Why does everyone assume it's up to Reed to announce the team? It's not HIS team, it's factory Yamaha.. TwoTwo Motorsports is no more.

I know I was laughed at by the diehard Reed fans before, but this really is the perfect opportunity for him to show up with a YZ250 2 stroke and just kick it old school. Do the glorified box fan, soak up all the good vibes from not only his fans, but the 2 stroke loyalists who will go NUTS if they see one in the main event. Just go out having fun.

The best part about it is he can't really do poorly...the bike is going to get most of the blame or credit. Sure beats farting around in the 10-15 position with the "best equipment." Any position YZ250 would be legendary. And based upon how he threw down at AUS-X I don't think it would take long to shake the rust off.

Racing a 250cc 2 stroke against 450cc 4 strokes in the hands of pros in AMA SX is legendary? Most would call it stupid, he would struggle to qualify for the main.

So what if he struggles to qualify. What is he racing for....a Championship? You would rather see him pound his head against a brick wall with a 450 and fizzle out with another forgettable season and be like, "Yep there he goes....one of the best. He settled in at 16th and then retired."

A YZ-250 would be marketing genius. Can't really say how the results would turn out. Guys on 250 4-strokes occasionally have the fastest lap times. Horsepower would not be a limitation, there's only so much traction. The rideability of the power might be an issue for lap times. It would be fun and interesting, no doubt about that. I can dream...

Umm.. Yeah he's racing for a Championship.. If Reed can get a top 7 start and make it through the lap 1 bumping and stuffing carnage that's plagued him the last couple seasons, then he's a threat to win any Supercross this year.

If he can consistently do something he hasn't been able to consistently do in years, then sure.........you are right. Thats been the problem though. And while I will never count him out for another magical win, I would rather seen several magical podiums all season long. However, being a little older and a little worse for the wear probably won't help him out - nevermind the new guys.

Nah, just foolin around, Reed will come out swinging on a fully factory prepped blue bike and be ready to go. If he gets a start he will probably be tough to pass as usual.

What happened with the Discount Tire sponsorship though? Are they still going to be a series sponsor and not just a personal sponsor for him, or is that back on now? Thought they worked well together and they were a good sponsor for the sport.
I'd be surprised if Chad gets any top 5's this season. Just too many faster, younger dudes racing this year. I really really hope im wrong. He got his ass handed to him at MEC and I doubt he's faster on a Yamaha and if he is I doubt he's so much faster as to suddenly start winning.. Would be cool if he does though. Actually that would be super cool...That would mean there's still hope for guys like me.

I would think he is paid to try and win a championship not ride around on a outgunned 2 stroke

A 10 year old 2 stroke (new model year 10 yr old R&D) against today's 450 thumps would get smoked. How quickly we forget that even when the smokers were racing same year technology against the thumps a la DV & MC, they both went right back to the thumps because they could not compete. Not only will the bikes be that much faster, the minds of everyone else on thumps would no with confidence they can beat the smoker no matter who is on it.

As cool as it would sound, Chad would get embarrassed beyond belief.
JFTR, I am a lifer CR22 fan, & I ride a 250 2 stroke.

Yeah everyone is paid to go get championships. Everyone who got a win they are all in the hunt. Sure.

So chad finishing a1 outside the top 10 (on top of the line equipment) or chad finishing 19th place at a1 on a smoker. What gets the headlines and the press? Nuff said.

The funny thing, they are both completely realistic.

Reed winning on a Yamaha 450 is also realistic. Reed winning on a YZ250 is not. Signed YZ250 owner.

Minus the fact that one is completely ignorant for Chad to do. It isn't about the press for Chad Reed, he gets plenty of it without a 250T. Chad has X amount of time left in his career, and he wants to do the absolute best he can possibly do. He believes in himself, and obviously Yamaha does as well. Chad will do well, it is time for all of you two stroke lovers to let the dream die.

Are you forgetting he finished 4th in the series last year? That's with getting the black flag the one race which seemed to really take the wind out of his sails for the season. I think he will be just fine this year.

I guess the issue Chad has is last year he had RD, WP, TC, ET, CS, JAnderson, JBarcia to contend with, now adding to that list this year is MM, JBogle, JS, DM. Plus you have the likes of riders such as KChisolm who be mixing it up as well and perhaps JakeW.

I hear you. It's a long list for sure but it isn't like all of those guys have him covered 100%. Dungey, Roczen and Tomac are hands down the favorites after that it's a toss up and I think Reed fits into that next group. It's going to be interesting watching the racing going on in the top 10 this year.

The other guy suggesting Reed is 10-15 place guy and just go waste a season on a yz250 is pretty silly. He's been competitive up to this point so I see no reason it will be any different this season.

I wouldn't call it a waste of a season. He doesn't like how thumpers have changed the sport. He doesn't like the circus style jumps. He is very much in line with K-Dubs train of thought. I think it would be a great way for him to go out - prove that the 450 is too much, play to the fans, hang up the hat and do some commentating. I'm a Reed fan and its going to kill me to see him spend 10 laps trying to get around Justin Brayton battling for 13th place and I'm supposed to be like, "Well its a stepping stone."

And what sucks is Reed is really fast. He still throws down, but did you guys see how Reardon was doing at AUS-X? WTF?? I know Reed is fast, I know he still believes in himself, and I know he is capable of a win. Still, seeing him stuck outside the top 10 battling with dudes who aren't in his league isn't a great way to go out. Reed sure as hell isn't going to be happy with it and the fans aren't going to be pumped about his slack jawed interviews where he's obviously pissed off about it. Most of the close people around him are gone and now he's cobbling something together which doesn't give me great feeling about 2016.

This is crazy....15 years ago I was having the same arguments yet defending the four stroke when people said the thumper wasn't as good, it was too heavy, too complicated, doesn't handle as well. The three fastest dudes in 2005 were all on two strokes because people still weren't totally convinced. How times have changed.

I'd bet money with either CR or JS7 on a 2 stroke they can get inside the top 10.
