This week's guest in the Vital MX forum QNA is Justin Barcia. Among his accomplishments are four amateur titles at Loretta's, two 250SX East championships, a Monster Energy Cup win, and several Supercross wins in Italy and France. He's also been a member of Team USA at the MXoN. While he's on the mend from a thumb surgery (but slated to start riding soon), it seemed like a good time to check in with the Autotrader/Monster Energy/Yamaha rider.

Bring your best questions, and he'll be peeking in here this week to answer them. As always, keep it respectful, and ask questions that you would like in a face-to-face meeting.

Did you have to change your riding style from the 250 to the 450. You were known for over-revving the 250, so was it hard to get used to the bigger bike?

Good luck on your recovery!

You have done a few MXdNs for USA(and done really well) so you know how it is to race races outside the US. What do you think about the des Nations and would you race the whole MXGP series someday if you would get the opportunity?

Justin, I think I can speak for most everyone when I tell you how proud of your ride at MXON I was. What an effort!

Aside from getting injured, you seem more at peace with things. Am I perceiving that correctly?

Also gotta know...just how hard does that #51 450 hit? Thanks for coming by!

Justin,

When you had Dungy behind you at Redbud last year were you pacing him or riding flat out?

Hey Justin,

I think I speak for everyone when I am how the eff do you get that bike so sideways, upside down, and backwards?!?! I guess that's more of a compliment than a question but anyways love your style and look forward to seeing that blue fender out front soon!

Justin, thanks for coming on to answer questions! I'm a big fan and love your riding style.

I had 2 questions-the first is that you have always worn a neck brace at the highest level of racing and I was wondering your thoughts on that issue.

The 2nd question is that I know you are a pilot and I was wondering what plane you are currently flying and if you ever fly yourself to the races? Do you have an ultimate goal for a particular license like instrument or twin engine?

Thanks!

Hey Justin, just wanted to say you've been my favorite rider sense your pro debut. I have to ask which bike sense turning pro did you enjoy riding the most? Definitely feel like it'd be your rookie 250 bike!

Big fan, you have the gnarliest technique on a bike, do you ever feel like you are straight muscling the bike around or is it always just technique/manipulation on the lip to swing her out sideways?

Who do we have to kill to get a new "Barcia ripping on a 125" video?

Hi Justin, has anyone ever told you that with your riding style you would have fit in great in the early 90's? By that I mean your aggressive nature.

Don't change a thing, you are great to watch race and bring the entertainment. Best of luck as soon as you come back!

Hi Justin,

Being at Redbud last year and seeing you battle with and best Dungey was so sick!

What were you feeling that day and how did it translate, if at all, to the next race at Millville?

Hey Justin, I have enjoyed watching you ride.

Some people on this board have compared Jason Anderson's aggressive riding this year in Supercross to you in your early days. Can you talk a bit about that, and what it's like to try and find the line between aggression and respect with your competitors? Also, how does that differ if at all between the 250 and 450 classes?

Thanks!

You seem like you are a rider that Ken get in other riders heads. Any good trash talking stories?

Would have loved to watch you race back in the RC, Reed and Stewart 2 stroke days. Who wins in a all 250 two stroke outdoor race now?

Heal up quick supercross misses your all out style! Bring a road bike and dirty bike out to South Utah we have some dang cool rides around here.

Justin, with your success with Honda throughout your career what has been the biggest change for you switching over to Yamaha?

hey justin, thanks for taking the time to answer our questions.

i follow you on strava and seen you went to see tom d and trained at his camp. i kind of read in between lines that he might is coaching you on the bicycle now and just like to know how you guys got introduced and how long till we see you line up at tour de france. haha.

you definitely picked up a new level on the bicycle and i hope it will benefit you greatly on the dirt bike. good luck to you and your team! you guys seem to really work well together!

Hi Justin, thanks for agreeing to do this QNA.

What (in your opinion) are the biggest changes you would like to see in SX and MX?

Hey Justin, do you listen to music before heading out to the gate, and if so, which one song gets your adrenaline pumping just before the race? Looking forward to seeing you back out on track, take care man.

Let's talk about you Alpinestars gear deal, we have seen you running a few one of a kind gears.
Does Alpinestars decide what you wear or can you decide what gear you would want to wear? What's the story behind the camo gear? I thought it looked great. Espacially with your Shoei helmet.

I second the need for a 125 video, and of course all of us would drool over a write up/video of YZ125 or YZ250 JGR build.

No questions from me but just wanted to say I am a huge fan, you have an absolutely killer style on the bike and display all the traits of a true competitor who honestly hates to lose no matter the circumstances. Barca vs. Sipes at Indy in 2011 is one of the best races I've seen, and made a huge fan out of me since JB in no way needed the win but fought until the last inch of the race anyway.

Hey Justin,

Hope you're back soon and 110% for the outdoors!

After Washougal last year, while hanging out in the parking field, I noticed you went by us sideways in a pickup with a big grin on your face and a girl in the passenger seat. I also noticed you were driving a Dodge.

Is it a conflict with sponsors to have so much fun in anything but a Toyota?

J/K. Give 'em hell at the Nats!

Couple things.... I've known Marshal Weltin for a while and what you're doing for him is beyond awesome. If someone didn't already root for you that reason alone is enough!

So niceties aside, you knew KRoc was there on that infamous scrub right? I mean come on BRO, just come clean! It was awesome and insane at the same time, and I loved it..... just wanted to see what you had to say about it now some time has passed. Don't worry about anyone reading your relply, no one's pays attention to Vital forums...Whistling Evil Whistling

Hey Justin
With me being euro (British) I obviously never get much chance to see you Americans ride, only MXdN races really. My first time seeing you was lommel, in which you had an awesome ride and I was more than impressed with how you hung it out and rode. I walked the track after and even that was hard work for me, so how did you as first timer at lommel find the track?
And second question I was not far from you when you tried that move on big ken, what was you thinking then, obviously you didn't mean to go down but did you just want to give ken a bit of bar to bar action or did you just come in too hot, and please be honest we will still think yer a beast.
P.S. Rumour was you and Ken became friends after if so that show how a man should act from both sides.
Good luck in the future man I'll be rooting for ya.
