Good post. I immediately thought of this fight when I saw what happened last night. I remember Peick being interviewed by Don from Transworld after this took place in Washougal practice and Peick stated how Friese had been messing with him and making it hard for him to get a lap in (something to that effect, haven't seen the interview in a while). Anyway, there is definitely a built up history there.

They're the Kardashians of sx. Freise will be jgr's punching bag for the rest of the season.

Freise races like a piece of shit. Between cross jumping and routinely taking the lines he takes, he's not even trying to go faster. Just trying to block the line. He will eventually impact a title contender and all of his defenders will be singing a different tune. Unless they're that dumb.

Jgr isn't as squeaky clean as people think they are. Anybody ever watch nascar? Kyle Busch has been known to not let being wronged slide and neither does Matt Kenseth for example wrecking Joey Logano this season during the chase no less, after repeated run ins. I am a fan of both drivers and people remember those instances.

You just don't punch someone in the back of the neck, that had to of weighed in on the suspension.

When this happened, I was sitting with my buddies, and he goes, "hey man, I bet you right now there are a bunch of pussies shitting all over Pieck on that forum."

Lo-and-behold. He's right.

In hockey they just get a couple minutes in the penalty box. I'm more for that.

2 race suspension? That's ridiculous. What did Emig get when he kicked Mike Larocco in the ribs with his steel toe boot?

I bet Peick appeals this ruling and races next week. Friese is a fucking clown and everyone knows it.

If it weren't for the fact that nearly everyone agrees VF has had it coming for awhile, I think the penalties would have been much higher. Having said that, its gotta be hard for JGR to stand by him. You know the coach probably wants to say, "Grab yer stuff and hit the road." They do have Phil just sitting there waiting to ride.

Racing incident.
1/10/2016 7:14am
Quick question because the laws may be different in the USA, if I was riding at a local track and I knocked someone me down while racing and they got up and started punching me would that be okay from the standpoint of the law?
I thought there was some incident at Glen Helen last year where some guy got arrested for fighting.

I like WP, but if I were Coy Gibbs I would replace him permanently.

The second line of what you typed is the major err here, IMO.

Also, if I read another person type either "Peick puched...assault...blah blah.." or "...(assault)..." then I'm going to....well, probably just complain on Vital more about that being such an exaggerated statement.

If that's truly assault, and you genuinely - as a fan of sx and mx - feel that way, then this may not be your lane. I understand why someone might make the statement as it relates to trying to overtly prove a point about WP being in the wrong (which is, to an extent, undeniable). That being said, if you honestly think that was assault, which is an offense worthy of criminal prosecution...please. He hit a dude that had a helmet on, if Friese was so terribly injured from said assault, he wouldn't have raced anymore. Let's all just try really hard to be reasonable...I know that's a huge thing to ask for sometimes, but try hard - I know we can do it...maybe..

It was assault. When you punch another person and it's not self defense, it IS assault. Whether it was assault or not does not depend on the injuries incurred, that would only play into what extent the prosecutor could charge. Both players and coaches have been criminally charged for assault on the playing field, Peick is not exempt because it is a sporting event.
Using your rationale we could (and should) have assault charges in every NFL game ever played.
Didn't happen last night and doesn't happen in the NFL either. I think it was embarrassing for JGR and team. Maybe the bad press for VF will actually force him to stop riding like he does.

Peick looked like a little kid throwing a temper tantrum. Now he'll whine again and say everybody should just stay out of his way.

Peick got off easy 1 race and 5k. .

He gets paid to race not fight. You don't do that on front of sponsors and the public. It isn't hockey. After the race in a more private setting, do your thing....

Assault charges for that? Woohoo

What about assault with a deadly weapon for Friese or any other rider taking somebody out then? No. Let's stop the insanity.

Reading some of these responses blows me away. Some of them are so ridiculous that I am actually laughing out loud. Do some of you really believe that Peick calculated that? I'm fairly confident that he didn't wait until later to pay him back because he was furious and lost it when he got taken out by the same dude in two consecutive races in the same night. I'd be pissed too! Sure, Peick should have held his cool, but I guarantee that the heat of the moment took over. Friese has had this coming for a long time now and I guarantee that he'll start riding a lot differently from here on out... if he's smart, at least.

What a disgrace for Peick's sponsors and fans and an embarrassment to him. Throwing multiple punches at someone wearing a helmet? Wait until after the race and give him one good punch in the pits. Or throw some punches to the abdomen or kidneys at least. But into his helmet lol?

Yes I'm being facetious. He should have handled it like a professional because he is supposed to be a professional. Sure Friese's take out may not have been professional but you got to be the better man. Handle it in the right way and at the right time...take him out at a later race.

I'll admit it was entertaining, but also uncalled for. He deserved some sort of penalty because seeing a guy closed fist punch another in the back of the helmet repeatedly makes the sport of Supercross look like low rent public access wrestling.

I can sympathize with Peick, but I also understand the penalty.
Exactly. Think that pretty much sums it up.

Because they police themselves just like in hockey. Moto and hockey 2 best sports on Earth.

Another clip for the next SX TV commercial. Sure Pieck blew a major circuit and went on a one way cat fight but this will be good for the sport in the long run. 20 Canards do not make for good TV,.....if it wasn't for assclowns like Friese and helmet hating doofuses like Pieck last night would have been another snoozer.

My opinion on the penalty is it was one race too long. Why sit someone next week when his presence will help put asses in the seats and add viewers to the broadcast.

Friese could end someone's career he's just been lucky to have to until niw. He deserves to get the fuck beaten out of him. Let's just be honest and cut the P.C. bullshit. The ama won't do shit to Vince so why should Weston just continue to allow someone to violently ram into them with a 200lb motorcycle? ??

Peick just gained a shit load of fans, I wonder how much his social media sites have jumped up. As bad as it is now, social media carries weight in this sport.

I hope Peick's hand is alright. Anyone have any update on that??
I occasionally work as a MMA ref and have been in a couple scuffles racing Motocross:
1. Avoid the fight if possible(never solves the issue, always creates more problems).
2. Never closed fist punch a helmet, you will most likely break your hand. Open palm strikes are more effective.
3. Make it quick, there's a race going on and you are not in it..
4. Thigh kicks, judo throws and knee to the liver shots are the most effective techniques(note if opponent is wearing a chest protector skip the knee unless you can get around the plastic part).
5. When it's over, deny, deny deny. If there is video, apologize and accept your punishment.
6. Never use a weapon, you can get charged with attempted murder.

Moral of this story, if you want to fight, go to a local MMA gym. If you think you are pretty tough, this will surely humble you..

Absolutely! My son asked me why did that guy punch the other one (hes 4). My eldest son said, "the one running away rides dangerous and is a little bitch, the other one is tired of it." I feel i have not contributed to the pussification and im glad. Half of u fairies around here sound like the worst soccer moms. When did it become so bad to bust someone when they were being a POS. Damn times were simpler. We live in a goofy age for sure
