Yep, that would make sense, because he was already on a Yamaha when he wore it in 2002...

Gotta be 103 if 22 and 41 are gone.

22 is pretty obvious, but what's the significance of 41?

Andrew used many different numbers in his GP-career:

2001: #29
2002: #88 (not sure about this one)
2003: #20
2004: #15
2005: #7
I'm pretty sure the #88 was when he and Byrner were wildcards at the Aussie round on 500's
They came out 1-2 off the start and the crowd lost it (I wasn't there but saw it on a video)

I remember whenever an international would come over here and race they would run a letter, I always thought it was so rad

From memory he ran 83 or something around there in his first GP in 2000 on a Yamaha yz426.
Maybe he could finish with that number..

Still the best race I've personally attended. MacFarlane on a KX500, which was a full custom job - KX500 motor in a current KX250 frame. From memory I think Byrner was on a CR500 that was pretty much stock except for an Ohlins shock and a pipe. I think Reedy was running #85 but could be wrong.

I was going to suggest that, for exactly the same reasons. That letter designation was quite the 'thing' during my youth in the 60s and 70s, with the regular Brit and Euro influx, especially when Rahier came over. I can't recall what Decoster and Robert used in their visits in either 72 or 73.

It's (was) a bit of an Australian tradition for visiting riders. Luongo is all about 'promotion', so I think He and Reed will be able to work things out well.

Not sure how he'll go, diving in among the sharks of MXGP. Hope he enjoys it, and, can see his way to doing the 2 USGPs. as well. I wonder if he'll make himself available for the MXDN / be considered for selection - you'd think he may want to, given the 'hype' attached to a Maggiora MXDN.

Was it Eddie Warren who used to run the "E"? And I think I recall Phil Lawrence coming over in the nineties and running "P" or maybe "L"?

Aah well Jimmy Ellis was the first E I remember and I think Eddie Warren was W but I can half remember him running an E as well.. I also remember seeing some Aussies running letters in the Manjimup 5000 (I think) way back in the day

Shit's cool

I was going to say #1, as it doesn't mean anything in the GP's anyway. Go for it. I wonder if it's even on the list.
