Dave Mirra?

This is going to carry implications which totally sucks. This on the same day Schumacher's old team manager said "the news is not good".

Such sad news... I remember watching that dude tear it up on the x games when I was a little kid and then running out and hitting every jump I could find on my xr50. I wonder, and this is just purely speculation, if the concussions are taking a toll on these guys the same way as they've found out they do on the NFL players? It's such a hot topic right now in the NFL and they're spending so much time and money on the research of the long term effects of the concussions on the players (as they absolutely should). The x games and action sports as they call them haven't been around relatively that long, and the speeds and power of the bikes in motocross is higher than its ever been... There isn't that much data on the long term effects because relative to the NFL it's a new thing. I hope this doesn't become a trend.... Thoughts and prayers with the Mirra family.

Sad deal. He was one of my heros growing up. I had his signature bike, shoes, and his video games.

I wonder if he had a history of brain injury. Junior Saeu comes to mind.
I would almost be surprised of they don't conclude he suffering from CTE.

If you follow him on social media you find this hard to believe. He was posting stuff almost daily of all the things he was up to including with his daughter. This doesn't make sense.

Unfortunately the chances that this is CTE related are pretty high. My uncle suffered for years with serious issues related to this devastating condition and he committed suicide as a result.

Very sad. So bummed. He was amazing on a bike and seemed like a great guy. Depression is the most painful experience.

The song "What I Got" comes to mind for me lol. I played that game so many times I remember that song word for word almost. Mirra definitely had an impact on my life even if it be as small as inspiring me to go outside and try a new trick on whatever I was interested in that particular day. BMX wouldn't be where it is today without that guy. Really sucks to see news like this, makes you wonder.

RIP he will missed.

He always seemed like a positive guy. Bummer, one of the greats. I feel sorry for his kids, they don't deserve something like this.

Super bummed. I use to be the head judge for the AFA contests and remember this 10 year-old ramp rider from NY who just shredded. Then he rode for us at Dyno/GT when I was there. Super proud of all he accomplished. Super bummed he didn't reach out. Just thinkin' about his wife and kids. Jeez Dave. You are at peace now brotha.

RIP Dave. Best wishes to his family especially his little girl. To young to understand.

Reefer Sutherland, I'm not picking up what your putting down. Just curious as to where your going with this?

Devastating news. As someone else mentioned BMX was as close as I could get to moto as a kid and it consumed the majority of my adolescence until about 25 when I began riding more moto. I was lucky enough to as much as bump into him at a small contest back in '06, it was a big deal for everyone that he was there and he took it in stride and put on an amazing show.

Having just watched Concussion and seeing what's happened in Moto lately I can't help but hope there is decent funding for more research into CTE. Entertainment, fame and a moment in the spotlight is not worth the suffering these families have to go through.

Condolences to the Mirra family and friends.

Ride in Peace

It's such a tragedy! He was struck by a vehicle back in 1993 while crossing a street and suffered a fractured skull, concussion and blood clot. It was a months long recovery. I would also be curious about the implications of those injuries. Either way, what a crying shame.

If possible, I hope they check him for CTE, though with a gun shot to the head it may be tough. He took plenty of big hits to the head.

Anyone that complains that JS7 is taking time to heal instead of rushing back on the bike can shut the F up.

RIP Dave Mirra, you will be missed, and I am truly sad that you are gone.

Huge bummer, I used to be in awe every time I would watch him ride when we went to Jaycee park in Greenville NC. My first contest was at his Eastwood ramp park down in Wilmington, he inspired me and a lot of my fiends when we were kids.
