Huge bummer, I used to be in awe every time I would watch him ride when we went to Jaycee park in Greenville NC. My first contest was at his Eastwood ramp park down in Wilmington, he inspired me and a lot of my fiends when we were kids.

R.I.P. Dave
Did you ever see him racing MX at the Crystal Coast/JWTF compound? He had not been riding long and was holding his own. It was cool to see him out there. Low profile, wore a lot of black gear.
Damn shame.

If you look at his instagram, he posted some cryptic shit the last few hours and days.

So sad to see and hear about.

RIP Dave.
I hadn't been on Instagram for about a day and a few of the things he posted in the last day to day and a half is kind of chilling. Almost like he had too much pride to ask for help so he was throwing out a few last signs hoping that someone would pick it up.

Really really sad when children are involved in something like this. I've thought for years that Mat Hoffman looks like he has a tough time with the pain he appears to be in......Mirra is shocking.

The song "What I Got" comes to mind for me lol. I played that game so many times I remember that song word for word almost. Mirra definitely had an impact on my life even if it be as small as inspiring me to go outside and try a new trick on whatever I was interested in that particular day. BMX wouldn't be where it is today without that guy. Really sucks to see news like this, makes you wonder.

RIP he will missed.
That ain't no lie, so many hours, tears Rollin down Bc I didn't blink my eyes kinda commitment. I'm still just blown away

If you're around 30 you watched mirra blow your mind at X games as a kid. Saw him at gravity games and the stuff he did made me in awe as a young teen.

So sad.

From the outside the guy appeared to have had the kind of life millions of others would dream of.

Back in the 90s without internet it was hard to catch usa / international extreme sports events but i'll allways remember the x-games bmx stuff from him.

And ofcourse playing his game on the ps 1 back in the day.

Played the crap out of that game with some friends. RIP legend.

Dave was originally from Central New York and often was around visiting family and old friends. When he was here he'd regularly visit a local bar/restaurant that one of my good friends is the manager at and those two became really good friends. Met Dave on several occasions thru my buddy and he was super down to earth and a very cool guy. We all went one night and rooted for him at a Amatuer boxing night here in Syracuse. Wish I still had the video on my phone to share. Very sad deal and he will be missed by many.

I am one of those guys, Dave was my HERO in my early teens. Sooooo sad!

He did so many epic things is his life and he affected so many people in a positive way, I wish he was still here to read this thread and the comments on his social media, I'm sure that would have cheered him up.

RIP and prayers sent for his family to help them through the tough times now and in the future

Sucks. Someone I looked up to as a kid. Did he actually commit suicide? If so I just lost a lot of respect for him..

Feel for his family though

Very sad...I remember tuning in to the BMX type events for one reason, and that was to see Mira ride. It was so exciting to see what he was going to do next. Gone too soon...I wish the best for his family.

Lost respect for him? This is the attitude that stops people coming forward with mental health issues......"just man up" right?

Yeah. I think you deal with your problems yourself don't pass them on to the ones who are the closest to you.
No excuses for suicide, specially not if you have a family on your own

Dang! so sad for him and his family.

I often wonder what can be done, if anything, for stars that are past their prime that fall into depression and or alcohol/chemical dependence from not being able to handle living a regular life after their stardom has run it's course...

Don't want to turn the thread into a debate about mental health etc so my last comment, but what if he done it FOR his family in his eyes, isn't that the ultimate act of courage/sacrifice. No one can imagine what he was thinking/suffering at that time.
