Henry winning Vegas SX on the YZ400. Maybe not the "Biggest" single headline but the sport changed forever that night. What if he would have finished 18th or the bike blew up on the 3rd lap, would everyone still be on 4 strokes today ? Things changed that night.

Worthy mention, though by no means the biggest - Ken Worthy's being cancelled due to heavy rain in 2003.

As previously said it has to go to 'RV to Europe' imo (at least for me). It caught a lot of people off guard and was a big deal to all MX fans from around the world. I remember every time Racerx interviewed someone they'd finish off by asking how they thought Ryan would get on. And then the anticipation for each round... No one will ever again be quite so excited for the opening GP in Qatar. The build up was insane.

If you're speaking strictly from a personal standpoint, then yes, but the question was "Biggest moto headline ever," and from a purely "shot hear 'round the moto world" standpoint, it's the '81 MX/Trophy des Nations team. Sadly, the moto community doesn't remember David's crash every January, but we sure as hell remember that '81 team every September when the MXdN rolls around.

And again at the end of '97. I was at Hi Point that year for his final national win riding the aluminum framed Honda. Epic mud race, he had to pass Ryan Hugh's in the final moto to get the overall. The parade lap was insane. Hi Point fans loved Bradshaw.
