I knew he'd get bored, heck, he's not even 30 yet, I don't think. If he wanted a race situation with no pressure, he could've raced his 2-stroke in the Sleepy Hollow race Tongue He still looks smooth out there.

How do y'all think Villopoto would do in AMA sx. I'm guessing a consistent top 10 for the first year. If he committed full time to training he could probably be a title contender again the second year back. I miss watching him.

I'd say top 5. Tomac, Dungey, and Roczen will be hard to beat. But Poto is fast and determined, he wouldnt finish far off the podium. Out of shape or not.

I was never a big RV fan but I'm glad his doing it. Can't deny he is flawless on a motorcycle. I really like the idea of retired pros showing up to some SX races. Awesome would be a good word for that.....

He led the last 80 laps and won the last four SX events he raced in '14. Kind of hard to stamp your SX career any better than that. Lot of people miss seeing him race. He had pretty long career to be training and racing in full tilt mode. Sure earned his retirement. My fav race I saw him in live was the first Monster cup when he won the million.
It was bitchin.

Someone at our local track signed themselves in as Ryan Villipoto on Wednesday night's practice.
There WAS some dudes there that had something like "the aussies" or some shit on the side of their van/tent.
Maybe he was there incognito? I dunno, they were pitted far away from us and I didn't go over there to snoop.

Just figured it was someone trolling, which is most likely.

Agree. Tomac, Dungey, Roczen are hard to beat.

If only there was somebody out there, perhaps one focused upon in this very discussion, who had experience beating all three of those guys pretty handily.

We heard this his entire GP season. A retired rider has a different mindset.

Am I the only one who thought he looked pretty rusty going over that 3-5-3 at 2:13?

Pretty sure he only did 3. He OJ'd it and they cut to a different scene. Of course hes rusty he probably hasn't ridden Supercross since before the GP's. Video left a lot to be desired, felt more like a Kawasaki KX450 promo video.

If Villopoto can make a comeback like Trey Canard does I think with a solid off season he could come back with podium speed. He hasn't been gone that long at this point. He has absolutely no reason to do it though.

He does look rusty which is fair enough. On the other hand the bike sounds good. Couldn't say that about his MXGP bike. Never sounded good to me.

You could be onto something. Not sure how it exactly works but couldn't the promoter make a payment to show up to certain events ,it might draw bigger crowds to those races and allow guys towards retirement a way to do some racing and not get burned out by the grind.
For RV, I dont see happening: not much (?) too gain, for sure he could still win if fully prepared, otherwise how would look at 10th place for him ?

Otherwise your idea regarding the retirement tour is really cool. We have the "rookie" presentation, where the new riders are in term of results, it could be great to have a similar presentation of the 2 or 3 riders that are in their last seasons, to help the public cheering for them.

Isn't the Aus-x open an arenacross sized track? If so, I'm not expecting much excitement as far as racing goes.

Id love to see a comeback. Other than the willing to want to, he really has nothing to gain. He has left a multi millionaire and healthy. but let's hope he just has that hunger again.

Wait if RV starts racing select races like this one, Monster Cup, ect, and after sponsor bonuses and winning, he becomes the highest paying rider yet again? Laughing Silly

I think you guys forgot how fast RV was when he returned to racing after injury , time off the bike and rehab .

He's had a nice break from racing , healthy and having fun riding .

I'd like to see him ride the Nationals in 2017 .

Some have a short memory, RV2 was smoking everybody when he retired, Dungey was not in the same class.

Will be interesting to see if Villopodium does any more races next year

Wasn't too shabby IMO
