Its 4am and I think that I have slept enough in the last 24hrs. The meds are finally wearing off and I am becoming more sober every minute!! So as first thought on my knee turned out to be wrong....In a good way. I had some floating fragments in my knee that came from my Femur when I had my moment in Houston. Doc removed all three pieces and also took nealr 15% of my minuscus that was damaged. At first thought he told me I could be out up to as long as 4 months!! Talk about getting kicked in the nuts and punched in the eye at the same time!! Well thank God it will not be that long, it is going to be about 4-6 weeks instead and I am going to make a full recovery. By Monday I can start spinning on my spin bike then therapy soon to follow. As many times as I have been down and out without an injury and doubted my return to racing, this time I am too driven and confident that I will come back stronger and better on and off the bike. This time off will give me more time to reflect on the good and bad so that things are right come Outdoors. Thanks to Doctor Reiman and staff for making sure this was addressed immediately so that I could get healthy and strong quicker and safer, and as always to my Family, Friends and you Fans!! I will be at A3 and San Diego so dont hesitate to come and say hello!! Thanks again!!

You'll be back sooner than you know it. Make sure you follow through on the PT to reduce the scar tissue. Good luck, who knows maybe the ATL.

Glad to hear its not as bad as was 1st expected. Not racing only makes you hungrier and more driven to succeed.

Awesome news Sean. Hope the recovery is more more on the 4 weeks rather than the 6 weeks. Cant wait to see ya tear it up OUTSIDE again.

That's great news! Every time I hear someone hurt their knees, I really empathize for them. Knee injuries are the worst.

Hey Dirt I have worn knee braces since I was 9. For the most part they are precaution and not a complete prevention. I have had surgery on both knees but without the knee braces I would have far worse injuries than what I have. With Houstons problem I never fell nor did my knee pop it was just a sudden impact that caused the bone fragments to get into my knee. Hope that helps man!!

Most knee braces don't really prevent much besides hyper extension. Because they are strapped to fleshy muscle, they don't prevent the the twisting motion that causes most blown ACL's. The knee's shock absorbers, the meniscus and femoral condyle, is often damaged by axial loads that aren't protected by knee braces either. I do wear a custom CTi2 on my left leg because I have a quarter sized piece of femoral condyle, the cartilage on the end of the femur, missing and my brace is custom designed to unload that portion of the knee. I wear an OTS Bledsoe brace on my good right knee as knee armor but I don't have any expectations of it preventing any injuries other than those caused by impacts.
