The 750k copies was just a number I threw out there, and I'm not completely sure they even get close to that amount. It's pretty hard to find accurate data for MX game sales. Sites like VGChartz have data, but it's not super reliable especially for smaller games.
MX Simulator is probably the easiest to track due to the UID system, and I believe there are around 25,000 UIDs at this point (so give or take 25,000 copies sold). But it's a game that has little-to-no paid advertising and is only for PC, so it's not that comparable to games that Milestone and Rainbow are making.
Also, MX Sim doesn't have much of a single player career mode. You can build a "career" in online racing, though.
But honestly if you are comparing it to what other sports game franchises have...season mode, career mode, full license, all the real teams and riders, and a pretty decent AI to play against in season or career mode...the only game to even come close to the likes of the Maddens, NBA2K, etc is MXGP 2.
Despite its shortcomings, if we had the equivalent of MXGP 2 for Lucas Oil Motocross or Monster Energy Supercross then I would be more than satisfied. Our sport is small but I'm still shocked no one has stepped up and made it. the last fully mx/sx licensed.game was back in 2001 from EA.

the tracks are still released, just delayed for free.. and that is only the rf team that charges for tracks, you can still download all the tracks that end up in 802 from http://tmfactory-racing.com/
i love their site

To answer the original op question, if i was millionaire i would not start a sx team.. i would build that game for the consoles but since im not a millionaire i stick with mx sim.. because as the market stands right now this is the closes we will ever get, to having what we want in a moto game.
I wish, risenberg or ron ron or somebody from the gaming community could explain why it is impossible to have a game like mxsim on consoles... or like a road to supercross.
it honestly cannot be that expensive because the sport is small.
EA has the money, but would probably fuck up the release in a major way or something lol.
Milestone wont get the licenses based on the strength they're euros
The only Beacon of hope i say from a developer would be Codemasters
I'm going to buy MXSim tonight. I've been holding out for no good reason.

$189.95 - $239.95
Skateboarding's popularity far outweighs moto's and everyone's dropped that as the years have passed, major sports and shooters / are where the $ is.... Sadly.
There is some really great tracks on Reflex-Central. This is a quick lap i recorded to show the Southwick 2016 national track to a friend.

Ive been a part of the community since 2008, in the alpha phase. My user ID is 8 haha. To see how far the game has come since then, is absolutely mind blowing.
To me this biggest draw, is that it has full customization ability. From the minute you purchase it, you have the ability to create fully custom tracks, bike models, bike graphics, rider graphics, rider models. Literally anything you want, provided you have the knowledge. And if not, you can go onto the forum and download, for free, a multitude off all of the things I just mentioned. If you want to ride the 2016 version of Glen Helen on a Ryan Dungey replica KTM 450, you can. It really is the most extensive Mx game on the market.
Why can't he make a reset button. Or how a about let me drive in a straight line without going all over.
Gah!
Still hit up the weekly jam along with 100,000s of others each and ever week.
Week normally spent trying to beat JT$, he normally gets me by a fraction of a second 9 times out of 10

People want realistic physics, scale and bikes/gear. They don't want to pick up the controller and look like a beginner. Playing a video game is fantasy. The user wants to experience what it is like to be Barcia, Rocen, Dungey etc. To launch off huge jumps and throw gnarly whips. They want to hit the biggest whoops pinned. A realistic career/season does add to the overall gameplay.
They can utilize the 6 axis gyroscopic control. I'm in the process of setting up my PS4 controller for MX vs ATV like this:
Just like every other simulation racing game a.k.a. realistic racing game you need to master it at first... just like in real life lmao.
If you say you want realistic but don't want to take the time and learn how to be good at it than you don't want realistic, you want arcade.
Anyway. MX simulator is simulator, it's focused only on physics, graphics suck, sound sucks, vanilla version is nearly unplayable. Even with good gfx it's still too hard. It's easier to ride in real life, really.
I don't think we will ever see real mx game. But I can recommend MTX mototrax, I think thats the most enjoyable title, you have career, fmx, freeride (similar to tony hawk pro skater) and riding really feels fun.
I wasn't trying newer versions of MX vs. ATV but I bet it's still based on Motocross Madness 2 wild unrealistic physics.
sx series mimics identical to real life, same tracks, same day each week a few days after the real race. timed qualifying, top 40 make it in, top 9 out of each heat race, 4 out of the lcq. and 15 lap main for 250fs. heats, semis, lcq for 450 and 20 lap main....outdoors, same as real life. and competition level in pro, insane
