Thought:No one was happy to see Stewart's "return" this year...maybe Reed is saving face and backing out before he digs to big a hole to climb out of...if he isn't at monster cup then we all should bring the pitchforks and torches but until then let's give the guy a break, this is better than half hearted riding through the day IMO.

Not surprised either. What exactly makes it a shit show? The bad weather? I guess the real truth is the guy never planned to race it and didn't bother getting in shape.

Not surprised but pretty crappy move for the fans that wanted to see him. So does he still get paid? Could see if he was injured, but because he decided he didn't want to prepare for it??

Reed said on PulpMX weeks (months?) back that he planned to be "injured" for this race. Not a surprise...
He even confirmed it on last week show. (that he was going to be there, not racing.)

edit: clarification

He was never going to do these USGPs and if you thought he was, well then you havent been listening hard enough.

It's a shame the other Monster athletes dont have the balls to tell them to "pound sand these races dont mean shit to me and not what you employed me for" If the others followed suit then maybe these extra stupid races will go away and the guys/teams get the r and r they truly deserve.

I respect him and what he's done but he's really turning into a twat. My opinion is that he thinks he's McGrath level and can do whatever/whenever he wants. I'm pretty positive though this was all a stunt to get people to buy tickets though.

So Monster makes Eli race which forces him to pull out of the mxdn but Reed can skip no big deal....

Everybody has their own idea about how to create a legacy for themselves. I don't necessarily agree with his but I highly doubt he gives a rat's behind.

SX they do but not outdoors IMO. Any bets that if James races next year it will be SX only?

At this point Stewart would have a helluva time finishing a season of MXGP on PlayStation without some sort of excuse.

He was actually pretty clear about it for a long time I thought?!

Love Reedy but the guy is still a factory rider!
Gotta agree on this one

I am both a Stewart and reed fan but why do we put up with chads shit and not James? If I had to pick one of the two that could still put in results if properly trained I would go with James hands down. Yet Chad is pulling a supercross only ride, the same thing everyone bitched about James for having. Personally I am happy for Chad but I don't get what exactly separates the two at this point. But yet we want to put that pussy on a pedistool just because he speaks his mind and tells it how it is. I appreciate it but come on already.

He could have rode for 2 laps and pulled off with blisters. Good for Chad to call it before he embarrassed himself. I like the guy more and more the older he gets.

I never expected Reed to make it to either of the USGP races. While it would have been great to see him there I have low expectations of this guy at this point of his career. Actually, I'm quite jaded of these GP races and the desire for any of our US racers any longer or Reed and his "social" character he has taken on. From a legacy perspective I think these guys are wasting an opportunity for way out in the future when their professional racing careers are over.

"if properly trained"...um, well, that's why.

What exactly separates the two? A win and two podiums in 2015 and two podiums in 2016. That's the biggest difference. James had zero in 2015 and struggled to collect 25 points this year to keep his number. Plus he showed up fat.

That's why I'd put up with Chad's shit but not James', personally.

Yep, it was just a couple weeks ago that when asked there was a long pause and then he unconvincingly said "yes" that he was racing, but it was clear he wasn't. Good for him, I'm glad he's looking at the big picture.

I have no problem with Chad not racing, just wish it would have officially been announced sooner for the sake of anyone going to the event to see him race.

So he basically said he did not put in the work that he was being paid to do ( which is race a fucking dirt bike) and knew he would get smoked, so he didn't want to race. And a ton of people are saying Js7 should retire for saying the same thing,. Question, starting in 2014. Compare the amount of reeds starts, then count Stewart's, and then tell me who win more races. But Reed deserves the ride and Stewart should retire right?
