Honda has been working on something big. This could be it.

Read in France from the main and most reliable source that the offer was gigantic, check the last lines, "9 millions euros for this 3 years contract (2018, 2019 and 2020)". At the current $ € rate, that is about $10M.

Add quite a few personal sponsors to double that, and double that with race/championship bonuses, that is quite comfy in only 3 years !

I've seen reports that say he is going to Honda, there is also a Dutch media page that is reporting that he is going to the US. Either way, I'm super excited to see what happens. I think Honda is the more realistic option. Although I don't think that would be considered a huge life decision.

Maybe he's going to Honda, in America

Herlings is probably the most paid MXer right now.

I would love to see him in America...

But sentimental part of me would love to see him stay on Honda in MXGP...just because I think it would be cool to see the mighty Honda team return to its former glory (of the 80's and 90's) and dominate.... even better if its on both sides of the pond...

A lot of doubling going on here. At that rate he will make more in 3 years then RC made in his whole career.
I have a hard time believing Heirlings is even close to Roczen/Dungey level. It's no secret the MXGP top guys don't come close to AMA. I believe PulpMx covered this in a show.

You know he gets paid by the manufacturer of motorcycles called KTM? And it's important to them to have a championship winning guy on their bikes?

Now the biggest factory in the world comes and wants him on THEIR bikes. They have the resources....

I saw on his twitter page that he is going to pursue Supermini championships once he heals up. I wouldn't call it a big career decision though since it follows his pattern. Will be interesting.

Right now Herlings is by far the most paid 250 rider in the world. He makes more than the majority of 450 riders worldwide as well.

Right now in the 450 class only two KTM riders, one in Europe and one in the US, and one Suzuki's (in the US) are paid more than him.

That number is not accurate. The offer he got is bigger than that.
