Solvent for cleaning parts?

I agree. Water base is the way to go. Always use rubber gloves when handling petroleum products. I don't think absorbing kerosene through your skin is good

We been using diesel fuel with some Marvels Mystery Oil so it wont dry your hands.

What water based solvent? Some of that stuff can be pretty harsh too.I know there is commercial stuff out there like Safety Kleen but it is high dollar and they want a contract.

I use varsol. It's basically the same thing as kerosene, but not as strong and doesn't have as strong an odor. it costs about $30 for a 5 gallon pail and it goes a very long way.

I have a bioremediating ozzy juice parts washer. Works well, but can rust the shims if you don't use water displacer on them immediately. Suspension internals just get contact cleaner. Motor parts get the water displacer.

Kerosene .......

A shop I used to contract for used concentrated Simple Green....was very effective.

We use naptha.

O'Reiliys has some stuff they call parts cleaner...cleans aluminum like no other, pretty much eats away everything including the paint inside the parts washer and the pump. Has a nice odor to it that pretty much melts away your lungs. Long story short, stay far away from it.

Anyone try the HF parts cleaner? Id like to find something that is low odor, wont melt aluminum, but still effective

What are you guys using for anodized parts? Such as PC triple clamps?

I used some Bel Ray electrical cleaner because I didn't want to chance using Liquid Performance Brake Parts Cleaner. The Bel Ray didn't work very well.
