I really don't understand calling the series he won weak. Plessinger, Martin and Davalos are every bit as fast as the Amish kid, Craig and Osborne.

Who do I blame? Hmm, I can't point the finger at a single person. I blame the situation of a sport with limited rides available, with plenty of riders available, and plenty of riders willing to ride for too little money. Now, what causes that or what can fix that...I have no idea. All I know is it seems difficult to get everyone on the same page in regards to Moto. It's a weird sport, for sure.

Edit: yes, bears is a better answer haha!

Yep, absolutely. What I meant by that is there are probably more than 20 riders that people would say are "deserving" of rides. I'm not sure whether I agree or disagree, just pointing that out

Ken won more races last year than Mookie . plus ask the riders which is a bigger deal , finishing 2nd and wining loads of races in the 450 s or winning a very week coast in the 250 s . put Mookie in the west champ last year , he would have finished 4 th imo .
Not knocking Kenny...but his main competition was out, and nobody else except Tomac (in the last part of the season) was anywhere close to him. Mookie had more competition all season than Kenny ever had.

The one who is to blame is the one that convinced Mookie to sit out the Outdoors "to get ready for the 450's".

Kenny dominates outdoors when Dungey goes down, and Eli just wasn't dailed in until towards the end. No comp whatever and during indoors Kenny was getting his ass handed to him by Dung so let's not discredit Mookie's winning season. Especially when he battled the best the 250 class had to offer!

Not knocking Mookie but come on, Davalos missed a race due visa issues, Hill knocking himself out with a concussion, Martin blew two rounds in a row and Plessinger got really close but messed his starts up. How can you say that's higher competition than Roczen had?

Did you watch the outdoor races? Kenny was on fire from round 1. Dungey had nothing for him.
Kenny also won 2 of the last 3 SX races.

To blame? Is either party fully responsible for Mookie not having a factory ride, or is it mostly or reasonably partly circumstance?

On paper Kenny had the tougher comp, but if we're being honest. Kenny was a no show all last sx season for the few races he did win. And a few close battles he had with Dungey at the end of the season. It's not Mookie's fault riders went down, but what does that say about Roczen when he just couldn't get it done after getting owned by KTM machine in Dungey

If Roczen races 250 East last year do you think he beats Mookie?

If Mookie races outdoors does he beat Roczen?

Kenny and Mookie are in two completely different ballparks. The only evidence you need is the fact that Kenny can basically name his price with any manufacturer, gear company, and major industry sponsor. While Malcolm is buying his own equipment. That alone tells me his 2016 was more successful.

Of course it's not Mookies fault. To win a championship you have to be in it at all rounds... But competition that takes itself out doesn't qualify as tough competition anymore. It's the same argument as you give. It looks tough on paper but in reality it watered down.

What it says is that Dungey was able to keep up where Mookies comp couldn't.

100% true. Yeah he won them a title for Supercross and then left them out to dry for outdoors. Oh well. JMart is bringing the fire anyways...

Dungey has been riding the same bike for years. That was Roczen's second year on the bike. The dude found his setting and found a program that works for him. He won that last two races of SX and whooped Dungey from the get go outdoors. He will be on it this year. It would be shocking if he didn't take both titles this year. I'll even stamp it

I lost respect for Malcolm once he started whining and blaming other things than himself for him not having a ride. He can't even admit that he may or may not have made a mistake by sitting out this summer. Even if it is the industry dropping the ball for not signing him, he's not helping himself by acting the way he has or saying the things he has. He sounds like a conceded brat in most of his interviews. While Dean has almost guaranteed himself the next open spot by his actions and attitude towards his unemployment.

Hopefully everyone stays healthy but you can bet that Dean will be the factory team's first choice

There are several factors in this season . 1 As pointed out there are more young racers moving up than those retiring.
2 There are only so many quality rides available and they are looking at the whole overall picture Supercross & Outdoor National. 3 Not sure what Stewart thinks he is worth comparing to what was offered to him. 4 Baggett planed ahead and was able to secure a ride by planning ahead and taking what was offered to him so planning ahead is really important. In all fairness when you had a paying factory ride it is hard to go back and pay your own way to the races.

Back to the original question, everyone says that Geico Honda is not a 450 team, but they have had a 450 rider since 1998 with Mike Larocco/Windham/Metcalf/Hahn/Tomac/Bogle. So they folded up their 450 effort that Malcolm probably thought was an option.

It was about 100x easier to win the 2016 250 E SX title than the 2016 450 SX or 450 MX titles

The watered down 450 class could handle mookie . Did you look at the 450 SX last year . saying Kenny was no comp to Dungey at all is bullshit . he was every bit as fast all year ,bar his starts.

plus you sound like getting beat by Dungey is such a thing to be ashamed by .Dungey is a great rider ,he is leap s ahead of Mookie ,and he has MORE RAW SPEED than Mookie too . You are living in La La land

Yeah that's tough. I'm more on the disagree. The only way I think there should be more factory rides is if they put more riders on the gate. A football player who doesn't get drafted and doesn't make it into the nfl/practice squad doesn't get paid. So I guess why should a guy who doesn't make mains. Smaller sport = less chance to make money.

Bullshit , "It would be shocking if he didn't take both titles this year." are you seriously saying you would be shocked if Dungey won the championship .
