Roczen has the potential but was a freak accident away from dominating the 2017 season.

Other than the above mentioned, who has the most potential to be the next dominant force in the 450 class?

I want to say that it'll be Cooper Webb, but we will see. I like Justin Hill and Aaron Plessinger as good wild cards once we see them on a 450.

Roczen is still very young. He could dominate the next 5-6 years if he can heal up fully.

Hopefully no rider will dominate in the future, and we can have very close championship battles for a while.

But, if I had to pick one I'd say Cooper Webb.

I'd say Roczen...but I'm worried he won't be the same after that crash...that injury was brutal...I'm worried about nerve damage and other things. I hope I'm wrong! I love watching that guy ride a dirt bike.

He might be able to but although he is young he has been riding at this level for a long time (6 or 7 years) in MXGP and SX/MX in the states. I hope that and his injuries don't effect him too much as he is awesome to watch ride.

Am I mistaken or is the picture mirrored and Matt has two on the brake and the full four-finger-Skippy on the clutch?

Cooper Webb, maybe Tomac or Forkner. I'm being a buzz kill I know, but I don't think Roczen will ever ride again with the intensity that he did prior to that last accident. I mean...it HAS to effect you. Canard is great, but he's certainly not the guy who was winning SX races before his huge accident. Name me one guy who has ever come back from a potentially career-ending injury like Ken suffered and has been the same when he healed up.

Exactly. And Tomac is riding amazingly right now. I doubt Roczen would have dominated like he did in the first race. People act like he went 8 or 10 races into the series and crushed everyone. He dominated round 1, Dungey kept him honest in round 2 and he was being beat by Dungey in round 3 when he crashed(or was it round 4? I can't remember exactly.) Point is, he wasn't as dominant as some people here think.

Pro MXer's have a way of overcoming some gnarly injuries. I won't be surprised either way if Ken makes it back to where he was or not. I hope he gets back to the top of the sport in a year or two.

And on topic, I don't think we'll see anyone dominate with the current crop of riders. I think Dungey retires after this year and next year we see Tomac, Webb and maybe Roczen duke it out for championships for a few years. Forkner has the potential after he gets his rookie shenanigans hashed out and Tomac and Roczen get past their prime. No one is going to dominate tomac, Roczen or Webb. They're too good.

Wait so who's the guy that won motos by 20 seconds the past motocross season? I believe that was Kenny. And I believe he dominated that series.

I don't thinks it's as simple as the next guy is going to just show up and be THAT guy. Kenny and Eli have technically been around for a few years, and I think those two guys are going to duke it out for the next two years. Right now, it looks like Webb could be the guy after them, but he's going to need this year and probably next year to get up to speed with them. I don't really see him having the "it" factor that Ken and Eli currently have. Not to say he won't get it, just doesn't have it yet, and over the years, there have been many who never got "it". We'll see though. Other than those three, I really don't see an incoming "Tour de Force" on the horizon. Forkner looks good, he just hasn't dominated yet.

I know this might sound crazy (especially given the last few years), but I really think AC will do well when he moves up.

Roczen is born in 1994, Webb is born in 1995.

Roczen is the guy.

Forkner is going to win many titles as long as the injury bug doesn't bite him too often.

Maybe. I think it's smart to see how he is when he returns from a year long injury. It's one thing to miss a half of a series to one series, but it's another to miss an entire year. If you figure though, he misses this whole year, it'll most likely take all of next year to get back into the groove, so best case scenario he's back to his normal self in 2 years, if ever. I hope he can get back up to competing with Eli and whoever else is the cream of the crop in 2 years.

Im going to say that if Roczen can come back as a mere shadow of his old self it will be nothing short of a miracle.

I think Eli is emerging now and Webb will continue to grow.... i think the next guy after that is Forkner.
