Problem is, we all know that we need long lanes for racing opportunities... especially with four strokes where the inside line is now no longer really a concession...
BUT, with four strokes, if you have long lanes, they're going mach 10 into supercross obstacles and clearly there is a mandate to slow the riders down, regardless of timed mains. Why else would you consistently create short half-length lanes when you've just recently had an example of the great racing provided by a "bigger" track...
The answer is slow the bikes down and let the riders race... but. Well, we're fucked.

I agree, was hoping for some really long lanes. Difficult to gauge scale from the pic but none of the lanes looks very long. Be interesting to see how beat-up the track is by 450 main!
All those tight switchbacks really make passing nearly impossible. I was there last year, walked the track with JT and he said it, and sure as shit he was right. Finish line jump looks like a Wall!
The start will have a nice little sand berm/rut in it from the races unless they groom it every moto.
They need to carve out a 50yd by 100 yd space there and create a normal SX track. This has almost become Straight Rythm with nasty switchbacks. Not So Straight Rythm?

Switchback sections breed one line. Inside-inside.
but really, it looks great, but as we all know the daytona dirt is softest on the circuit and smells like ass. All those beautiful bowl turns will have a 3 foot rut in them and it will be follow the leader. With some hard dirt it would be a great layout.
