My " Anti Euro tone "...haha , LMAO! That's a good one. I've had plenty of really good bench racing talks with plenty of Euro guys on here over the years. And the guys who keep a level head and really want to just bench race , I'll do that all day with them. Jamma10 , Presspass , RG1 ( as of late ) Rob , and tons more....a lot of bench racing over the years. Good ones too.

Just because I've been here for 8-9yrs , doesn't mean anything. I'll talk good bench racing with a guy who signed up yesterday. Been watching and trying to keep up with the GP's since the Lackey and Laporte days , and STILL have all the old dirt bike mags in the attic to prove it. It's funny when someone from across the pond says " You don't know jack about the GP's " and then can never back it up in any of their arguments towards me. And again , I don't care that you have only been here 4 months , but in that short amount of time , you can't sit their with a strait face and tell me you know what my posting habits are like.

I'm not here to act superior to anyone , I just want to bench race and keep the conversations as civil as possible.
Well you talk a good game jeffro , I give you that , but you just don't seem to practice what you preach though do you...
Well you talk a good game jeffro , I give you that , but you just don't seem to practice what you preach though do you ,

For example , this is a previous reply you gave me ,

Oh man , I'm gonna make this short and simple.

You aint been here long enough to even deserve a good reply back from me. You're obviously some GP biased little dick and you aint worth my time.

Is that what you call not acting superior and keeping it civil ?

He's got you there jeffro hahaaaa.

Good one Jose Cool

Tbf and in his defence jeffro is most often quite neutral even if a little USA USA Mericaaaa sometimes, of which he is more than entitled as we all are (some around here could try to remember that), that's not a terrible thing IMO and we are all patriotic at some point, there's not enough of it in England as we have been washed away by all the bullshit of having to be PC all the time so I mostly applaud it when I see it, you guys are banging heads so often as your opinion is so very strong.
Not really Jamie. It's easy to take things out of context , which is what he just did to fit his agenda. When / if I said that , then I had a good reason for it. I'm here to talk moto and have a good time. And I don't need to defend myself against some guy who just got here and thinks he knows me. So tired of the AMA vs GP stuff. I don't really care any more.

1 - More top riders leave the MXGP's to come ride the AMA Nationals. That speaks volumes to me.

2 - The AMA tracks are more consistently ride-able. The downside is they lack the variety you get in the MXGP series. This could be a big cause for point number one.

3 - Not grooming a track at all slows the racing down drastically which makes it difficult for the non core fans to comprehend.

4 - Luongo is a lazy piece of shit when compared to Davey Coombs. In fact most people are lazy compared to DC.

5 - Comparing RV's attempt this last season is like comparing Roczen in his rookie year here. Neither were acclimated to the series and conditions. It's just not comparable.

6 - Dungey just flat out doesn't have an interest in MXGP. . . I think it has to do with the tracks themselves rather than the actual riders. Tracks on both sides of the pond get sketchy but in their own way. Dungey has catered his riding style to the US conditions, and just doesn't want to have to change his style.

Stupid argumentation all over again.

But I can't deny I love reading those threads. Laughing is healthy I heard

Do not worry I think he was I think just sarcastic and it was pretty funny.

Again the first post is sarcastic I think, everyone knows for instance how Nagl, on the same bike as Dungey, is just hauling. We can't predict an outcome, experience from transfers from both sides proved it. He could go 1-1 or 3-3 just depending on the starts.

Or maybe my sarcarm meter is not working properly Blink

Just to fan some flames here RD just beat Simpson by over 95 seconds in Moto 2 and over 40 seconds in Moto 1. What has Simpson been losing to Febvre lately?

Dungey has already Won the MxDN a few times and when it was in the USA on a track he knew instead of the other way around he crushed the field, my boy AC222 included. RD has nothing to prove, He has SX titles, MX titles, MxDN team wins and overall wins at the MxDN. Not to many guys in the history of the sport have done that.

As far as a lot of the Americans thinking the way the do, It has a lot to do with this

1988,92,96,97,98,99,00,01,04,06,08,09,10 & 11 MX2 champs came here as well as 1989,93,94,98 MX1 Champs.

Of all those world champions only 1 so far has truly excelled in a big bike indoors and out, the first one JMB. Most were very good at the nationals but SX, no.

The Best talents in the GP's have all come over in the past 15 years except for AC222 and JH84.

Langston was the next big thing he came here, Dobb wins the title after Langston leaves was never a title threat in the states(He did win 1 national though), BT instantly was a threat to Everts then came to the AMA, the only guy to beat AC222 for a title while AC was healthy the whole year came to the AMA, then the next guy Tyla was beating AC at the time of his injuries then he jumps ship. GP21 was looking like he was gonna do some damage then MM25 spanked him then comes to the AMA and finally the greatest talent since JMB and one of the greatest talents of all time Roczen makes JH his bitch and comes to the AMA. Then the only guy to keep JH in his sights last year jumps ship over to the AMA. Those are just champions that came here sans Tonus. Tommy tried it here, failed just like Max did. I am excited about who is coming next, If recent history has taught us anything its that over half of the MX2 world champions will come stateside.

I have said it plenty of times that part of what makes the AMA series harder IMO at least on paper before injuries comes into play is that we always have world champions over here as well as are guys. The joke a few years ago is that we had more world champions racing here than the GP's did.

Flame on, in this never ending argument...

you don't think david vuillemin excelled indoors? seem to remember him taking it to a certain mr Jeremy McGrath when he came over, being a contender in supercross for a few years (some would say he was better at supercross than outdoors....)
chad reed? he wasn't too bad indoors? for a gp rider....
tortelli also won his first supercross (granted he was a lot better outdoors than indoors) and pourcel has 2 supercross titles (we haven't seen him on the 450 indoors yet, but he will be up there you can pretty much bet your house on that) marvin too.

regarding simpson being SO FAR behind dungey? riding a borrowed bike he'd never been on before, with no testing at all, after flying straight out from lommel. You cant really compare that to if dungey was racing the nations- ryan would be on his own bike, with plenty of testing time in far off euroland. Seem to remember dungey being a long way behind the leaders most of the time at the nations the last 4 years. Shaun was riding on vacation, and had to go straight back to his regular job racing gps after Unadilla. Not the same at all is it?

When I say truly excel I mean titles, guys at that level are meant to win titles not get second. Your right DV did sort of challenge MC he had 4 wins to MC's 10 and MC only beat him by 35 points and won the title over a race early.. DV was a contender in 2000 and 02. But both of those years the guys he lost to won 10 and 11 races so he kept it close but no cigar.

Reed never wanted to do GP's. He had too to show results to get to America. GP's do not get to claim Reed, it was never his dream just a step he had to take to achieve his dreams.

Tortelli is a guy I wish never came to America, he was so so fast at outdoors. One of the only guys to ever straight up run RC down in good conditions on a 250/450(only KW,JS and himself did that) yet he get smoked all the time in SX a real shame. If he stayed in Europe Everts numbers would be way way down, hell his first race back in the GP's he gave Everts all he could handle after not racing MX for over a year and split motos with him.

Non the less only one GP champ has ever won MX and SX titles in the big boy class. JMB, I am a firm believer that Roczen will be next.

As far as Dungey Four years ago I remember him winning his class at the MxDN. As far as borrowed bike for Simpson, he loved that thing and loves the bike he is on now, the 2016 is better than the 15 he was riding in every single way. Like I said I am fanning the flames...... It is crazy though when you look at all the years I listed in my original post and all of those guys tried most with at least some success but only one took all the trophies home. Which is why the AMA IMO has more talent. We get the home grown talent and over half of the MX2 world champs.

You could say Everts wouldn't have had so many titles, but Tortelli could have just as easily crashed out of championships over here like he did in the States. He was known for his spectacular crashes before he moved to America.

(I preferred both Albertyn and Tortelli to Everts during the 90's)

1. Pretty dumb statement to make when he's gotten his ass kicked the last three years in the MXdN.

2. He would win at Glen Helen. Don't kid yourself into thinking he wouldn't. AMA guys train there all the time, and Dungey is the top AMA guy right now.

3. Don't use Villopoto this year as a shell of his former self as a measuring stick. Everyone who has watched him throughout his career knows that wasn't 2013 Villopoto.

4. The GP tracks are different and they don't groom it as much, but that doesn't mean they suck. There are some great GP tracks that every rider enjoys.

5. Just because it's a different surface doesn't mean they aren't racing. There's far more track variety in the GPs.

Why is everybody so sensitive about GP / AMA comparison? It's like we are talking about each others penis size Blink I follow AMA and GPs and I am European. Yes, the GP tracks have sometimes stunning view (i.e. Italy and Argentina) but most of them really don't look very attractive to ride on and definitely not compared to AMA tracks. One picture of last week AMA track was enough to drool for hours

And just exactly was that out of context , just do a quick search and then explain it to me ,

Just read again what you have posted compared to how you THINK you come across , believe me you are not the neutral guy you think you are !!!

Also , if you just don't care about any AMA v GP type threads , which obviously ALWAYS turn into a dick measuring contest , why the fuck do you always feel the need to pipe up ?

Once again , you say one thing , but then post the opposite !

I think its very telling that you commented IF I said that , take it from me Jerkfro , you did say that , but the fact that you don't fucking know what you are posting , pretty much sums you up !

I don't agree that Simpson being however many seconds behind Dungey proves anything. I'm sure he would improve with more time. But your claim that what Simpson did coming here is so different from our riders going to Europe for MXDN is silly. Our riders don't get a ton of testing time like you suggest. They are on tracks they've never ridden before with different setups, fuel, some parts, etc... in a foreign country for a one off race in a unfamiliar format. Not to mention the MXDN recently has been a month after our series which I think hurts our team the most. I think that needs to change or we stop going. I bet it gets tougher for us to get our top guys to go at least. All those years before it worked fine with scheduling so there's no reason it can't go back to how it was before.

Absolutely bullcrap. There is one guy in the world that has brought this idea around, Steve Matthes. He thinks every euro or non us rider will make a 15'th or so and that any US rider will make a top 5 in GP's and the only thing he's good at is sounding surprised when he is dead wrong every time. Villopoto came well prepared and did almost better than expected, and had he not crashed he'd be leading the championship by now. I know darn well that a small number of really ignorant US supporters believed that he'd come over and kick ass despote beeing told by practically every knowable guy in the world that it's just not gonna happen, and it didn't.

As far as Dungey, his comment about the tracks is his opinion. There are of course a bunch of tracks that he doesn't like and he think they are crap. But that the best riders in the world are racing the Nationals is a false statement and very surprising coming from a guy that has been beaten badly by GP riders on every possible occation these last years. Don't forget that he'd have a longer path to the championship if RV2, JS7, ET and TC41 had been there in shape and healthy from the beginning of this championship.

The end of your comment is quite nasty (apples vs. oranges) but the rest is very logical, so I do not understand why you replied to a post that just wanted to pump his chest. Come on, before comparing the 2 series (in all seriousness since we are trying to compare our donkey di... Whistling ), maybe try to spell Villopoto correctly, that is the minimum respect to give towards one of the greats of MX/SX history.

I am sure Reecky Kerrenikhahell, Gerhemmy Macgerafff and Setefann Haverts would agree with this ...Huh

I get the track comment but not competitive enough? lol that jsut sounds stupid and arrogant. Dungey might very well be the fastest rider in the world right now but the MXGP field is very good. Cairoli, Nagl, Febvre, Paulin, Desalle etc. Those are some fast dudes

The date of the MXdN is usually scheduled for the last weekend of September, its been like that for a number of years. There was no real advantage or dissadvantage for riders of a particular series until 2012 when MXSports chose to end the Outdoor Nationals earlier (in August) after requests from the teams. The general consensus was that they wanted more time to prepare for SX. In 2011 the Outdoor Nationals finished a week before the MXdN in France.

So Youthstream would also need to change their calendar to bring the MXdN forward, but I cant see that happening. Firstly Luongos ego won't like pandering to the needs of the US guys, and secondly we have to make the best of the weather in Europe and September tends to be one of the better months of the year for racing.

I can see the US pulling out of the MXdN in the not so distant future, especially now the energy drinks companies are putting so much emphasis on these circus events.

4 Months to prepare SX .. what utter bollocks.

I hope all the top euro's decide to stay home when the Nations next goes to the US because they need a rest.. if the USGP is a bust , i can see Luongo telling them to poke it , and taking the Nations elsewhere citing lack of support from the US MX industry in general , and who would blame him.

2015 .. the year that promised so much and delivered nothing , RV against the World ended up being a total embarrassment , the USGP should have been the event to top the year off and its ended up like this, like i said before , in 10 years time , all the apologists will look back and realise just what a total missed opportunity this was , a home and away race , 2 weekends on the bounce, if only people had the stones to do it.

Has nothing to do with stones. Has everything to do with racing essentially week in and week out since the first weekend in January.

It's not about needing 4 months to prepare for SX either. How about some time to recover and heal from injuries?!?

In the US we run 2 different series to 1 of the GP's. What it takes you essentially a year to complete, it takes 4 months here.

Goddamn, some of you just need to enjoy the differences in the racing from the GP's and the Nationals and quit making everything a dick measuring contest.

Dont wanne spoil the party but, the gp tracks are in rough condition !! but thats where motocross is all about right ?

on a saturday you have the WMX EMX125 or EMX250 on a weekend they have their timed practice and one single moto on saturday, next to it the MX2 and MX1 both have a free practice, timed practice, and a qualifying race !
At the end of the day the track is rough as hell and they dont groom it down anymore beceause that is motocross !

on the sunday the track is just as it was on saturday

Luongo could do that , and it wouldn't affect American SX/MX one bit.

I think it comes down to them seeing the US series as their job (sx and mx) and they got it done, they really don't care to show up just to swing their dick to show everyone "US is the best!" like some portray here.

So I really think they don't care if a bunch of people (mostly from Europe) think they don't have the stones.

I can't believe Dungey said that about the tracks and competition in the GPs.

He has lost my respect now.

Everyone in Europe runs 2 series too, some 3 , nobody has weeks off, they all have thier own Nationals to ride in the off weekends ,some guys ride in 2 national series, not much spare time here either.

So you are quite happy that there is a race on in your MX industries back yard , but most folk are crying off.

I want to see the best guys race the best guys, is that too much to ask?

That's a very impressive list you have quoted there old chap , but in the interest of fairness , could you please list the actual riders ,

You have quoted 18 different title winners there , so lets have them ,

Go on , I will start you off , 1989 MX1 ( 500CC ) world champion was Dave Thorpe , and as we all remember Dave spent many years racing the AMA nationals didn,t he ?

Also just to even it up a little ,

The 07 , 11 , 12 , 13 & 14 supercross champions and the 06 , 07 , 08 , 11 & 13 National champions have crossed the other way

Happy...no. And I totally get what you're saying. But I understand the "why" if they're not.

Especially in Dungey's case. The guy can't catch a break. If he doesn't race the GP or the des Nations, he's ridiculed. If he does and wins he's ridiculed bc so and so wasn't there. If he races them and gets beat, he's ridiculed bc he sux blah, blah, blah.

The dude put off his honeymoon last year because he was essentially forced to ride the des nations. And what thanks did he get??? Everyone blasted him because had RV gone or had James gone USA wouldnt have gotten beat. Its complete bullshit. Anyone....and I mean anyone, can be beat on any given weekend. He has gone the last 6 yrs in a row. He's come off a career year in wins and 2 championships. Let the guy have some down time and catch his breath.

Also, remember your GP guys don't race for purse money. There's no real incentive for the US guys to race it unless they are being compensated from the factories, sponsors, etc.

I just thought of this as well. Do you think the GP guys going for a title really want a US guy coming in and affecting the championship??? How pissed whould you be if lets say Martin took out Anstie in the last moto because they were battling for the overall and it cost Max the championship?

I like the GP's as much as I like the Nationals. I just think they are different and respect each one of the series. I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of Loungo. I think he's a crook. I still think the Des Nations is an AWESOME event but just like LL's, you can be the fastest dude all year, BUT have an off week and you become dog shit. Hahahahaha

First the 125/250/MX2
1988 JMB, 1992 Albertyn 96 Seb, 97,98,99 Chiodi 2000 Langston, 01 Dobb, 04 BT101, 06 CP377, 08 Tyla, 09,10 MM and Finally Roczen in 11. On the 250/450/MX1 1989, JMB 1993,94 Albee 1998 Seb

The guy that crossed the other way does hold a 25% MX1 win ratio in his first try across the pond in races completed, not great but certainly not bad.

Any other questions?

In 10 years time I could show you this post and you probably wouldn't believe what a whiny little bitch you used to be . . .
