So what is the deal with Stewart?

For me I consider it a privilege to have James competing another season. Carmichael will always be the GOAT when it comes down to results on paper. Everts the KING on his side of the pond but James has had one hell of an amazing career. He always has had the ability to string together and pull off insane combos.......either making it or crawling away...or lately a mule ride. Having Stewart on the startline is huge for the sport and I look forward to next year. I really believe it will be a good year for him.

Stewart will still be able to go out and put down the fastest lap times in sx.
Useless unless he does 20 consecutively.

heres something to think about. what does every rider in the world do or try ? who invented it ? you just gave the most talented rider EVER a vacation and pissed him off. not a good combo for others. time will tell but the possibilities are endless.

I think he'll come out blazing fast at Straight Rhythm and MEC, but by the 5th round of SX, he'll already be injured and missing at least one round.

The year he went 24-0 he was working with Aldon, and the next sx season he won was the last title he has won. Stew lovers like you jerk off to the thought of him being smarter and wiser than ever before. Watch races from the beginning of seasons 2010 through now every year. You'll hear a lot of "he seems wiser and smarter this year this could be the year", and 6 years running he hasn't been smart enough or wise enough to beat a dungey or villopoto.

Maybe if the top 4 are hurt by the tenth round and he is racing Blake baggett for the title he will be as dominant as he used to be. People forget that James had no competition in the late 2000's unless RC or CR were there. Everyone has caught up now, everyone is so much closer to his level than ever, and unless he's firing on all cylinders he's not even faster than the other guys. The tracks now are so stupid and basic and all the same, they favor whoever can just pin it, not be technical.

he'll have some fastest lap times and MAYBE win 3-4 races but i just don't see him pulling out a dominating series run this late in his career.

You say he had no competition in the late 2000's but that is just flat out not true. Everyone out there is an animal on a dirt bike (even more so for anyone in the top 10) and he was just THAT much better than everyone else. Same for RC during his perfect seasons.

Did I miss something?

shouldn't raining yellow be in here telling everyone that js7 is gonna defeat Trump and Hilary and turn the whitehouse into a massive mx compound during his clean sweep of 2016 sx while giving all his true fans free 7 gear?

With RV gone, James can, and will take it down a notch when he is not in the groove. He can lose a race here or there to RD...or KRoc...because day in day out, in SX...he has their number. The only guy that could run James SX pace..was RV...and he was so consistent it put a TON of pressure on James. James did not work well under that pressure. That is gone, and everyone is going to be so shocked at how dominant JS is. It should not be a shock.

He straight up beat RV multiple times in 14...and RV is gone. No one else is on their level (in SX..). Saying he will only win a few races is comical. He wins at least 6 in 2016...He could win 10. Consider this...in 2014 he won 4 races...and finished 2nd to RV 3 times. That is 7 wins right there with RV gone. Then there are other races he screwed up because he got too impatient trying to make up points in big chunks on RV...only to end up on the dirt.

People underestimate the dynamic inter-relationship between competitors. Just the presence of a competitor who has your number can throw off your whole mental game. James could never really handle the consistency of RV. RD, however?...James has RDs number in SX. When James sees RD on track in front of him...he knows he has him...and he usually does. Simple as that.

Besides...he's ripped bro...

Grinoe just indirectly admitted that Dungy won all his championships because the competition was out with injuries.

It's going to rain yellow of course. I'm just excited to watch him ride again. He rides with a straight back, elbows high and smooth style. Plus he's had Malcolm to ride with and kids a sx tittle contender. James is using straight rhythm, monster cup,Australian sx to gauge his speed and setup the bike.

Even if he doesn't get the points lead during the season, he brings a lot to the sport.

Always a threat to:
-win a race
-to set the fastest lap time
-to wow, impress and inspire everyone with his skills

The only thing I wonder is, after Stew is gone, who's going to take his place in this sport? Who is the next guy with crazy unmatched talent who blows our minds with the ability (and willingness) he has to do improbable or nearly impossible things on a bike?

Who brings in the next game-changing move like the "Bubba Scrub"?

it's all about confidence. right now he doesn't know where he's at. if he comes out and wins a1 or at least challenges for the win than he will have something to build on from the very beginning. nowadays there is no time to find a good bike setup or confidence as the season goes on if you race people like dungey roczen and tomac.

James could have raced the USGP
James could still race the Internazionali d’Italia Supercross: Genova November 7
James could still race the Internazionali d’Italia Supercross: Milano November 19
James could still race the Bercy SX

The whole racing business makes sense because there is so much money flowing from sponsors who need the attention he generates, Red Bull, his own clothing company, etc etc

But yet all the opportunities to advertise the products and -------- no James.

It's like RV all over again, coming up to a major series and ducking out of the preseason races.

By the way; your comment:

You need to spell the word "then" (DANN) like this "THEN"
the word "than" has a different meaning for example, he is bigger than I am.

I know it must be hard to understand what is right and wrong because even Americans and British make mistakes just like this, I see it often.

Another typical mistake these days is using the word you're and your.

You're means "You are" (Du bist)
Your means your (Dein)

wenn er herauskommt und mindestens um den Sieg kämpfen kann, DANN (then) wird er Selbstvertrauen haben

ok,

Leave it to a Latvian to straighten out a German and an American !

Thanks for the info, that makes more sense than taking the RV route and avoiding any pre season racing.

Go get em James !

Same old song. Every Stewart thread on vital has 40% supporters...and 60% haters/pessimists.

Anybody with any sense knows that he'll be ready. I can only say that because I doubt that James is stupid, and he knows that lining up against the hottest competition he's had in years and being anything less than 100% as prepped as he can be is to be an instant loser. One thing for sure, he'll probably be the most rested, most healed & least burned out of anybody else on the line with him...

...and if he's having fun at the same time, he's dangerous.

I think all of you forget he racer by heart, he's proved himself in the past. Maybe? doesn't have what doesn't have what it take, but like Peyton Manning of the Broncos, they were calling him washed up and his last year to play and we are 4-0 now.. Hmmmm...

Having James back out there so we can all watch him again is a good thing. He always brings excitement to any race he's involved in , and besides , he's a VET rider out there in the lime light of his career. How can you not cheer for that? I'll be rooting for the guy to do well this year , and I bet he does.
