Why is this a thread? Suck it up, the racing is tomorrow. All your points were proved wrong already today.

Didn't 2 of the holeshots come from the "bad gate pick" area?

Start reminds me of the old Loretta Lynn's start. Just have to have the ballz to hold it on and swoop the outside.

Could be a few reasons(bent bikes from crashing etc) but neither Cooper, Jason or Alex had the greatest(top 3) lap times in their races. It will be incredible if they win, great if they podium. As for starts, Herlings and AC222, both got good starts from shit gate picks, but both of them always get great starts. Also the bikes they are riding are not exactly peices of crap.

They may or not podium. For sure there was some choking today though. Did the pressure get to the guys? Will it be any less tomorrow? Unlikely.

Let me refill that glass full that is clearly half empty....

All the USA riders are equally more than capable of doing good/ coming through the pack, seems like some are forgetting Webbs total demolition job through the pack when he beat Harlings.
Even if he does get a bad start (which hasn't happened yet) then he and both the other US riders are more than expert enough to get up the front end.
A Mart many times this year has been pretty impressive at coming through the pack from bad starts.

Bad luck maybe today but nothing that cannot be turned around. Hoping Anderson's foot is not an issue but that is maybe the only real issue I can see.

Its like saying Herlings had NO chance today in race 3 because he had 32nd gate pick... So he smokes the field and the holeshot !! The bad gatepick didn't mean that much to him did it? Don't see why it should mean that much to Coop either (or the other US boys)- its called overtaking if you do get a bad start!

Stupid people don't explain WHY the reasoning is wrong . Tomorrow wil vindicate that poor starts will not allow any team to move from the back to a top position. When you have riders starting 35th on this track that are not the best starters a podium will probably be the best they can hope for. I will be vindicated tomorrow or I will apologize , but I doubt the rest of you will if your proven wrong. We shall see

Is this a fishing thread? Its gotta be a fishing thread. gr8 b8 m8.

I'll bite though.

Coop and Ando are some of the most aggressive passers in the sport right now. you really think they won't be able to come through the pack if they don't get good starts? AMart is no slouch passing people either.

If you seriously think a bad gate pick is going to be the deciding factor in keeping these guys off the podium I'd like an ounce of whatever you're on.

^^ Yup.
They are all more than capable of knowing how to overtake and come through a pack. Probably 3 of the best at it.

Today's adversity could be the key ingredient for tomorrow's compelling story...hopefully. Wink

AMart is on his 3rd MXDN in Europe, it's all well and good suggesting Forkner because he was great in his home USGP's but other more established riders have struggled or looked ordinary

Who knows how he'd do but having said that AMart could make a start and be fine, tomorrow's another day,the USA still have 3 solid guys too, which most other teams simply don't have

First of all look at the gate picks.....15 and 30. This on a track that rewards starts above all else. This is not a track that provides a lot of passing options. It's not rough, it's one short straight away after another.....into one lined turns after another. If you have open track you can make good time but if your behind multiple riders its going to to take a lot of time to find areas to pass. The only place I say passing options was that uphill jump into the turn. I don't believe any rider that doesn't start in the top 5 has a chance at winning. There were quite a few marginal riders that stayed in the top 10 just because the had a good start. Logic says that this track and these start positions will lead to maybe a top 5. I must say that having a MXDN on a track with limiting passing options is not in the interest of the fans...unless your team gets great starts.
I thought herlings got the whole shot from 32?

There are passing spots, Jeremy Van Horebeek proved that. But you need to take several laps to set it up.

In Germany during the war, they used to shoot people like the OP for defeatism.

Amart seemed to have a few spots he liked to make passes today. He's good in the rollers and that inside line on that uphill step up to left hand turn deal. He was clearly faster than most of the riders in front of him today. Just needs to limit a few mistakes I think he'll be ok. Coop has also mentioned on that video series he doesn't usually try or care much for qualifying or practice. His unwillingness to lose should show up tomorrow. When the real races come there should be a different story than today.

The way Coop ran into the back of that dude wasn't like him, normally he would ride around that sort of thing. That tells me it was nerves. Hopefully we get control of our nerves tomorrow and ride like we know how to.

A bit harder though as the generally slower half of the open field will be replaced by the faster half of the MX1 and MX2 fields.

Timing shows Anderson gained 11 places,TV showed maybe more, it could be possible again over a longer Moto

An outside start is still possible on a 450 though

USA still has 3 of the best riders for each class. Broken toes for Anderson dont have to be a big problem. Starts are possible but a bit harder, but nothing that shouldnt wannart a start with the top 10-15. Which should be good for top 5 finishes if that happens. For all we know, 5 top 5 finishes can be good for the top step of the podium. Anything can happen. Good luck to the Americans!
