Does anyone have any information on why the Legends race is only a 12 rider gate. Also a couple of the riders only had 5 or less National races they ever competed in??? I'm pretty sure If if they made an age year cut off for riders that had a National number during there Hayday. They could have filled the gates for this race. I'm not sure about you but I know a lot of racers from these guys era that still can bang Bars. Mxsports should do this again, make it once a year but announce it and have a qualifying practice.

I was prob. going anyway (esp. with the 250 title on the line) but the Legends race was the final thing that convinced me to make the trek down from WI.

I think this race was put together last minute is the reason for the small gate. I'm positive it will be a hit and will be something they do more of in the future with fuller gates. It's a great idea. Can't wait for tomorrow!

Don't know where the gate # came from, but i would guess you want to keep it down to limit the carnage & risk of injury. Based on the enthusiasm so far, I could see it being a very successful yearly event

Awesome cant wait to see carmichael drop the hammer. Wonder how far off their lap times will be to current racers. Also how much of an effect it will be with some riders having access to factory bikes compared to the others

You should listen to the latest DMXS, lots of chat on that about the event including banter between the riders taking part that they had on there. They talked about the bikes too, sounds like RC is riding a stock Suzuki with the RCH decals on it, not a factory bike as people assumed.

K-dub appeared to suggest he was just going to ride a Geico Honda that had been sat in his garage since he retired.

Its well worth a listen. Basically Emig is only interested in beating RC and RC is only interested in beating Emig.

If I had a car, I'd have driven down for sure!

We invited some local guys that have long been racers, including John Grewe and Todd DeHoop and Tom Carson, but there was no limit, we just put it together for fun. Now we think it's going to be much bigger than we thought moving forward and we will try to do it every year here and certainly invite more guys (and even Jessica Patterson after she retires!) No one was purposely left out, we just knew these guys well and called and asked them if they wanted to do an exhibition race. But it will remain invite-only, it's meant to be fun and relaxed and enjoyable for the guys, not so serious that we have qualifiers!

Yeah, local legends should definitely get the invite since they will have lots of fans at the event. Hope this grows.

Thanks for clearing it up! It should be enjoyable but still competitive. I know of a few guys that would line up and add to that fun. If you keep it as an invite only fill the gate for next year. Cant wait to watch it. Hopefully have it next year. Tons of names that held a Nat number that would do it once a year. Damn I mean its like a reunion

Stanton hopes it turns into a 3 race series! KDub said the preparation for this really lit the fire in him again and might do some more racing, including Loretta's.

This has tons of potential and I hope McGrath and others can make the next one.

Danny Doss (OG DFW Hot Shoe, himself) just posted a short vid of Guy Cooper clearing the giant uphill triple on his FB timeline. Don't think I can share it here. But is gnar gnar.

I know time's a limiting factor but a two-moto race format (even if 15 minute motos) would be very cool.

Guy Cooper is so damn fast, especially for an old timer! I remember seeing him 15 years ago for the first time at an amateur race at CooperLand and asking my dad, "who IS that guy?!?". Man was he fast and he hasn't slowed down since. I saw him once on a chinese pit bike... holy crap.

This will be epic, but imagine what could happen next year if guys get interested:

RC
Emig
McGrath
Windham
O'Mara
Ward
Johnson
Matasievich
Bradshaw
Stanton
Cooper
Bayle
LaRocco
Kiedrowski

Pumped for this!! I've been wondering for the past few years why someone hasn't put on an exhibition race for the past legends. Can't wait until the King throws his hat into the ring!!

Yeah, if Pastrana isn't on his tour, I'll be they could talk him into racing next year.

Others who I'd like to see: Dowd, Lusk, Dubach, Bayle...

Don't know how much riding the rest of these guys have been doing recently but Grewe and Dehoop just did LL's and Grewe just might steal everybody's thunder out there.

They all ride enough to remember how to go as fast as they want for 4 laps

Reed lost interest when he found out he couldnt do more than 4 laps. Its funny ,these guy are all retired, and I bet CR couldnt even win this race.
