I could be wrong but I don't see how it could be cheaper. A steel perimeter frame could be made with existing steel tube. Auto-bending/cutting, jigging, and welding a steel frame would be cheaper than building molds, casting, jigging and welding, no? And lighter, dare I say? Might be a wash, I don't know.
