Too many casual fans go to the Atlanta round. People who are there to party and don't give a crap about the race.

The show is stale. Period.

Lurch screaming at the top of his lungs is beyond annoying. Why? Who thinks this brings anything to the show?

Inconvenience: It took an hour to get out of the parking deck this year.

Cost.

The racing just hasn't been good this season.

Cause me to attend:
I've only missed one Atlanta SX since 1977.

I've been going with my son since he was 6. He's 18 now.

The smells, the excitement as you walk in and hear the bikes echoing off of the stadium walls the first time.

Catching subtle things throughout the night that you don't see on the TV broadcast.

Beyond annoying.
I have no idea why.
I've yet to meet or talk to anyone that finds Lurch screaming at the start adds ANYTHING.

PLEASE for the love of God Feld please stop Lurch from continuing this. Shoot I will even trade timed mains for ending Lurch's screaming.

Fuck you guys in California. "I can go to 4 races within an hour of me but traffic sucks so fuck it, I'll stay home." Get SX out of Cali then.

There are 16 other rounds I can watch on TV. If I could at least see the bikes and rutted track up close once a year without having to drive 24 hours, I'd be so stoked. You fuckers are spoiled shitless and are oblivious at how lame you sound.

Though it won't happen this year, I try to make it to at least one SX a year. Vegas is usually the go to since it's around my birthday. I'm going to try and make A1 next year. The eye candy, the smells, the atmosphere... it's a perfect moto fix.

I do think SoCal is over saturated with races though. One race a year is perfect, having 4 in my backyard would be overkill in my opinion. Spread the wealth Feld.

I LOVE going to live events, the energy at live events, SX included just make it so much fun. Plus I can watch what I want to watch when it comes to the action on the track, I am not at the mercy at a production director that keeps a camera on some riders while another battle is happening.

That said, the closest SX I have to me is New York (Jersey in actuality) and I went to the first one 2 years ago, it was great.

I guess they realized with the number of people that went, they should raise the ticket prices, and they did...alot. Priced me out of it as I take the whole family when we can go.
yup, they really ratcheted up prices....

by the time i bought most seats where i wanted to sit this year were locked up.

got 200 level midfield seats for 150/ticket.

fml.

it's a christmas gift for my mother, but it's not even justifiable to spend that much.

it won't happen again.

Having watched at least one Supercross in person for 20 years straight, I've definitely migrated to the live televised broadcasts and I'm glad we have the option! After a few years away, I flew out for Anaheim 2 this season and it totally blew my mind. The televised event simply doesn't convey what these guys are doing. I was honestly frightened for the riders -- it was an amazing track that night and the skill involved, the speed, the aggression, all of that was way more intense from the stands. I hadn't expected that.

Only sx I enjoy going to is Daytona, I hate being stuck in a seat the whole night. Plus it's the only one that isn't a monster promo show.

Like someone else said, lurch. I can not stand listening to that shit all night, so annoying.

If you haven't attended one, you have to.. But the thing I hate most is all the casual fans showing up just for the night show. The REAL fans get there early and watch practice.

I remember a time at San Francisco sx my buddy parked in the parking lot and we parked outside the stadium. (We both lived in sacramento) he was just getting on the bay bridge when we were ALREADY HOME

If i lived within an hour of the race id see all of them. Its the best sport, and its better live. All of the details are nonsense. I live an hour from detroit an we lost that for awhile so the hour is nothing. Crazy talk.

Drove 3 hours to the jersey race last year. First sx I went to since 1980s. Had a good and basically free time courtesy of dealer friends. Foxboro back on the schedule this year and only an hour away but I'm passing. Will probably go every couple years.

The "casual fans" that I'm referring to are there to do nothing more than drink. They get up, make a beer/cocktail run, come back, get back up, make another beer/cocktail run, come back, get up and piss, come back, make another beer/cocktail run, etc, etc. All the while, totally oblivious to the fact there's a race going on.

How does it effect me? Because I have to stand up every time one of those asshats want to come down the aisle. And it is frequent. It's the reason I'll NEVER sit in lower level seating again. Club level isn't quite as bad, but the tickets are double what they are for lower level. Also, let me qualify something: I drink. This isn't an indictment on drinking, it's an indictment on being a inconsiderate tool.

Several years ago, I had the ability to go to pretty much every event in the series for practically nothing out of hand...and only missed one or two a year during a 4-year period. That was the coolest thing ever, and I got to see a lot of things and meet a lot of people. My life has changed a lot since then, and that ability is no longer there for me to attend any races each year but for the St. Louis and maybe one of the two Texas events, and the Texas one only because that is where my family is. But, when I go to those two events...I still love it, and there is nothing like being at the races for me. Sitting at home in front of the TV is ok, but it will never match the sounds, smell, people and excitement that a live race brings to the table.

I'd take going to the race over watching it on TV any day.

A1 every year----everything else on the couch for the exact reasons Bob lists.
But, I'm damn sure looking forward to attending the GP at GH.

Reason I attend is because it's the best live sporting event in the planet.

The people get shitfaced argument is in every sport especially with college football. Reason most even attend is to tailgate and socialize.

Prices ti attend live events do keep going up and makes it annoying but I love attending sports and just deal with it.

Matthes did mention in last week observations about ticket prices going up this year and for Feld to bump them up that high they are going to have to find a way to get the stars on the track for more than just 15-25 in a night show.

Retro night should truly be retro. Retro ticket prices, retro beer prices, tape delayed tv coverage (for 3 months). They'd sell that place out!

You never see all the stuff that's happening on TV. They typically cover the top 3-5 positions and you miss a lot of good, if not the best racing.
