Everyone at his level knows what they are signing up for. If he can't afford it then he has a choice to make for himself. 1 he can get a regular job like 99.999% of us on this forum who bleed moto but realized it just wasn't in the cards for us. 2 he can scrounge around for whatever he can to live his dream as a pro motocross racer. It's his choice to make. Would he fund me to live my dream job? Idk. We know the success rate of this sport. I'm gonna guess he does to. And in all sincerity I hope he has a great recovery and is 100% healthy afterwards. I may not fund a moto guy for trying to make a career in it. However I'd never want anything bad to come for a moto guy either.
Would he fund me to live my dream job? Idk.

Hmmm, good point. Makes ya think... This kid has been hurt every season. I don't think he's finished one, not even a half. I think he's just to little & fragile to race dirtbikes. How many years has he been pro now? 4-5? If he has any real friends or family that cares around him they should be telling him maybe he needs to think about college & a real career before he permently injures himself to the point to where he can't walk, drive, work etc.

I was a really fast pro but not fast enough to make it. So for my 19th birthday I got an empty envelope from my dad that said " put visa card in here "... So I did and went to work like a man and made something of myself. What the fuck is wrong with that program?

Sounds a little harsh but that's how it is.

damn..i dont and have never raced, but as a fan of this sport since 1989, it sickens me to think that this kid is being ripped apart by a bunch of damn fools after getting ripped apart trying to entertain us all...trying to do something we all love and admire and you judge him and rip him apart. fools!

I'm wondering if this is the mindset of the majority of the Millennial generation kids---not too proud beg. We've created a generation of kids who look at the world as a giant pyramid scheme to take advantage of when needed. I remember so many riders being hurt in the 80's and 90's and never making the kind of money these kids made and QUITTING. No one gave a damn if the dream was over--time to work like the other 120 billion people.

Every generation as they get older feel this way about the next generation. Your life was always harder than the kids.

It only means you're now...old.

Money on the way for Zach... He will not be the first rider we have helped, and he will not be the last. Honestly I just look at it as helping a fellow rider out... like changing a tire on his bike, doing a top end, hell just cleaning the mud off his bike between motos. Was always happy to do it and thought nothing of it.
Good Luck to Zach, keep your chin up, heal up and get after it!!!
Pay every one back with huge holeshots and DO NOT let off till after the checkered flag!
Ok I am going to go get into the stadium now.
Props to you man. You said it, helping a fellow rider out, at the end of the day that's what's most important.

No it doesn't.. Medical cost and insurances are solely on the rider neither AMA, FIM, or sponsors even main sponsors such as geico or monster cover medical bills.. This is all predetermined in contract negotiations/ signings

I'm a Zach Bell fan, wish him nothing but success.

That being said, there's no way I would donate to something like this unless he has truly exhausted his resources and is in dire straits. I'm talking liquidating every asset and moved back in with the parents penniless dire straits.

Anything short of this and I believe it is very inappropriate to be asking strangers for donations. Even then I can think of countless charities who are more deserving of my donation.

I don't know Zach's situation, regardless, but I'd be really pissed if I donated $100 only to find out that he's making payments on a new truck or something.

I'm starting a gofundme.. Business has been down this past year or so but I'm still wanting to go ahead with my plan of getting a new truck, trailer and bike. I'm selling all my old stuff but I'm still about 45k short. Donations will help

Over 1000 dollars for meds per week? What the actual f*ck? We have it nice here in Scandinavia when it comes to our welfare. And i will be thankful for that all my life.

The thing is, Bell seems like a really nice dude but it's still weird how a ex Geico Honda and Rockstar Husqvarna rider needs to ask financial help from strangers.

Oh well, i hope he can overcome the injury and get on the bike, the talent is there.

It's funny cuz guys think a very short Geico ride = money enough to save. Those guys make 50g a year tops at first. That is one trip to the Dr. No way he had money saved in such a short time, besides that how many years has it already been since the Geico ride? People love to knock someone asking for help. Kick them since they are down right? The sport does little/ nothing to protect these guys from the cost of injury. And it's a joke. An AMA pro card should come with insurance for during the events . Whatever the cost so be it.
50k a year? Sorry but unless things have totally changed that's just crazy.

Think ac92 signed at 5 year deal with pc for 250k total? Forkner?

I get it that bell isn't those guys but he had a pretty good amateur career. No way he signed for that little money. If he did his agent is terrible.

Maybe the parents that think home schooling their kids from the age of 12, and living at MTF, or similar was such a good idea now that the little star didnt make it. How about how stupid it is that the teams give 15 and 16 year old kids contracts with out completing school? It should be illegal. No other major sport recruits children (under 18), like ours does. I love moto, but its very unhealthy at the uppermost level. two cents.

If you can afford a mx camp,/school, training facility you can afford to pay medical bills.

I knew I was doing it wrong when myself or my friends never started a gofundme after I got hurt. I mean being hurt that bad and four surgeries had to be worth something for charity.

Would have been way easier than making sure we did things to make ends meet and making sure we were in a good position before taking risks.

The entitlement generation continues to grow.

Should never have had the visa card after your 18th birthday.

Yea what's up with that? My Pa never gave me a visa card. I had a job since I was 7yrs. old. Use to walk to school in 4 feet of snow everyday too. Uphill both ways.

You do know that baseball gives millions of dollars to international prospects at the age of 16?
