Congrats kongols, and happy birthday to you in a few months. This is what all the Nico's need to see at times, because it can be done. We're all on your side Nico ! and stay on the right track dayumit (mx).

Id be happy to do a Q&A with everyone. Lemme know what questions you have...thanks for all the positive vibes on here.

YES! - You can literally see the clarity in his eyes. Been pullin' for Mr. Izzi to find his way out of the darkness. Looks like he's got the support he needs to have a real chance at making this happen. Very happy for Nico and his loved ones. This CAN be done, I've seen it with my own eyes, up close and personal. It's a life-long battle, but it can be won, and victory is sweeter than any podium perch. In it to win it Mr. Izzi!!

Congrats on your sobriety/recovery. Non-addicts have no idea what its like to have to wake up and get their fix just to feel normal and start the day. Honestly, I can say that recovering addicts/alkies are some of the best people I know (due to new lifestyle) and want to say thank you for stepping in and shoot'n it straight. A few simple questions, what's it like working with Nico ? and how did you two meet ? Anyway, glad you chimed in, who knows, you and Nico might save somebody's tail before its too late. This is real life and thanks again.

Good luck Nico watched you from peewees on up ! I do worry though that another injury could restart the problem.

Having seen a couple friends kids go through this I know it's not an easy road. You've got a great group of people supporting you, lots of fans sending out positive thoughts for you, and a kid that needs you to be all that you can be, Stay strong and focused !! If I could some how magically send some of my strength to help get you through the harder days I would. Hang tough. You got this !

growing up in the northeast, i have lost many friends do to pills and subsequently heroine. and to be honest, looking back on it, i realize that i myself was on a slippery slope about 8-10 years ago. You need to stay strong and think about your why.. Nico, your "why" may be motocross and your kiddo. Why do you stay sober, why do you power through the bullshittery at work, why do you pound laps? probably because you love the dream, and you love your kid. whenever you think of your "why" think of those too things. moto for your kiddo. you can do it.

I remember watching you at steel city in 05 for a LL qualifier. I was 15 and in awe of the speed you had. i was lined up on the gate with you that day.... the practice was muddy as hell. i fell, got stuck and as i was fucking around with the clay in my tire i watched you clear those big ass table tops... unbelievable. thats the point where i realized i was outclassed,

Nico has good people around him. He has been riding w/ Justin Cooper (#19 in the video) for the past few months who is as straight as an arrow. He won 2 LL titles(winning all 6 motos) last summer & is 100% focused on moto & nothing else. It's probably refreshing for Nico to have a young kid around him that has no distractions.

Thanks dude! I appreciate that. Working with any true addict is challenging, exciting, frustrating, and rewarding. Addicts become master manipulators through active addiction, and all the character defects like lying, cheating, stealing, and being disrespectful are still present even when the drink or the drug is taken away. Some addicts try to change right away, and some takes years of recovery work and counseling to change those defects. If the addict would just simply get COMPLETELY honest, recovery gets so much simpler. But being honest isn't something we practiced while using, and we were extremely selfish! Recovery doesn't just happen when you stop using it takes serious time, and a lot of work with the right support. But man, once you start the work life becomes sooooo much better. I met Nico in February of this year, through my buddy Eric from Pr2...Eric told me he wanted to start riding again and that he needed graphics for his bike. My wife and I have MGX Unlimited Graphics, so I have been working in the industry for a few years. I had been laying the ground work for this program for about 5 years now and was just starting to reach out to people for some help and he got placed in my path at the perfect time...Gods pretty amazing...So we hit the road together in March and started the journey.
Hope that was helpful!

I'll be honest, this video was the first I've heard about SRR and I have to say I think it's a brilliant idea that a lot of people could benefit from. Keep up the good work man!

What direction are you planning on taking SRR? Will we see any SRR-branded bikes lining up on the starting gate? It would be awesome to see some guys on the line with your logo, I think it would be a huge hit with the fans, which in turn could help these guys stay on track (pun intended)

Tailsohard thanks man! Yes, the plan is to go to High Point with Nico for the SRR debut. As long as he is in a good spot and following the program we will be there with him. But, recovery comes first...SRR isn't there to worry about finishes, our goal is to get to the races with our guys to let everyone know our mission, and educate the industry on addiction recovery...and we wanna have a hell of a lot of fun!! Thanks!

Good luck this summer Nico! That's awesome. I used to hate him growing up racing in the same class as him because he was so fast haha. Now, I have to pull for him. Cool story.

Nico,
Please come forward and tell the whole story. It would be interesting and informative to have you discuss in your own words what and how you ended up in this situation. What is has cost you interms of life as you knew it and the reality of it. It is easy for everyone to say that injury and pain meds led you down this road, but is it actually the case? What happened and what caused this to happen could be used as a blueprint for parents of our future stars.

I am SO glad to hear somebody who is free of the bondage of addiction use the word "recovered" instead of always referring to themselves as a "recovering" addict. If there is never a hope of recovering a life free of the substance use & addictive behavior that comes with it...and the person will forever be fearful of relapse, then what kind of life is that. A lot of people disagree with me...and I'm cool with that. I'm thankful I'm a "recoverd" addict & alcoholic too.

Thanks for your help, man. There are lots of guys in our sport, and beyond that need your "ministry".

Good to see Nico and Austin trying to get their shit together and seeing a bigger picture. There is a really good article in the new RacerX with Austin going in depth about how bad his addiction had gotten and what he is trying to do now to get clean.

This is the feel good thread of the year here I think. It's amazing what some people can do if the right person comes along with the right guidance. Congrats to Nico becoming clean. And congrats to Kevin for helping to get him there , along with being clean as well.

And one more....congrats to Andris too. 12yrs is freakin' awesome.

Perhaps a little too early in Nico's recovery to put those two together. Fire and gasoline.
I wish those two the best.

I'm not addiction specialist, I don't know if the rumor is true and if it is, I have no idea why he might have been asked to leave. Maybe it isn't drug related. Based on the above stated facts, I can only say that I hope he stays on the right path. His daughter deserves a Daddy.
