...when there are Showa hybrid forks that are spring-equipped, but which also have air caps on both sides so that pressure can be added for fine-tuning.

The bike here (which belongs to Josh Grant) runs springs, but can add air if he wants.

Adding air to a spring fork is great! Fine tuning your rate is awesome. It will be awesome when they have a BRAIN setup like they have on the Specialized Epic.

Yes, I remember putting air in to my 1980 IT 175 Forks and my 1982 PE 175 Forks.

I had shraeder valves in 1980 also. You could make them bounce like basketballs off jump.

All we used them for was to release the pressure. Then they cheaped out with upside down forks and a screw!

Hate to hijack thread, but I've been trying to locate those slotted air valve stem covers, with no luck. Any leads?

Considered getting plain ones, and creating "slots" with a dremel

I can foresee that next year's backward looking reviews/comments on the 2017 KTM/Husky bikes will note that the AER forks are garbage compared to these NEW AND VASTLY SUPERIOR DUAL TECHNOLOGY FORKS.

As ever, "everything old, is new again".

Now, if it is a set up with the steel spring being against an IFP ( as a spring landing) and the air / gas spring being on the other side of the IFP, that could be a very useful thing, indeed.

I was thinking the exact same thing - ran 5 psi in my '78 vintage bike last season to firm it up a little.What's old is new!

Air comes and goes....well it surely did in my 1969 ATI Silly Whistling with the Terry Kit Air Mod. Went backs to springs shortly after trying air....
