Sometimes you just got to let go a punch. But in todays Political Correct world you cannot
do that. Rex Staten never was penalized by the way.

Yep. I don't think Rex had as much to lose as Weston does in terms of marketing, sponsors, team image on social media. Sometimes you just got to not let go a punch.

I was there when RJ planted a knuckle sandwich on the Dogger at a Golden State race in Adelanto. The riders need to go back to open face helmets!

Why would anyone punch somebody in the helmet? And then to top it off he hurt his hand............

Rex Staten WAS a badass...not just a hyped one like WP. Rex would have knocked Freise out...helmet or not.

What planet you living on? There was plenty of marketing (ever see an ad in a magazine or on TV?).... And... Social media was actually social, word of mouth, speaking face to face with other human beings..

Rex would have ripped the handlebars off of VF's bike and wrapped them around his head.

From what I read, decades ago, Staten was a fairly accomplished boxer. Some form of State Titlist (Golden Gloves?)

Peick, whilst a pretty good bloke (and rider) in my eyes, just has a 'rep' / 'title' that has been placed upon him by fans / the media.

Staten made the mistake of getting into it with Big John Banks at the USGP one year - a fellow ex boxer (and one of natures true gentlemen) - I think if that was allowed to go on past the furry of fisticuffs that happened, it could have been quite bloody, for both of them.

Peick - I feel sorry for him - you just can't thump a dickhead in full view of a packed stadium, and a fair few hundred thousand google box viewers.

In these PC days, he probably will come out of this, very much worse than Freise. Freise has a long record of being a f***wit, it's a pity that he can't put that behind him, and just rely on his skills.

Not even a legit comparison. Rex didn't embrace his image as a tough guy-----he just happened to be a genuine tough guy. WP seems one step removed from referring to himself in the third person, imo. Further, I have always believed Rex's rough around the edges persona cost him some opportunities back in the day. BTW, huge Rex fan here---still have a short stack of Bassett Racing stickers he gave me as a kid.
