1982 xr200r finished

I just finished restoring this 82 xr200r it's mostly stock painted the frame n swingarm new front n rear fenders chain sprockets piston n rings. Still stock bore cleaned the valves new poweroll timing chain n upper timing sprocket and rub blocks. Clean and inspected bottom end and replaced clutch plates gaskets clean carb new air filter new brake pads rebuilt suspension and tires kenda washougals.

Upgrades
Xr250r front end 41mm
Xr250r rear shock ('85 year)
Crf150 foot pegs - wider than stock
Crf230f shift lever
Newer cdi n stator setup from 94 n up models
Renthal 971 bars full diamond grips and asv levers.
One industries bailey front number plate

Nice work. We have a class for the mighty XR200 down here in Southern California. These things are indestructable.

You built that into a cool little bike. I rode one years ago and couldn't believe how God awful slow it was. I couldn't believe there was a motorcycle built slower than a 1980 KX125. I mean it felt like a warm breath. Well I rode an enduro on my PE175 floater with a XR on my minute. I couldn't believe the guy was constantly dropping me. He was in my class and kicked my butt. The power is decieving.I'd love to own one now

Your bike looks just right with the longer suspension. Its just what that bike needed

I raced one in Enduro and Scrambles (Okla, Arkansas) back when they came out. (Belonged to the shop I worked for) It was a total hoot to ride. Hold the throttle wide open. If you want to go faster, shift up. If you need to slow down, shift down. It was that simple.

Good idea replacing the forks. The stockers bent without even trying. Your restoration looks good.

This bike I'm moving on whomever gets it will have enough spares to build a second bike.

This bike reminds me of when my brother and I would take out in the night and would ride tandem. We always found someone else doing the same and it would turn into a night game of tag on dirt bikes. It got pretty crazy and we almost rode off a cliff that was the end of night riding.

Very nice! I grew up on these things and yeah, not only indestructible, but they are submarines too. Nice job on the front fender not pointing at the sky like all the others!

Very nice! My dad and many friends rode these. What is the advantage if any of the newer stator and cdi? The picture is my dad enduroing one of his XR's.

I had one as a spare. Ended up having to race a enduro at perry mountain on it, had a blast and still ended up top 5 in B vet. Lol

Lots of them here and there on facebook. The Kawasaki clothing was a surprise by my wife and Vintage Iron for my 50th birthday. I took it in to have the motor freshened up and I got it back hopped up a few hp and dressed in new clothes. It was a nice surprise.

Are you having any trouble with the longer rear shock?

Believe it or not the travel specs are stock. I did take the bike to Race Tech to have them modify the suspension to work for my weight of 220 pounds. The forks have stiffer springs and Cartridge Emulators. The only parts of the shock that are original are the upper body and remote reservoir. The rear spring is about twice as stiff as the stocker. The shock shaft is larger at 14mm. The internals are completely new and the lower clevis is new. For just 10 inches of travel is works remarkably well. The motor has a slightly more aggressive cam, larger intake valve, high compression piston and a 30mm carb. I get pretty good starts considering my weight. It has been a fun bike to build and race.

Yup. A friend who owns a shop and could ride anything he sold at the time from Honda, Ktm, and husky chose the xr200 as his enduro bike in the tight newnengland woods.

This was my XR, I got it and rebuilt the motor, I fitted a bigger carb and some old glasspack muffler I found on the road, I thought the clutch was slipping in the high revs but it was wheel spinning, I was totally shocked at the power this little 200 made.

Thats a 1990! I always wanted one. I had a 1990 XR100 and wanted the bigger brother as I got older. You almost never find any 1990's these days.

They use the XR200 motors here in Junior speedway cars and Junior speedway solo bikes, its very hard to find motors and pars now
