I read the "How Does Reed Do It" thread.........
The OP asked if he was injecting Westin Peick blood....???
Um, what?
I really can't see the fascination with this guy. He's not some hulking bad-ass, or Chuck Norris reincarnated ( as past threads have suggested ). He has never been a win threat, nevermind a title threat. ( unless you count overseas wins -Finland, Bercy - but that's not what we are talking about.....) He's a good rider who fades over the course of a series, a hot head who kicks his bike off the stand after an LCQ and who punches guys in the neck with their helmets on, he's a good rider with a bad attitude. And he's now 2 races down and $5000.00 poorer than he was two weeks ago.
Reed is........well we all know Reeds long list of accomplishments and contributions to the sport. Soo....can anyone tell me why he would be injecting Peick blood?
Anyone?

You go off knocking the guy based on a joke someone made in another thread?
Don't take it personally bro, I just have a hard time understanding it.

I don't like Peick either.
4 years ago this guy was struggling to make mains.
Today he is a factory rider with top 10 speed easy.
I don't get the fascination of how 'big' he is, he is just a normal looking dude to me while most MX guys are short and or skinny.
But at the end of the day he is just a cool story.
SX started two weeks ago.
You can quite creating threads like this one.
As far as Reed, the guys got talent and he's committed. His ego is his asset. He works hard and knows what he wants. He's one of the few riders to have won an event year for a while.

People are fascinated with the guy because he didn't throw a leg over a bike until he was 14. Had some natural talent right off the get go. Slaved his way through the ranks on his own dime. Skipping races because he couldn't afford to pay for an engine rebuild even after finishing on the podium. Progressively got better. Progressively got more opportunity. Now he's landed on Jgr and I hope he starts winning races.
That's fascinating.

The fascination with Peick stems from a few things, one, his story, dude was a nobody who clawed his way into a factory ride. Two, his size/style, sure, Weston isn't a huge guy, but the way he manhandles the machine makes him seem bigger. Reminds me of Kyle Keast aka the Dozer.
Its an emotional sport, try spending your own dime and dedicating your life to it, only after that would you understand why Weston kicked the bike off that stand, losing that position cost him a lot of money. And the Friese deal was brewing a long time, you can't torpedo a guy twice in one night, especially someone you have history with, and not expect them to be pissed.
OK, I might be a little bias here, because I am friends with his dad and have known Weston since he was on minibikes. (He started riding well before 14, BTW) I personally think that there is a lot of people on this forum that bring on the hate for Weston, between the guys that "pump hm up" to be the BADASS and make stupid comments on how he hurts the dirt when he crashes, etc.... and also the other comments of how "you wouldn't say that to his face" blah blah blah... Those comments/ posts just bring on the hate from others who get tired of reading them. I GET IT, I really do.
Weston doesn't self promote himself to be a badass or tough guy, the keyboard warriors on here do !! He's not a dick, nor is he a push over that will take shit from other riders on the track. (Hence the Friese incident....) he NEVER rides dirty or out of control, he gives the other riders more room than he needs to, IMO. Other riders RESPECT him. Not because they are worried about getting beat up, because he is a professional and has earned the respect.
To the clowns that keep bringing up the "kicking his bike off of the stand" incident, c'mon man, get over it !! He's passionate about racing and was bummed out when he thought he missed qualifying again from a bullshit transponder placement on the bottom of the jump, versus the checkered flag. Why is it that some of you guys/ girls get offended by this ? Have you NEVER lost your cool before and did something stupid or are you all fucking perfect ? I know I've done way worse things, but never got caught on camera doing them.
As far as the Friese deal.... Well, personally I LOVED it. (as did the majority of people that at he'd it) I realize that it was both a bad move on his part and also not a great idea to punch someone in the helmet. He LOST HIS COOL, shit happens !! I know for a fact that he would do it different, if he could go back in time, but for those of you (MOST OF YOU) that don't actually follow this sport at the amateur level wouldn't understand the history of either rider. Vince is and always has been a somewhat DIRTY / aggressive rider. He's done some dumb shit in the past that has brought on hatred from most of the other riders. He's deserved it...... Canadiens nationals come to mind !
Weston has came up as a solid amateur, but was never a stand out rider until he turned Intermediate and then won Lorrettas. He followed that up with a 9th at his first outdoor race (Glen Helen '09). So those of you that say he started as a nobody are wrong, 9th place in a 450 national is hardly a "nobody", but I guess being only 19 and not being a stand out qualifies him as "nobody"? He had several fill in rides and always gave his best effort, never giving up on his goals, never complainig about the bikes that everyone else was talking shit about. Because of his size (YES, HES BIGGER THAN MOST OF THE OTHER SX RIDERS), he wasn't looked at as a title threat and was over looked for the young kids that were being hyped up coming up from the amateurs. Meanwhile, he put his head down and kept racing and started training. He got himself into great shape and his results started to show his effort was paying off. Meanwhile, still being overshadowed by the guys up front and young kids coming up.
Fast forward to the present... He has gained a lot of fans that appreciate the hard work and also gained some fans that give him a bad rap with the dumb comments that some of you get tired of reading. I GET IT, I HATE READING THEM TOO !! That doesn't make it his fault, he's not the one self proclaiming to be a badass, give the guy a damn break already.
Shane- I know we've talked about this before and I respect your opinion and always like reading your posts/ texts. I'm usually always behind your opinions and can understand why you aren't a Peick fan, but I'd really like to have you come out and spend some time around him, I'm pretty sure you'd feel different about him. If you ever want to come out this way and do some riding or go to a Ca SX race/ Glen Helen, MXGP, etc, you have a place to stay and I will be glad to put you up/ show you around and give you a chance to form a fair opinion of him. You got my #.
Give him some more control over his comments, emotions and reactions and publicly he's a more likable personality. I wouldn't say I'm an "anti Peick" guy, just that I'm not whole heartedly behind him like some people here are. Maybe if I spent some time with him, I'd understand better and feel differently.
I haven't made it out to any races out in California, but I'd love to. I'd actually love to do some riding out there just to say I've ridden some of those glorious tracks!
Shane
Dude just have fun, everything doesn't have to have a purpose, ask your woman, she doesn't get that you go in circles on a dirt bike but she rolls with it, just for you!
